Raiders of the Icepeak Mountains (RPG, latest patch allows warlock and paladin classes)

My artist had a selection of three different icons for the game (see pictures below). Which one would you like to show on the phone? (bearing in mind also that we are talking for the small icon you will see on your phone, so it could be that some of these might be too detailed?)

  • 1st one
  • 2nd one
  • 3rd one
  • Don’t like any

I like the first one as long as you can still make out the details in the icon  (Not sure if it’ll be a bit busy at small size though?)

Just preparing the final requirements for the game… this should be the online description, any thoughts on it?

Survive deadly dungeons while levelling up as an adventurer. The orc tribes from the Icepeak Mountains have started threatening human settlements, and it will take courage and determination to defeat one of their clans.

Raiders of the Icepeak Mountains is a 120,000 word interactive gamebook by Adrao, where a combination of your choices and the roll of dice will determine your destiny. The game is text-based, though there is some artwork in it that will offer some flavour about the exotic dungeons and other locations you will visit.

You will start as a novice adventurer, either a fighter, cleric, wizard or rogue, and level up through a series of quests, either those related to the main story of the game, or other side adventures. The dungeons you will visit will have some element of randomness to them, ensuring that even if you play multiple times you will still discover some new secret rooms and monsters. You will have to carefully choose between the abilities and spells at your disposal, and manage well the treasure you loot to buy a variety of objects that can help you in your quests.

-A gamebook similar to those written in the 1980s and 1990s.
-A dice-based RPG with Roguelike elements. No two games will be the same.
-Detailed branching narrative system, ensuring that no two games are ever the same.

  • Play as male, female, or non-binary. However, do note that there is no romance to be found here.
-Four character classes to choose from: fighter, wizard, cleric or rogue.
-Over 30 different spells to choose from. Will you use a vampiric ray to absorb the energy of your enemies and heal yourself, or the invisibility spell to pass by them without noticing?
-Multiple types of melee attacks and abilities to use. Cripple your enemies with powerful blows, or adopt a defence stance.
-Dozens of magic objects to use, from magic weapons, to potions or scrolls.
-Hordes of enemies to fight, each with their own characteristics and weak points. Will you manage to defeat orc warlords, overcome powerful elementals, and slay mighty dragons?
  • Several illustrations to enhance your experience.
  • Try several different difficulty settings. Play as a mighty invincible hero, or struggle to defeat the game on the harder modes. What is the maximum score you can reach?

Sounds pretty good to me. It also sounds like we already have a date for the release on November 4. Congratulations.

Maybe condense this a little to make it snappier and get more in the preview without having to click?
Something like:
The orc tribes of the Icepeak Mountains are threatening the human settlements. Do you have the courage and determination to defeat their clans? Try to survive deadly dungeons and level up as an adventurer.

The artwork is a selling point! I’d hype it up a bit more personally. Maybe:
The game is text-based with artwork allowing you the chance to actually see the exotic locations and dungeons you will visit on your journey.

Rest sounds great

Uh, are you advertising on someone’s game thread?

What? Adrao asked for feedback on his upcoming game that is Icepeak Mountains (this thread) and I gave it. I’m not advertising anything…

Sorry, I also didn’t understand your comment (no offence taken in any case). Do note that post #105 and #106 are about the same game as that in the main thread of the game, and that I am the author. So, they are really on topic, and I was very happy about the feedback (hopefully just some misunderstanding?)

There was a now deleted post where someone linked to some random website, so @Vexius_Krexius comment now looks out of place :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yes, the system let spam sneak in, and an attentive community member alerted staff to get it removed.

Ok so complete misunderstanding from my side! Thanks for the clarification and for @Vexius_Krexius for noticing!!

I think I corrected all bugs and incorporated all last minute feedback I got.

This is the last chance to fully play the game on the forums. If anybody can play the entire thing and let me know if it fully works I would be happy! (particularly, does the game end correctly? As in, when you complete the final mission, does the game let you know about this? Do you think it is ok to re-direct the reader back into town -currently I have offered a choice). Or, should the game just end then?

Yay! Looking forwards to this being published. I’ll have to try and take a look at the new ending

Sorry for the long silence in this and other threads, super-busy in recent weeks.

As Raiders of Icepeak Mountains might be releasing soon I have pulled it from dashingdon. Once again, thanks for everybody that helped review and improve this game at every step of the way! Hopefully once it is released and the first patches are out to clean any bugs (there are always bugs in the first version, and this is one of the more complicated games I have released from a code point of view) I will continue working on other patches for other games etc, and on my other WIPs! (@Jacic haven’t forgotten dragon! )

No problems, I’m so excited for Icepeak to be released anyway! I’m hoping it’ll do really well so you can make some more like it :dragon: :japanese_ogre: :tada: :sparkles:

Game just released! There may still be some bugs in there, so if you find any please report! (or any other feedback, I will try to get a first update going in the next week or two…)

I inadvertently introduced a BIG bug in the middle of the game, preventing you from moving past level 3 (day 6 in the game)… and blocking much of the game.

Just note that if you play the game now, even if you pay for the full game, you are blocked from around 70% of the game. I have just sent a message about this to CoG, hopefully it’ll get sorted soon…

Yeah, i can’t get pass level 3… help?

Which platform are you using? The bug should have been fixed in the latest patch by CoG a few hours ago…

Could you let me know if anybody else is still having similar problems? (and on which platform?)
