Good
It’s meant to be disorientating as you figure out who you were and who you are going to be. I had a few extra ideas to really warp the brain later on in the story but I’m thinking I may dial it down a bit.
You will get a chance to clarify your name later but it doesn’t mean that everyone will listen to you
Morning all! I’m back a bit sooner than expected from my break away. I’ve redesigned chapter 2 and have started implementing the basic structure to then be filled in. I’ve also managed to get sidetracked with a couple of cool ideas
In the mean time, I was wondering if anyone had any cool tech that they wanted to see in the game? Ideally I want things that have some basis in “the real world”. It doesn’t have to be something that is currently possible and it can even be a pipe dream (think Space elevator etc) but it shouldn’t be magic based. Basically something that sounds cool!
On the same sort of vein are there any particular types of augmentations that people would like to see? I have some really cool ideas that I’m going to keep under wraps for now but from the amazing feedback already I’m realising there’s a lot of angles I haven’t considered yet. Now’s your chance to let me know what you want!
Thanks
edit : added punctuation.
Tech
Augmentations
I, uhh… actually have quite a ton of tech in mind…
But they’re all for my WIP!!! ![]()
But I’ll share one for you so you don’t have to feel bad about it.
Somekind of WMD. An environmental-friendly WMD :wink:
And I also has this tech, but it's magic based :thinking:
~~~Wave-breaker Dome~~~
Ouch, it was 2 stuffs. Oh well.
BTW, do you mind if I ask for a saving system? The one that like on most WIPs on Dashingdon?
It's actually really simple to implement. Just drop a question!
Obviously!
This is a very novel idea and very cool!
This actually exists currently for the reptilian meatstack, although it’s very subtly done. Once the stats screen is implemented it should hopefully be clearer.
Some great suggestions. What would you suggest as downsides to these ideas. Most but not all augmentations are going to have a trade off. For example the reptilian meatstack is extra sensitive to light, so your flashbang bullets would be a major problem for them. I’m a big fan of there being a trade off. To give another example, I actually have an idea of taking the wolverine style claw further and literally replacing your hand with a claw. Pro - great at fighting. Cons - dangerous to pick your nose ![]()
Really appreciate the input! ![]()
That’s fine, I wouldn’t want to pilfer any ideas that people aren’t willing to share! ![]()
Saving system will be put in place once Chapter 2 is done (when i’ve finalised the stats etc). I may well take you up on your kind offer nearer the time about implementing it.
I have updated the post with their trade offs
Tech and augs? If you’ve played Shadowrun, just about any augs from there.
@ChaoticMind I fucking loved this highly creative, fun, and awesome first demo.
Some augmentations I would like to see are:
Spine and arm bones replaced with cybernetic limbs in order to maximize upper body strength.
A brain and eye implant that accurately predicts an enemy’s next attack through advanced body language reading technology. Sends messages to your body to perform a certain reaction based on what fighting style you have selected after installation through a worldwide martial arts database. Can mix and match different styles to suit your fighting preferences.
Brain implant to gather and store all kinds of data within seconds. Can also record events through lenses in eyes.
A spine implant that connects to your brain. It is six robotic arms, similar to Doctor Octopus, that can aid you in combat, make you able to climb up walls, or use them to chase faster.
Have every bone in your body, even your skull, replaced with a full endoskeleton made of a special liquid metal that render each of your limbs, including your ribs, nearly unbreakable.
Special arm implants that allow you to whip out a pair of twin blades, both the same length as a katana, from your forearms.
Eye implants to zoom on objects, tag subjects, and track vehicles through a database.
Have all of your teeth replaced with titanium canines, because why the fuck not?
…These are some ideas I think would be neat to see. Obviously not expecting the full list to be considered.
It’s reactions like this that make it all worthwhile! Glad you liked it mate.
Some pretty badass augmentation suggestions. My personal favourite is:
I was thinking of some teeth modifications too. What I want to get across is that this level of technology is common and everywhere. Yes some of the more exotic things are going to be too expensive for everyone to have access to but cosmetic mods (that have some impact on gameplay none the less) should be plentiful if not even rampant. So why the fuck not indeed! ![]()
Thanks for the enthusiastic comments, honestly made my night.
I played the PC game a few years back (assuming you’re on about the game and not the tabletop rpg) but I honestly can’t remember much about the abilities beyond something to do with wey (sp?) lines and the deckers (sp?) who hacked.
What were your favourites and why? I’m not trying to make a shadowrun/any other sci fi clone but I’m really interested in understanding what people enjoy and why.
Thanks, I especially like this one!
Some great ideas. It’s really useful to see other people’s expectations and ideas after this game has been stewing for so long in my mind.
Have you considered setting up the implants to function like a class system, you kind of already have, but I mean setting it up with in game specializations where one implant can allow you to get another that works in tandem with it. Like the combat veteran meatstack could allow you to get implants like blades or a small laser in your arm. Things like that, one of the things I liked about Lost Heir was the replayability, every class made the play through a little bit different
I would actually appreciate it if augmentations weren’t restricted to meatstacks. I want to be a reptilian humanoid with wolverine claws and metal teeth for a reason.
@ChaoticMind Another augmentation I think is actually pretty fitting for the game:
AESA (Advanced Endocrine System Augmentation) or AESR (Advanced Endocrine System Replacement).
This replaces the subject’s entire inner system that is responsible for producing adrenaline with an advanced neuro-signaling system. Instead of producing adrenaline for the heart to pump throughout the body in moments of extreme stress (like in combat), the system instead produces a new chemical compound called Ad-X for the heart to pump throughout the body. Ad-X is essentially regular, natural adrenaline, but on steroids. It increases the dexterity, strength, and focus of the subject by almost 2x, when in moments of extreme stress that a regular person’s body would pump regular adrenaline for the duration of. The subject still retains their natural flight-or-fight responses, as no real neural changes are made. A stronger, more efficient, artificial chemical is pumped throughout their veins where normal adrenaline would be pumped. Its simply a replacement for natural adrenaline. The operation is long, complicated, and highly expensive, as, essentially, your entire inner endocrine system is replaced, along with a stronger, artificial heart, so that it can keep up with the strength and mere power of the drug, but the results are worth it! Contact your doctor and ask about getting an AESA replacement today for a better, stronger, faster, readier you! Volde Advanced Augmentations, Inc.: Creating A Better You, Today!
(Wrote this as an advertisement on purpose. Feel free to steal whatever you wish from it, including the fake company name and slogan. Its all for you!)
I’m not saying that they should be specifically restricted to meatstacks, I guess a better way of putting it is that I think it would be cool if certain implants would work in combination. Like if you had a synth meatstack and you got a hacking implant, you would have more hacking capability than if you were a reptile with just a hacking implant, or if you had an optical implant, you could combine it with a micro expression tracker to enhance social stats, or a neural computer implant that would allow you to calculate real time trajectories to make incredible shots. Or maybe the wolverine claws in combination with strength implants could allow enhanced climbing abilities. Things like that. Combinations of implants allowing different options in different situations
Oh, I see now. I actually agree, good idea! Would expand the game a considerable amount, and even allow for some experimenting.
Ley lines I believe, and yes, the PC game not the board game.
The game has mods for each body part (arms, legs, lungs, larynx, eyes, brain…). I usually play a soldier-type so legs and arms for +body (health) and +reflex?
Haha loving the advertisement vibe. Same question as before, what’s the flip side to having it, what’s the downside/restriction?
