That’s pretty much what happened to most of my favorite bands. Slayer came pretty close to breaking up several times because they always got into an argument with the original drummer because he wasn’t being paid like he felt entitled to because he was never credited as a songwriter.
Hence, the revolving door of drummers that played for Slayer, especially the original drummer who joined and quit Slayer at least 3 or 4 times over that.
It’s definitely going to be a convo, especially when Madds and Angel see our first check and the distribution of royalties.
There’s also the fact that many modern artists complain constantly that they get suckered into being slaves for Ticketmaster who take a massive cut of your proceeds.
By the time we finally are big enough to renegotiate these deals so we get a profit chances are that there’s so much drama that by this point the only reason why we’re touring is to basically retire.
Yeah, I know, which is why I headcanon the start of my mc’s ego being his acceptance by the popular clique in highschool after I figure that puberty has hit him in all the right ways exactly during his year in the clinic and they suddenly really like how he looks and he can finally meet the basic standards for social interaction.
Yep. Don’t forget how Paul and Fatima later on are going to add to this dynamic too, since Paul also seems to sometimes chafe at just being the background singer.
And quite possibly an mc solo album too. Like you said if that blows up and does really well that could rub the others in the band the wrong way too, while being a massive ego boost for mc. queue the drama.
Don’t forget Spotify either.
Speaking of money where is the band getting the money to move into a real house together from? And it can’t be any old house either since it needs to have at least five bedrooms and 2.5 baths, preferably a full 3 or 3.5 even and a large garage and/or basement that can be made into a practice room. That is not exactly house or apartment hunting in the cheapest category, if you catch my drift. Since in my game the only one who comes from a decently middle-class background is Stevie as my mc, Angel and Mads are all from working class backgrounds with barely two coins to rub together between them at present.
Or is Kalena providing it as a content creator house with a reality tv show attached?
Let’s not forget that all of Zima’s relationships (that we’ve seen) seem to end with both parties unhappy, them (at least that’s what I’m inferring from the Love Dagger interaction) hating the other party for reasons they’re (the other party) not clear on or both parties hating each other. At some point dude, you’ve got to look around at the interpersonal wasteland you’ve created and go “wait a minute…am I the actual problem?”
Speaking as someone who’s a recovering addict, I’m playing my MC like one. She’s dropped smoking and drinking and converted her addiction to music.
To her, the money and fame’s nice since it hits the dopamine requirements of chasing a high. But, it’s the act of people loving her art that gives her the most satisfaction.
Music and the artistic process behind it is her whole life. What’ll trigger her anger is, if you’re doing a Maddox and threatening her ability to get the high she needs by potentially fucking up.
The pitfalls with Angel is that I don’t think once the fame happens he’ll want to be in second place so he’ll get more obstinate about having to yield to the frontwoman which’ll create tension.
@AnneWest: 2014’s before MeToo and Zima’s a young attractive individual. Get what I’m picking up?
I suspect that there was some coercion and manipulation.
That makes me quite suspicious of the history between Zima and Love Dagger at this point when you say this. ugh if my assumption is right then poor Zima.
(I’m playing with Zima as a guy, so I don’t know if any of this is different with a girl or non-binary Zima.) Doesn’t matter. If even the most dysfunctional person you know (or used to kind of know) has solid relationships and you’re the only one around hating and hated by everyone you interact with…chances are the problem isn’t literally everyone else you know. Zima’s band hates them, they hate (or compete with) their band. Zima hates Love Dagger, Love Dagger seems to have no idea why. Depending on how you play it, you want a break from Remy’s phone calls until you’re not spiralling anymore, Remy decides to cut off the relationship entirely (which he then hates you for.) The previous fronting band for Love Dagger hated the thought of being in the near vicinity of Zima so much they ceded their entire set to you rather than be around them.
This isn’t looking like a #Me Too problem. Even if it was, MeTeo actually was started in 2006. It wasn’t until 2016/2017 that the hashtag went viral, but it had been around for a good long time before it caught on.
Ooh, that reminds me, between my male mc and Love Dagger Paul definitely seems to have a type. Extremely good-looking pretty boys as Dagger seems to be the only one up there who could maybe give male mc a run for his money.
That could be it or maybe Zima is just unlucky. It could also be that neither Paul himself nor Dagger and Mc may not be the most mentally stable sorts either. I’d be curious though if we get more famous if we ever get to hear Dagger’s side of it too.
I was more thinking that would be Paul, our backup vocalist/second lead and destined to become a sex symbol in his own right. In fact we can already see how he chafes at not being quite as good as the mc in the studio that could easily turn into some resentment at not getting as much of the spotlight later on either.
I’m honor bound to kill whoever fucks with that poor girl (in my playthrough).
I 100% get why she’s upset and has spent her lifetime oscillating between loving us and hating us. Especially since the only way that you could get her best performance is by ruthlessly exploiting her insecurity or putting her up with an inferior vocalist (which we are not).
There’s a lot of subtext going on. I think the band still will always love each other, but the issue is that to be successful as long as we were is that you have to put every single fiber of your being towards chasing excellence.
Money, ego, and the hierarchal nature of bands means that someone always feels like a loser and that breeds resentment.
@AnneWest, I want to point out that 98% of men who exploit others won’t be able to understand the weight of coercion and manipulative behavior in regard to a sexual relationship. They could have initiated contact but then decided to try to cool it down and been coerced or too drunk or high to make a correct decision and sobered up or got enough distance to feel anger, disgusted, and exploited.
I’ll be more than happy to join you in the beating and the burial of the bastard that tries it. Even Angel will seeing how he reacted when Zima told the guy that they weren’t gonna sleep with him after we ask them to stay at the party a while longer. (Now I’m imagining your MC, mine and Angel doing the Goodfellas intro scene.)
I’m actually doing two separate playthroughs. One for Stevie because I’m a Stevie simp and another for Paulette to see how cathartic it’ll be at the end of the story for both the MC and Paulette.
Call her and ask her to come. Take a pill and do a line of cocaine or just do coke, and when you’re about to fall or drown, the Zima option will show up.
Zima has a lot of psychological issues that can be readily exploited by people. Especially if they are in their more people pleasing mindset. They mentioned that they reverted back to a more socially destructive pattern of behavior around three years ago.
The subtext reads that they were triggered into their worst habits due to something.
And they still have a close relationship or association with the therapist they had as a child. Why no mention in any of this (particularly when it comes to MC) of even talking to her about maybe trying to meditate between them? Is it so far out of bounds to expect someone who’s been in therapy or under care for most of their life to want to utilize that to deal with an untenable work situation? But we see none of that effort from Zima. It’s like they think every burden should be someone else’s to carry and then feel betrayed when they look around and they’re alone or surrounded by hostility. Even just being baseline polite and giving them the distance they say they want frem you gets you proverbially kicked in the teeth by them. How much are other people supposed to take? Particularly when they’re the ones offering the olive branch over and over. At some point, destroying relationships becomes a habit, and if it’s a habit you purposely blind yourself to (like Maddox is in the beginning stages of doing) you can’t continually be surprised that you’re alone without justifying it to yourself somehow. At some point, you need to stop with the self-justifications and ask yourself why you’re the one who’s always alone as a serious question, and not just as a moan to the agony aunt that lives in your head.
