Postponing to January "Hunter: The Reckoning — The Beast of Glenkildove"

We were fervently hoping to release Hunter: The Reckoning — The Beast of Glenkildove next week, but after careful consideration we’ve decided to delay the release until January.

A January release will ensure that we have time to fix bugs we’ve found in the beta process, and, as a bonus, it will give us time to add more character portraits to the game.

If you’re excited about The Beast of Glenkildove, please wishlist it on Steam! The more wishlists we get, the better the game will do on Steam on release day.

And be sure to sign up for our newsletter for the latest news on The Beast of Glenkildove and our other interactive novels!

Sorry to hear that the wait will be longer, but if it means the game will be in better shape when it arrives, that’s good news. Best of luck to @wbrown and everyone else involved in making it the best it can be!

Sorry to hear that. But the game sounds fun. I was actually gonna ask you if about the plot but seeing as that the game is delayed I can wait. You also said something about a wishlist. Could I add that the game be taking place during the present day, the more like a Supernatural or Vampire diaries type of game.

You’ll be happy to hear it does take place during the present day. But the wishlist they’re talking about is adding to the list of games you want to buy on Steam, not a list of things you’d like to see in the game.

There’s a demo on Steam, so maybe that’ll answer your questions regarding the plot?

Oh…my bad, anyway thank you for the information on whether it takes place during the modern/present day

Oh no! This is such a bummer. SUCH a bummer. Logically, I think the team behind the game should do whatever seems best for the game, and if it feels like the game needs another month to sort out the kinks, then by all means, take that month! But emotionally, HELL NAAWW! You did not just give us a demo sooo many months ago, tease a game release right on time for Christmas, and then pull the rug out from under us like that. Guess it’s time to fall to plan B for the holidays - watching Christmas romcoms on Netflix while eating Nutella straight from the jar. And playing Honor Bound on repeat all month. You won’t get away from my judgmental butt, Korzhaaaa!

Also, is the game getting renamed to Hunter: Rough Beast? Because I don’t know how I feel about that. The Beast of Glenkildove was such a mouthful but in so many ways, so evocative!

It’s not getting renamed.

Okay, that’s relieving! For some reason, it keeps showing Hunter: Rough Beast at the top at times, and at other times, it shows the original name. I got worried that they intended to shorten the name.

I think it was a working or earlier title - it showed as that for a second when I clicked through just now, but then updated to The Beast of Glenkildove.

That’s something that happens after you refresh the page. I don’t know why. Maybe it was some kind of placeholder text in the rough draft?

I think I found a place buried in the code. I’m pushing a new build.

Why am I more upset about this than when someone hit my car in a hit-and-run??

Still excited, just sad now too. This was my most anticipated title this year.

I am sad it got delayed but can’t wait to see the pics!

Maybe it’s a great opportunity to release a few as promos :eyes:?

I’m very much looking forward to this! Not worried about the delay.

Oh please! Take mercy on us, grant us a single promo!!

I’m actually fine with this. There’s too much going on this time of year for me to sit down and really have time with a game (I have yet to crack open Honor Bound, even) and after the holidays it’ll be much easier to find the time to really enjoy a good, long gaming session.

I think it’s fine to delay for bugs, but ngl I am wondering why the we got the demo months away from December instead of the week of its release.

Just trying something different. Seeing if it gets us more wishlists on Steam.
