*️⃣ Phantasmagoria: Nightmare's End (WIP)- First 5 chapters released ~157k words so far

I missed it at first. Plus, I think putting it in the game, and asking the player what difficulty setting they want, within the narrative, might work better than having it in the stats menu. Just my thoughts, don’t know what the others think.

EDIT:

ChatGPT is the ultimate tabula rasa, capable of doing anything under the sun even as it’s grown dumber in recent months. Either way, when I wrote riddles for my game, my rule was that if ChatGPT could solve it, the riddle was solvable.

That’s definitely something I can do. I can add the code from the stats into the main game section and add a choice at the start of the riddle contest to see if the player would like to alter anything (and also state that the settings can be changed as needed via the stats menu in case further help is needed) and see what that looks like. Might be a good idea so the player knows what options are there to start as it’s possible they’re getting a bit buried in the stats menu.

Minor update. (No extra chapter content uploaded.)
As was suggested by ChanceOfFire I had added a choice in that goes directly to the riddle settings in game to make it easier to find. (The riddle settings are still there in the stats menu so they can be changed during the game as well if you change your mind part way through the riddle challenge.)

Also added was a couple of “example” screens to hopefully make it easier to work out what I’m talking about with the setting changes from free text entry to choice button like this one.

Hi everyone. Sorry about the MIA. Life has not been conductive to getting writing done which had put a major delay on my projects but have decided to make the time somehow to get these done (have done some work on my two active WIPs today). Just a note that I have almost finished cleaning up the part of the next chapter that had been largely prewritten (will have to do an exact word count but is probably somewhere in the 15-20k mark give or take.) I may release that chapter it when it’s done (it does need another section written), or more likely just complete the entire game and release it as a whole as its getting close to that anyway. With the minigame (also complete!) it’ll likely put this project up over 200k total. Anyway, if there is anyone waiting for an update you have my apologies.

Where Freddy Krueger

Yes will get there

Didn’t quite fit with the mythology theming I’m afraid so he had to give it a miss.

I’ve made up some possible coverart from the game. May be changed (I’m not sure if there’s something bothering me but can’t quite put my finger on what it is) but this is where it’s at for the moment

Perhaps, but I won’t let that be my fate you think resolutely.

Missing punctuation?

Approach and cover it with some rocks. At least give the poor soul a proper burial. You’d hope someone would do the same for you should it come it that.

Come to that

You shiver at the thought, but steeling your nerves stride towards the fall. If you’re going to do this, it’s best to be done with it now.

Nerves you stride

Hunched over you hurry as fast as the tightening passageway will allow, headless of the damage caused to your clothing.

Heedless?

“How do I know you’ll keep your word. I see no exit from this place.”

Missing a question mark

The ground continues to tremor slightly as you step closer. Enough to strain your nerves though no large rocks fall. The way you see it you can either attempt climb over the rubble to the centre. The angle is shallower and there are more footholds, however it looks unstable and may collapse at any time. Otherwise you could try to scale the steeper tumble of rocks closer to the cliffs. It’ll be more difficult and put you in closer range should anything fall from above.

This is the second time I tried climbing the mountain. But come to think of it, from reading this passage, what is the upside of trying to scale the steeper tumble of rocks? It’s not very clear when I look at it.

Thanks so much @Chukwuemeka_Odulukwe! Glad you liked it!

Sorry I am still working on getting the finished version out sooner rather than later. My life has just been stupidly busy unfortunately which has slowed me down. Working on it
