Otome Games

Ohhhhhhh noooow that makes sense to me!
I bought it as well last year on steam but did not keep track with them about the progress. The first 5 ch are great, but after they release all I just cannot finish even 1 play through. I couldn’t understand why I am not invested or entertained, because I really liked it first time with the 5 ch. Now after everything you said I completely understand what happened.

thank you for all the info!

holy sh*t! I guess its good I did not finish the game…that is very sad & disrespectful to the players

Oh yeeeees! I accidentally bought the whole bundle instead of Rubens path & now who knows when it will be released :sob: but his path is really great I played it like 4 times :heart_on_fire:

It is a enemy to lovers path, as I understand all paths will be different.

oh yeah! I cannot wait for him, that dynamic will be really interesting!

Which is why I’m saying it was bland. It wasn’t good, but it wasn’t bad either. It just was.

That was my feeling on it as well. I love a good enemies to lovers route, and I love jerk ROs (as well evidenced by my preferences!), but Ruben went too far. There wasn’t much good to balance out the shit way he treated my MC most of the way through that path. The end was good, but by then I was a bit bitter over the treatment from him. My MC was happy, but… she had been through too much.

Me either. I’m hoping that changes on Zarik’s route. He’s the only other one of interest to me, and I really would’ve picked him first after seeing how Ruben acted.

I think she’s got a thing for suffering, because the MC in Superstition S3 was such a downer before the changes to Zillah. It was, to be honest, getting too depressing for me to RP. That’s great… your “father” wants to murder your soul and take your body, the angels want to kill you (I think), a lot of the demons just want you prepped for the slaughter, and your “friends” aren’t all that reliable most times. Then you pile on Zillah shitting on you and it was just like, “Fuck this noise.” My MC was getting to the point where she would just let Death take her because she was sick of all the shit. Now, at least, she’s got a bit of hope, something to live for. I never really felt that the phoenix had that in ToA.

I still found it depressing in Ruben’s route. Sure, they got to be happy in the end, but when you go through so damned much to get there, it didn’t feel like enough. You can’t break someone completely and expect it not to have an effect, you know? That’s why Wayhaven worries me with A and M–you get to a certain point and you can’t really do anything to outweigh the bad if it keeps dragging on, so getting the “good” at the very end doesn’t count for a damned thing, as far as I’m concerned, because it can’t be “good” enough to undo the damage caused by the bad.

And don’t get me started on AMR. I want Leon dead and I want him to suffer before it happens. That fucker can’t suffer enough to suit me.

Same here. And it was fun. There wasn’t so much “angst” in it, which I so appreciated. They felt like adults, even if after playing another route, and seeing how everyone pairs off without the MC made me feel a bit… squicky. I just ended up sticking with Alkar/Omen/MC and didn’t bother with the others after I saw how it was.

Me too, and I always get the “melancholic” trait in the end.

Just to be clear, I don’t know if they changed the writer or if they just kept a bad scheme of the game plot and forgot some things. But is clear the change in the quality of writing.

Yes and like, it was only a text epilogue, they totally could have MC and Lucien travelling all around. It wasn’t going to be more work write a good ending.

I am most interested in the Nouritis route, but I want to play Zarik’s too.

Oh, and I am pretty sure the author got a thing for suffering. Like, especially after the new interactions with Zillah I get how he was feeling, but she put so much in Roe’s shoulders in so little time. It wasn’t easy. Also when we don’t have a conclusion, is worse! By the time I played Throne of Ashes, if the game wasn’t finished, to be honest, I probably would have dropped.

Sometimes I use AMR as an example because I still can’t get how this game fucked my head. Just thinking about it make me feel bad. Actually, if I could forget that I played, I would, gladly. I really hope for the future IFs that I’ll play that they don’t ever make me feel like I felt playing AMR, especially after all that shit that happened and I still tried to engage the second part. Even trying to keep my distance and not to self-insert, the way that it made me feel… I just don’t want to feel that way again, even if it’s fiction.

Just updating this post because Rolling Crown posted an update for the new Demonheart game… With Kaisar art.  I can’t wait to smooch this rat man

Dear god, apparently there is already 300,000 words written for When Stars Collide (Steamberry Studios next game)! I’m really excited for this one. I was kind of meh on Changeling, but really enjoyed Gilded Shadows and the world building for When Stars Collide has been really intriguing so far.

Definitely, even though the Endgame routes haven’t been my favourite so far. I loved Lance’s route, it was good to see Morgan be able to pursue her passion outside of the restrictions of Esper kidnapping and wars between Endgame and the various factions.

I have high expectations for this game too! I think it’s insane how fast this studio works. Also everything they promised they are delivering with Gilded Shadows. They are very professional. I don’t know if they will release When Stars Collide in early access, but I would buy this game in EA without second thoughts.

I am very excited for the release of Yuu’s route on Gilded Shadows :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I gave Superstition a shot recently, but got super put off by the fact that my first run (With Sydero) was apparently ruined by the fact that I had a creative stat that was too high which meant I missed a chance to get a RO point and fell below a threshold. I don’t like games where the requirements are so arcane you need a guide, as opposed to being based on actual choices you make. Are the other romances like that?

I’ve been following the social media of this game for some time, today they released a demo. I will play it later, I have high expectations about this game. I am a woman of simple tastes, I love the good old isekai setting. Also, the characters are gorgeous.

As tomorrow will be the release day of The Radiants, I want to know, do you like visual novel/otomes with a stat raising system? I think most of the time stat raising is boring and repetitive, but the dev specified that will be a LIGHT system, so I’ll give a try.

Sea of Stars is a new project by 13 Leagues (Throne of Ashes, Superstition). I’ve only just started so I don’t know how much is available yet, but if you are into sci fi and romancing smexy aliens, could be worth a try.

Wow, I played it and it’s very very good. I loved the sci-fi setting. The only hard thing is regarding the MC’s rection to others, we can’t have kinder options. The preset MC personality, at the moment, seems to be asshole. But I think is part of the story and we will be able to develop more our personality later.

Oh, yesterday I played about three hours of The Radiants. The characters are cute, the story is compelling, but what a bore is the goddamn stat raising. I am scared because I am playing without any guide and flirting with all the ROs, so I will probably have to pass all the stat raising parts again… And again. This cut off the pace of the story so much. I don’t see why we can just choose the traits we like to upgrade, instead of having to see 5 times (that for a week in game, I am currently at week 5) the same screen saying that I’m going to my eletive class and then another one saying that my charisma was raised. Oh and in the weekends we can… Do more stat raising lol. The author said this part isn’t completed yet, that we will have scenes for the weekends. I hope that in future this system can be turned off. I’m liking the game so far, but this is so tiring, repetitive and feels unnecessary.

Yeah, what I get from this from the game’s page:

Determine for yourself if you will you go down the path that leads to your own redemption and growth or stay the course?

Is that we will have a chance to grow out of our surly “look out for yourself and don’t need anyone” attitude. 13 Leagues definitely has a thing for traumatic childhoods though. This, Throne of Ashes and Superstition all feature it pretty heavily.

Yeah, stat raising VNs for me always just turn into “get guide and follow it exactly” which, at that point, the author could have just written a kinetic novel. Stat raising for me will always be the worst way to do a VN.

I need Zihr. He is so pretty and I loved his interactions with the MC. The part with his POV was adorable. Oh and what about the first LI that we met betraying us? I can see the tons of angst already.

For what I understood the stat raising part will be related of the kind of oracle our MC will be, and there isn’t a “right” way to play but… Again, we could choose our traits and that’s all :woman_shrugging:

Have you played Royal Alchemist?
It also has stat raising mechanic.

I played it long time so I don’t remember much but stat raising there was okay (thanks god for easy mode lol).
But I definitely played it with walkthrough and I remember it was kinda a chore at times

Maybe hold of on more of The Radiants until some bug fixes have come out. I’ve just gotten up to week 8 and the extracurriculars are breaking down. One just goes to a black screen and stops the game from progressing, and some of the others just end up choosing random extracurriculars to go to, not the one you actually choose.

I never played Royal Alchemist, but I played the demo from Royal Order from the same studio, and liked the male ROs a lot. But, meeeh stat raising.

Oh no :frowning: I stopped yesterday on week five. Yeah, I guess I’ll wait for the patch. Maybe I’ll try the new version of Love Spell today. Oh, and talking about Love Spell, I really hope they reach the milestone goals of the sales from the updated version, because how can a studio make an otome and let the HOTEST MAN IN THE WORLD as a side character and not give his own route? I’m down bad for Sergio.

Beautiful beautiful man

Ah, so I guess Royal Order is similar then - I looked through the steam page and it seems like it has same system…
Tbh, the only stat raiser I love is tokimeki memorial gs series

I wanted to try Love Spell since I played another demo from same dev - Peachleaf Valley.
I can’t wait for this to get released, I have it in my wishlist for like 2?? years already

I’ll leave here some of my favorite entries of O2A2 Jam . Those are all short visual novels with only one sprite, one background and less than 1000 words. I haven’t played all the entries yet, so maybe I’ll update this post later

SO MANY GAMES ON SALE

Today Penny Larceny was released too! I have high expectations, the developers are the same from Arcade Spirits, which I like a lot. Not exactly an otome, though.

Some sale recomendations:

I love this game. The MC has some customization (and is partially voiced). It has some puzzles during the game, but not too complicated. Not a lot of romance is this one, but the two male love interests are lovely.

In the first one, you play as an employer of an Arcade shop and in the second you play as an esports player. I enjoyed a lot both games. MCs are customizable.

Totally posting because this game has to sell 5000 copies so we can have SERGIO ROUTE. But seriously, I love the MC of this game. She’s a little childish, but at the same time, she is so funny.

Ahh, probably one of my favorite otomes. Has a lot of routes, but they are all well developed. Still has one route to be released.

Hanzo! (I haven’t played yet, but now I will! Hanzo is always mentioned as one of the best love interests ever!)

As always, here I am recommending Bustafellows. Aaaah really more people should play this game. It’s very plot heavy (sometimes situations are very absurd but yay fiction) and the MC is just the best. She is determined, focused, strong-willed, and mature. One of the things that I love about this game is that when people have problems they just TALK, you know, like normal persons normally do. The drama is in the plot, not in the romances (that’s why this game is so good).
