This one has recently been updated, and although it’s still a work in progress, it already offers so much content. Genderlocked fem!MC.
The story unfolds entirely through text messages, but it’s done in such a clever way that even in-person scenes—like dates, hangouts, or group interactions—feel natural and immersive. Instead of awkwardly pretending people would text while sitting next to each other, the game smoothly shifts into things like calls or cleverly framed messaging that still captures the moment without breaking immersion.
The cast is super engaging and genuinely funny; the banter with friends and family feels really natural. And there are choices that actually affect your personality stats ( which I find very detailed ). But even more than that, the choices seriously shape the story itself, which is something you don’t often see in many visual novels. It really feels like VNs are evolving, much like HG, by putting interactivity and player agency at the forefront.
Disclaimer: None of the followings are finished, and some are pretty short. MC is genderselectable in all of them.
There are also these two new yandere VNs :
- I think it is pretty well-known. As always the dev is serving with the art, mini games and cliffhangers.
- This one not only has absolutely scrumptious art, but once again, choices actually matter ! The story branches right from the beginning, with different paths that all lead to the dorm, and depending on which one you take, it introduces you to different characters, but you will meet them all eventually.
It’s surprising that you can avoid encountering the yandere character entirely until then. This means you can miss all the signs that hint at him being that. And when the MC finally meets him, you wouldn’t even suspect it—you can even choose to act suspicious towards him.
And then a few that aren’t exactly new, but definitely worth checking out :
- You play as the yandere. It’s still pretty short, and the most interesting parts haven’t fully kicked in yet, but I really like the original premise. You can be downright mean, morally questionable, and even gaslight your amnesiac ex into believing you’re still in a relationship, or you can choose to be a 2.0 yandere, who actually has a sane head on their shoulder and decide to be honest. Personally, I don’t think I’d be able to go down the first route—I’d rather be the one being chased than doing the chasing—but I might try it after completing the second.
- In this game, the MC’s husband is supposedly dead, so they create an android clone with all of their shared memories—except for a few important ones. But this android doesn’t just want to be a temporary replacement… he wants to fully take the place of the real husband permanently. I can’t wait to see what happens when or if the real Keto shows up.
- This one is just so cute! And i like the title ! It’s currently being revamped, with no set release date yet. It’s a slice-of-life VN with one main love interest—your academic rival, who’s had a long-time crush on you. The MC harbors a lot of resentment because they’ve always been second to his best, even though he never puts in much effort. It feels like a shoujo anime… and it was actually submitted to Josei Jam.
And lastly, there’s this music band-inspired VN :
- It’s been sometime since I last played it. Even though the protagonist’s past is somewhat set, you still get to influence their present and how they connect with others. The music and atmosphere give it a wonderfully nostalgic feel. Though, it focuses more on character building than music making.
