Open to Commissions for Cover Art (No AI!)

Hi all! It’s Ray. I am strapped for cash at the moment (alas), and since I have some free time on my hands I figured I’d offer my services for cover art/flyer creation. There are so many exciting new projects getting put up on cogdemos all the time, so I’d love to help make covers for any new authors looking to commission one!

I am highly proficient in Photoshop, having created many, many flyers/book cover concepts/short film posters over the years. I’m a huge nerd about typography, and I have an extensive personal collection of free, commercial-use fonts which I love pairing with open-source images to create designs.

You can find a rough portfolio at this google drive link (sorry, I don’t have a website or anything because that is too much freaking work right now).

As far as rates/pricing goes, I’m pretty flexible, but I will probably be looking at a flat rate accounting for about how many hours of work I anticipate a project to be. Most likely this will end up around $20/hour, so like $20 for a quick design (flat or single-image background, simple lettering) and upwards from that depending on project complexity. I’m definitely open to discussion on this front, though, so feel free to message me (on here or via DM) to discuss pricing! Probably will take payments on Cashapp or something. Not super sure, sorry, haven’t done commissions like this on here yet!

Thanks for reading! If you’re interested, drop a message in this thread or DM and I’ll get back to you ASAP

Note: I do not (and never will) use any AI or generative art tools to create my designs.

Interesting. If anyone wanted to buy art from you, what would the commercial rights be like? Would you sell full ownership of the outputs, or would you just sell a commercial license to use it? Are you drawing any images, or just using copyright-free images?

(Mainly asking out of curiosity. I have settled art for my next game.)

Yes I’d be selling full ownership! I’d love to keep copies for my portfolio, but other than that I wouldn’t need to hold any rights. I haveeeee done some digital drawing/vector making (on Illustrator), but I’m more into using existing images because I’m not huge into making brand-new logos or anything.
