I LOVE this. Finally, these seemingly benign choices (in literally every other IF) have actual consequences. I’m such a fanboy I’m fanning myself. Yes, please, thank you and give me more. Just means I get to do a million playthroughs and get a new experience each time beyond a few flavor texts. You are, hands down, the new master of “meaningful choices”.

I noticed this awhile ago but I’m more of a lurker so I never mentioned it. If you put your first/last name as “Asmodeus” you get this response “nothing good can come from having that name.” so that’s interesting.

Yup, someone else earlier in the thread noticed the trend of what was going on with those particular sorts of names. I̵t̷’̸s̵ ̴f̴i̵n̵e̶.̵ (Also behold my 20,000 words of coding in the naming subsection!)
If Serial Killer MC gets noticed enough for someone to make the connection, then they’re going to be in deep doodoo. (Although I suppose it could be a self reference… hmm… 
With that sort of name (Doe, White) you can still go ahead and use it. The game is just warning you that someone else will be sharing the same name. (And probably for a similarly related reason when it comes to ‘Doe’)
It’s other sorts of names that get blocked entirely.
*wipes a tear away* It’s always great to see when someone ends up in a more obscure branch like the manakin mating dance. (Merlin approves! Also it makes my researching the weirdest bird dances worth it)
Regarding cheats, it’s actually quite easy to cheat by changing your stats if you’re playing through a browser. (You just have to use the Web Console) But someone reporting those kind of stats would throw my data collection and stat balancing way out of whack.
There are actually many ways to get possessed and raise/lower the stats that determine if you’ll pass the possession check or not. If the MC is possessed then the “So, You’re Possessed!” achievement should trigger (and unless it happens at the very end of Chapter 1, it’ll be really obvious in the narrative that your MC is possessed).
@Random_Brit mentioned one of the main ways to fail the possession check. The C̶o̸r̴r̸u̵p̴t̸i̵o̷n̷ stat in the Stats Menu is the main variable in the possession check, but there are other variables influencing it too.
Also, there are some choices that will instantly possess you because doing them is such a bad idea. I mean a good idea. Y̴o̵u̵’̶d̶ ̴r̴e̵a̷l̷l̵y̸ ̶l̴i̷k̴e̸ ̷t̷o̴ ̶l̴o̴o̴k̵ ̶o̸u̷t̶ ̵t̵h̷a̸t̸ ̵w̵i̷n̵d̵o̶w̴,̷ ̸r̴i̷g̴h̵t̶?̴

Really loved the demo! I will say that I was very confused about what led me to be possessed? Does picking the weird text options do that? Also, there was a question in the million Merlin question list about Merlin and Adrian. It was greyed out for me, but I don’t know how to get it, or why it’d be blocked?

The Fencing Club route is finally fully written – currently at 144,000+ words (including code). Paramedic MCs finally get their chance to strut their stuff… if you screw up enough to reach that point.
However, I’ve still got to polish, edit, and bug-test (and bug-test and bug-test) the second part of this route which always takes 3x-4x as long as it does to initially write it.

As mentioned further up the thread, Corruption is the main stat tracking the MC’s liability to fail the possession check, but there are a bunch of different factors & variables in play there.
Doing the things that the demons are telling the MC to do is certainly one of them.
Otherwise options get grayed out because of what the MC did (or failed to do). To know what’s going on that specific circumstance I’m going to need the actual text that was showing at the time because that section is 62,000+ words long. And apparently has 359 different choices/options. OMG I never actually checked that data before. Damn.

Damn I wanted my lust vice MC to faceplant on polo route but I am so tempted to reconsider now.
I just want you to know that I chose Jason Voorhees Pandemic Mask and because the game asks MC’s name right after that and I am very creative my MC is also named Jason. I didn’t even know you can actually be a killer but (obviously) I wasn’t going to miss an opportunity when it was presented xD So, if you’re thinking about adding self-reference… (more like self-mockery in this case I guess)
