Ooh man, yeah that’s a coding thing…I am going to keep an eye on this. It’ll be fixed in the next update! Thank you sooo much : D
Shoot, I didn’t know about this…thank you greatly for pointing it out! It’ll definitely be fixed in the next update. Thank you, sorry!!!
Oooh, thanks for pointing this out. I did mean for the choice options to all be the same, whichever roommate you chose, but I will definitely take a look for good measure.
And yes, stat-locked choices are becoming a problem. I wanted to make the beginning of the game accessible and easy before you really had to think about your choices, but I’m having a rough time thinking about what should be stat-locked, and what shouldn’t.
Still learning, but thank you so much for the detailed comment! Helps loads ^^
Thanks!
I simply didn’t want to make too many labels, if that’s what you’re talking about on the attraction scene. It would be too much to keep track of in-game to create a variable for your sexuality. I’d honestly love to create more friendship-like scenes for asexual people and people who are not attracted to whatever gender their roommate is, but since I am already writing four scenes where there should be one because you have four roommate options, it would just take waaaay too long. I hope that’s what you meant. But, maybe, in the final draft, if I am feeling confident, I will write them in.
Also, this is honestly one of the best compliments I’ve ever received??? Like that makes me so incredibly happy. I am totally new to choicescript and every “book” I’ve ever written is abandoned or gross and unfinished, and I’m new to world-building and characters as well. This made me really happy to know I’m doing a good job. And just between you and me, Cadence is one of my favorites too ; )
Thanks so much!!!
Kat
I know how variables can pile up so you can use a temporary variable that will last only for this scene, it is good for things like this where you will have many things at the same time but will not use it later. Of course, if it is just too difficult to go around so many labels and variables and codes, etc, its all right, I only wanted to show a somewhat easier way, since it keeps the code cleaner, but it doesnt help much more.
Then again, I dont think I have read the entire ChoiceScript tutorial, so feel free to ignore any senseless babbling of mine and ask someone with more experience.
Oh, okay, well in that case you should have the choice after all of the roommates:
*if (roommate = "Kioko")
...
*if (roommate = "Carris")
...
*if (roommate = "Cadence")
...
*if (roommate = "Quinn")
...
*fake_choice
#"It feels amazing! I still can't believe it."
...
#etc...
I love the familiars!
That’s probably a better way to do it, lol. I will implement this in the next update! I remember having this problem with the roommate-bonding scenes as well…
Thanks!
Thank you very much! Hope you’ll continue reading <3
Love the game so far Candace is fav, but for the last bit could there be an option to get up an sleep with familiar when the mc is woken up
For plot reasons I wouldn’t be able to do this, but I’m so glad you like it! <3
I have to say that for your first interactive novel, this story is really top-notch so far! I love your writing style and instantly fell in love with multiple characters. Kioko, in particular, is the cutest thing. Can’t wait for your continued progress! I wish you inspiration and joy as you continue to write!
Woah, thanks so much!!! I’m really glad you like it : D I hope you’ll continue to follow the story~
Also, the save plugin is not working, maybe you forgot to add the code?
I…actually don’t know the code OR how to implement it. Whoops?
Would you, ah, be able to educate me? If it’s no trouble lol
When you use dashingdon, there is a box that mentions “use CJW Save Plugin” you may have ticked that box, but it doesnt work if you dont have it, you can download it here:
Just get the newer one, the “sm”, as it allows more than one slot.
Then, the code, must be on your startup scene
*sm_init [name of the game] | 3 (thats your number of slots)
Cough, cough, or at least, thats what I got from a quick look around my collection of incredibly useless links that are actually useful. If you need more help, you can ask one of the moderators or just another author.
And, to finish yet another wall, its no trouble lol
Awesome, this will definitely be among the many fixes + additions in the next update.
Thank you so much!
Hello,
Sorry to bother once again! On the topic of the save system, I am currently using CSIDE, and I play-test within CSIDE instead of on a browser. I created a browser file (insertgamenamehere.html) but I’m not sure where to place the smPlugin.js file.
Not sure if you’re well-versed in the art of coding, but I figured I’d ask anyways.
Thank you!!!
For a hair color could black be offered?
Will be implemented in next update, forgot to add. Very sorry about that!
