New omnibus "Hosted Games" app

Sorry I just realised what I’d written I was more thinking liking an official facebook page not actual reviews. Serves me right for not double checking my post.

Could you give an example?

About IAP stuff… this was an interesting read:

Also, just in case these are useful to anyone:

Lots of games require users to buy (instead of buying “the game” which they then “own”) in-app currency to use in order to play. Gems, diamonds, gold, whatever. Sometimes you can earn this in-app currency in the game itself, but we don’t really have that in mind in this example.

I know what ingame currency is usually used for, that’s why i asked:
It would seem counterproductive to me to e.g. have people pay per chapter. Most negative reviews already complain about ‘having to buy the rest of the game’ so anything that bars the player from proceeding might end up hurting the sales etc.

As I said, we haven’t implemented that and we don’t have a firm plan to do so immediately. If we did, it would not likely be per chapter/choice, but per game.

Yeah, the model wouldn’t change. If you buy the game for 500 gems ($5), you would own the game.

Separately, there’s a world in which there could be “passes” that you spend to play a chapter, but those passes would regenerate freely, and would be for free-to-win games (like Dragon or Creatures Such as We), to encourage you to finally spend the 500 gems to own the game. They’d take the place of the current “delay_break” and “delay_ending” structure that we have in those games.

The main difference is that, with gems, we might be able to do a subscription model, where you sign up to spend $5/month to get something like 525 gems (a 5% bonus), so that there’s a discount for being a dedicated customer.

tl;dr: if you’re accustomed to buying our games, the gems would mostly just be an extra step, but the functionality will otherwise be the same.

Ahhh…

Can I suggest yarnballs then? in ref to ariadne and the labyrinth?

I actually suggested that myself months ago! But I was shot down.

D= people have no culture dodges away

I mean, if you wanted to organize a poll and try to rally some grassroots support for yarnballs, you might be able to convince the rest of the team…

XD you know my trackrecord with polls and stuff

Just out of interest (not owning an apple account) do the games still get individual reviews? Or is it only for the app as a whole now?

As an upcoming first-time author here, the lack of reviews concerns me a bit. I take feedback very seriously and hope reviews will be implemented at some point. Fortunately, Android releases still have individual downloads and review sections. I’m incredibly excited to see what people think of the world I’ve spent so much time bringing to life!

Yeah, it’s a big issue. Right now, reviews are only for the app itself, and the reviews seem to reset on Apple each time there is an app update. So basically, with the numerous updates one would expect to the app, including just new releases, I’m afraid that even if someone wrote a review for a new HG, that the review would be “wiped out” the next time the app was updated.

Well, only the written reviews are hidden after a new update. The ratings are still kept.

EDIT:
But I see what you mean.

No, we can opt to do that or not when updating the app. In the case of the first round of reviews, the comments mostly reflected the lack of features in the omnibus. We do hope to implement an in-app review system as well.

Will these in-app reviews be able to be seen by those without the omnibus app or will they only be seen by those who have downloaded and installed the omnibus app?

Hurrah for the in-app review!
Probably incorporate them into an in-web review, too? :]

By nature, these in-app reviews for specific games would be displayed only within the installed app. Reviews that appear in the app store would be written only for the omnibus app as a whole.
