Hiii punks! I did a thing! A demo for My Darling Psycho: CoGDemos

This game is focused on your relanshionship with an killer while being a detective in a cyberpunk setting.

I thought at doing something a little different, so this game has only one RO.

:heart: Valerie: Public enemy number two, responsible for the recent murders you were hired to investigate. They are your bodyguard, and they can be protective, clingy, and very possesive. You both share a complicated and loooong history together.

You can customize yourself and Val’s gender as you wish.

In this game of cat and mouse you will be uncovering a lot about them – and also a lot about you.

Gonna be honest here… I am kinda bad at promoting myself alrighty? I am shy.

I must’ve erased and rewritten the cover a thousand times!

Anyway, this is more of a passion project then anything else. I felt inspired on those visual novels were you usually have a single “romance” interest, a more linear story, but can go more in depth with both.

There was a abandoned game with only one chapter were you also had an “villain” RO, which gave me the courage to do this – because even if was rough around the edges it was very dear to me, and I was pretty bummed to never find anything similar to that again.

Thus, My Darling Psycho was born.

I like to try some different things here and there with this game. It’s my first, so… This was an experience.

Anyway, I will continue to write and update in probably a monthly basis.

Feel free to tell me what part of the game is breaking (Started coding last month), has typos (English is not my first language), or dosen’t make sense.

Also feel free to tell me your opinion on things and stuff – I like to yap and listen.

Suggestions of all kinds are welcomed. I know this will probably not be everyone’s cup of tea.

It took me around 2 hours to finish reading it until the end, but I read like a granny, so take it with a grain of salt.

There’s a lot of pronouns issues both for Val and MC(played with M-Val and NB- MC). I’ll try to maybe screenshot everything I found, later. Overall i enjoyed this demo a lot, looking forward to read more

If this dosen’t work then I will be having a look at what could be interfering with the code, or adding a more solid explanation at this part, maybe making Val intervene after a few attempts to avoid a softlock of some kind. I will launch a fix at the next few hours at most, probably!

Love the premise, it was quite a fun read and I can’t wait for more! Love that the identity of the spouse as a serial killer is known to the reader from the start, I think it definitely helps with creating an interesting dynamic between Val and MC right off the bat.

That being said, there are quite a few pronoun bugs, with Val defaulting to “she” in a lot of places, but it should be a relatively easy fix. One other thing I would bring up is the POV switches between MC and Val, they are clear enough, but some distinction like titles or punctuation to separate them wouldn’t hurt. Based off feedback I’ve seen for WIPs that utilize similar switches, it seems to be a common request anyways, so might as well get ahead with it.

Interesting, I am sat. Never seen an WIP what a premise like this before.
I am not really a cyberpunk fan, but the setting works here really well.

It’s a bit disappointing that the MC seems to have an already established personality, it would be nice to have more choice in how we feel about things.

I also found the POV switches and keeping track of who is thinking what a bit confusing at times, but I’m sure you will get the hang of it in due time.

So MC’s voice doesn’t always work and Val is the only person able to translate? I am sure this will have no consequences at all :sweat_smile:

Looking forward to seeing where this story goes.
