Monsters of New Haven High - last update 4/02

You could always use School for paranormal’s…

What other monsters are in this universe besides the playable ones? Obviously Harpies but besides them? I think I remember a Kitsune being mentioned somewhere.

It’d be interesting if there were other types of demons besides the sex kind.

Half Black Half White does actually have a term. Mulato.

I know, I’ve known Jimmy my entire life, I just like giving him crap.

What about this for a title Living Nightmares?
or what about Binders and Beasts?

Now this, I did answer somewhere. There are so many kinds of real monsters in the world that you can’t know about them all. I occasionally will throw in another one you’ve met, or one you don’t think is real (and might not be), or someone you’re looking at who may or may not be a species you have heard of.

Kitsunes can smell magic and thus sniff out monsters. You will have to rely on rumor, investigation, and reputation.

Yes, there are other monsters in the game besides the player characters, harpies, and kitsune. Those monsters are either irrelevant to the main plot, or must be discovered.

Grumble! But know I want to know more!

Ghosts? Zombies? Witches? Eldritch abominations of times long past?..flying spaghetti monsters?

Ah man iv read up on Kitsunes I think that would be a really kool race to play as.

I would love to play as a kitsune

That’d be interesting, being the troll of monster society.

@Sashira You’ve probably already thought of this, but it’d be really interesting to have some sort of flashback/dream of the Wendigo’s past. I for one am very curious as to how exactly they became what they are.

@Shoelip I think you mean “Mulatto”, and fyi people haven’t used that word (or mutts) in over a century to officially describe Mixed Race people (like “Negro” for Black people). I certainly don’t describe myself as a Mulatto/a (besides I’ve got way to much to keep track of). Though I suppose being a “mutt” is much better than being like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_II_of_Spain.

@Durxa Mixed race is how you describe them or depending on the mixture you can have Blasians (Black and Asian), Blatinos (Black and Latino), Wasians/Eurasian (White and Asian), Watinos (White and Latino), etc in any combinations. But those are much more informal. And then of course Mixed people can call themselves Black or Asian or just Latino, but that’s another conversation entirely.

@Sashira I think Mixed-Race fits the best and is broad enough to include any kind of mixture, including people who are a MGMP- Multi-Generational Mixed Person (like me!) . I love the inclusive nature of the game. It doesn’t come off “we all make a perfect rainbow of diversity”, but just a more realistic representation of America. Btw, thanks for the line about having cheekbones to die for lol, so true!

Sashira do you think we could change the sexes/gender identities to include intersex and trans instead of “its complicated”?

Eh, I don’t describe myself as Eurasian and I don’t use the word Mulatto either. People like coming up with labels for things though don’t they. God forbid we actually call things what they are.

Labels are just a part of society and perhaps human nature. My sociology major friend always says “a society without limits is no society at all.” It’s the connotation people attach to words/labels that create so many problems.

Those connotations are the whole point of labels. Without them you may as well just be literal.

I’m not sure I follow you. I meant along the lines of for example:

Someone is gay and a female , and for some reason people believe that because they’re a lesbian they must be masculine in nature. Some people place negative associations to words.

Most words/labels are literal. A tree is a tree, a ball a ball, etc.

I guess that depends on how specifically you want to define the word label. If it’s just another word for noun then sure, lots of them are literal, but noun is already the word for noun, and two words meaning the exact same thing is kind of a waste. To me a label is not just a noun, but a specific word people use to refer to something that implies other things that are assumed to be true regardless of whether they are.

This thread got off topic pretty fast

@Shoelip I think I understand what you mean now. I just think of a label as a label. When I think of a lesbian, I just think of a female who sleeps with or has slept with other females. I don’t even presume that the same lesbian has ever had romantic/emotional feelings for other females.

@KitsuneGoto Sorry, the conversation evolved from a game topic on diversity.

how do your characters feel about being a monster?
