while there is 3 types of vegitarians in my mind and im not any. i would agree that 2 of those types would not want to cook meat and with 1 of those 2 only cook meat for family with protest at worst.
1 would be willing to cook meat for family, probably only family but not eat it, maybe be unhappy they had to cook it.
1 would just not cook meat. not even for family
1 would not only not cook meat but not tolerate meat eating within sight of them. or even allow smelling of meat cooking within their presence even if it was a bbq down the road. (not really a vegitarian or vegan in my eyes but a insane person)
note im not denouncing Vegans or vegitarians. im agreeing and explaining meaning
but i am denouncing the less sane ones while explaining they to are a type. the first two are sane.
Hahaa agreed with both of you here. It would be funny that the reason why MC keeps burning the turkey is because theyâre vegetarian. But yes, in all seriousness, iâll add an alternative in the next update
Well Iâm a vegetarian from India, I consume neither meat nor eggs, and whilst Iâm a bit repulsed by the sight and smell of it due to my upbringing, I donât think it makes sense for me to try and convince other people to not consume meat around me, especially strangers, tho if it was a friend at school or something then Iâd tell them to not eat meat around me, thatâs pretty common amongst vegetarians in India so they donât mind that.
That said I do get your point about people who try and force strangers to not consume meat just to accommodate them
Additionally, I got the option to text both Qiu and Shay for boxing and lunch. Said yes to both of them. Only got the Qiu section before it took me straight to the winter fair.
Heh, came across a picture of a rather cute Asian model that immediately made me think of our sporty boy Shay, the muscles that tattoos that rebel mischief âbad boyâ type of smirk.
Also a case of real life writing the plot a bit but with the new Trump administration returning to Singapore is starting to look more appealing for mc here in spite of how difficult it still is to be gay in Singapore if youâre not both wealthy and willing and able to quietly fly under the radar.
I promise that once this thing releases Iâll commit to making a second mc for proper romancing the pants of off Qiu run. As for my main, lead singer, mc sorry Carl but he totally ships Joony and Qiu (JooniQ, you can even pronounce it is unique) now and heâll always have a soft spot for Qiu too, but the time when he was madly in love with Qiu is over. As the mc themselves can say Qiuâs unwillingness to fight for them when it mattered did hurt and yeah it did take my main mc years to finally get over Qiu and now heâs finally in a better place emotionally, if not quite yet career-wise.
Speaking as a reader of your work now, I find it fascinating how Qiu, Shay and my main mc are all in some sense the tragic products of how Singaporean society treats LGBTQ people.
Oh and I also encountered a bug, when choosing to meet Qiu in the coffee shop the mc returns to the restaurant where the class reunion is, even though my mc didnât go to the reunion.
And a repeat of my previous request if youâll consider moving some of the covers, including Grandma got run over by a reindeer, from the beginning of the set of Shay and his band to the end again so the mc can (co)lead sing those covers with Shay and the band again. The headcanon where mcâs brother and mother both will not let that go for many Christmases to come is too good to give up, particularly should that be mcâs first performance video to go viral in much of Asia and maybe globally, depending on the success stat for singer mc.
The new version of the band scene isnât bad per se but I liked the old one better where mc was on stage with Shay and his band for a bit longer and sung in some of the covers as well, instead of just doing one of their own songs. The new scene feels more formal and somewhat out of tune with the loose holiday vibe the old one had. I also miss from the old version the part where, dependent on success, a handful of people from the crowd could already recognize the mc, that was flattering and a nice reward for upping career success as a singer.
Been a while, and now re-playing after a time, I ran the whole âdoth protests too muchâ with Qiu, just wanting to be friends even when you keep running into them every chance you get.
Class reunion.
Lunch shenanigans.
Their apartment.
Then you get down to Qiu finally just vomitting everything they felt they should have like yearssss⌠ago, and you keep eating food together. They try to be innocuous but honest, but end up dropping too many hints, and MANNNN⌠does it feel so desperate and heartbreaking because theyâre both trying too say so much. Yet, theyâre both still kind of stunted from their history together, and the things they were unable to communicate with one another (at least, Qiu, mostly).
THAT OPTION.
OMG.
Where you decide to be wholly selfish and just tellQiu to tell you that âI love you.â
OMG.
And they do it! They do it! Not likeâŚokay, sureâŚthey checked off the relationship box, and hooray.
Qiuâs face turns all soft and tender with hope and penance, and they tell you exactly what you want to hear. OMG. Legs twiddling and kicking madly as I laughed and cheered for fictional characters.
I feel like the platonic part of being platonic soulmates with Qiu disappears pretty quick when you go to reconcile. Why are there potential kiss scenes? Why is my MC apparently acting like the two of them were romantic ships in the night? No, we were platonic! MC just wanted their friend back, whereâs all this romance coming from?
You have no idea how surprised I was to find a Singapore based story. Itâs so relatable and a little uncanny. Iâm downright laughing at all the quirky unique Singapore traits mentioned everywhere. Thanks so much for the story! Canât wait for more!
@J_N Totally see hat youâre saying - in the latest edits, I wanted to prune some of these branches so it doesnât end up being too unwieldy for me to keep track of all the ways MC can potentially feel about Qiu in the past.
Youâre right! In the latest edit that Iâll eventually be releasing (Iâve been trying to address this and give MC/Qiu more time to discuss this )
@RiversEdge Ahh!! So happy you found it relatable, and enjoyed the little Singapore easter-eggs/references throughout the IF. This means so much to me!! Canât wait to release the next chapter and see what you guys think too!
Teasers for Ubin
Iâve made solid progress on the Ubin Chapter this month, and I feel like Iâve written something Iâm proud of at last!
Iâm planning to release 3 âteaserâ snippets in October (Nat, Qiu, Shay) first for ko-fi/patreon supporters, then to the public! Hereâs the schedule:
