in my opinion some of those are some solid ideas.
I like sci-fi and this is an unusual perspective to go to for something like this, so I’m interested in seeing what you do with this idea.
I love that anime Infinite Stratos, have you watched season 2? There is one girl who tries to create her own IS but even with all her intelligence isnt able to get it fully operational. I think it would be cool to have 2 mechanics working for the one operator. Could have conflict between the two or romance or try to win favour with the operator? Maybe you can change your operator mid career following as there’s an opening with a different operator. Or an accident depending on who’s the operator the protagonist ends up with.
Can’t wait for the demo and see how you put your ideas together. Good luck
Ah the IS…you miss, have gained my approval when it comes to taste in anime. Although I have to stay on topic, so what I meant to say was “The potential for the upcoming upgrade systems are high, perhaps they will allow different power sources for your mech.”
Meanwhile a terrorist organization and your twin sister will try to steal your machine when nobody is looking…
Lol ikr? That so irritated me T_T"
@Divinity_One, how do you plan to do skill upgrades? Like, do you major in offence or defence? Or special abilities? Have you thought about stats?
I have time to comment on this now. All right!
The description of Mech Mechanic reminds me of an anime with large, customized robots I saw that seemed to be use for entertainment purposes, except they played sports. Or maybe I’m misinterperating everything, I don’t know.
I can see potential with the game as well, but I have nothing much to say towards the setting. Is it cyberpunk with mechas? Dystopia? Utopia? I’m not sure if the game is set in our world or in yours, and I’m wondering what megacorp or industry manufactured these objects, so there’s that as well.
Either way, regardless of how many ideas are running through your head, I’m playing this once you release the demo/work in progress.
@Silverstone
That’s the real question isn’t it? Im toying with a few ways to go about it. A majority of the main stats are actually social as opposed to mechanical. Its not just about repairing the power suits, but also about winning over an elite operator to take you on. So at the moment there are two main stats i am certain of. Confidence, and Morale.
Confidence is self explanatory. Its how sure you are about being able to complete a task, or make a case for yourself. A high confidence shows everyone around you a good image, that you might be someone to keep an eye on.
Morale is another matter. In a setting full of competition its easy to become singled out, bullied, or even just have a string of bad luck. Morale will effect quite a lot of things, but having low morale is not necessarily a bad thing. It just means your character will act in different ways given certain situations. Low morale = introverted character, where a high moral will mean a more outgoing character.
I also am pretty sure I will have a Lonewolf/Team Player slider as well. A lonewolf stands apart and relies only on themselves, but a team player is willing to work with others and share idea. Which you decide to do will effect a great many things as the story progress’s.
As for everything else specific to the powered suits, I’ve yet to center on anything I’'m willing to share just yet. Needless to say you will have choices to develop your character to be more proficient in certain area’s then others, which will alter the sort of upgrades and maintenance they can perform on a specific suit. I am toying with the idea that some training paths will only benefit specific pilots. Your character would have opportunity at an early stage to learn about the potential operators, and thus plan out their learning to ‘chase’ a specific pilot. But thats not set in stone at this point.
@ThisisSymbolic
Its a near future story so the world is more or less the same except with clear technological advances. The games itself are war games, duels between fighting mechs or even organized events between partnered squadrons. Most normally events are head in special battle arenas which are more or less normal arena’s with shielding walls to protect the audience from harm. Even if its a sport, the mechs use real ordinance and injury’s do happen. I can’t go into a none more detail at the moment, still working a lot of specifics out.
theses duals are between professionals considering its a sport, so is there any “underground” matches going to be available? Being illegal fights(and very relaxed on rules), high risk, high reward. ?
