I realize I am also late to this, but that demo was glorious and I would love to be part of the testers if you’re still looking. <3
Additionally, I named my top hat Sir Reginald and have not been disappointed. The comedy is right up my alley and I’ve loved every reference from Danganronpa to LoZ and everything in between.
I still want to do the testing soon, but I’ve ended up really having quite a few issues with creating an incomplete version of the game and using the automatic testing of it. (Additionally, have been in a bit of a creative slump after spending so much time writing).
The game is so far along, I’m starting to think I might as well finish the creative actual writing before I turn my energy to trying to implement save states etc and learning new parts of choicescript - soz to all, and I’m not sure if it would be easier than I think to rewrite the game for a Len-route only beta test - it’s more that the concept of completely going back and railroading the game into the Len romance is probably more effort than it’s worth when the whole thing could be done in some due time.
Am currently working on ending 3/6 so completion is in sight <3
Well, you definitely need a save system before you beta…so do what you gotta do, lovely! This community is nothing if not patient. Also, you are allowed creative slumps, even when we arent amidst a freaking global pandemic, sooo remember to take it easy on yourself. We’ll.still be here ☆
I’ve been hired as a game designer specialising in narrative for one of the world’s most successful historical fiction games companies! (think: literally the most influential historical games company) I can’t talk about the specifics here, because I’m unsure about what the nondisclosure agreement facilitates. However, as soon as I move abroad in October and actually start the job, I’ll know a little more about what I’m allowed to do with regards to making small and indie games on my own.
I’m fairly certain a lot of people who work at this company make indie games or smaller games on the side, so it should be fine, but I just want to 100% check it’s OK. I talked a fair amount about interactive fiction in my job interviews, so the other game designers working there were very encouraging about me writing interactive fiction, so I’ll just have to wait to see how it plays out.
Writing narrative fiction has turned out to be such valuable life experience and has helped me a lot! I’ve never had a full time job before and here I am going to be a full time writer for a huge games company.
Look forward to fully announcing where I’m working and when I can move DWMU (which is v nearly done) forward! The fact that DWMU is a multi-genre adventure in a lot of set environments based off external sources and other media was quite helpful especially for starting to write genre period fiction, too!
