My whole Sunday (and possibly week+) is reserved for this
Can’t wait for it!
Gotta replay the first two games first!!! I’m so excited
I think I’d rather wait until the save feature gets added to Sordwin before replaying haha
No, that will happen when I submit Lux to HG. The beta will not include any option to load a character but it does have a quick creator so that you can choose a general backstory for your beta run through.
Oh no, it’s just for refreshing sincerity it’s been a while!!
Aaaaand…done! For a limited time only, the full beta of Book 3 of the Evertree Saga! Your help in making this game the best it can be is much appreciated!

I really hope you all enjoy it. Remember to blur any spoilers in the main thread and please do DM me any errors, glitches or issues so I can get them fixed in time for the official release. This has been (and continues to be!) a huge project so please have fun exploring Lux and all its secrets!

I noticed you added spy to the list of back-alley/ Cloak & Dagger careers(thank you for that option). However, I noticed that the skill requirements are stealth and observation and which to me seems like something that an assassin would also use in their line of work in order to observe the actions, habits or security of their target quietly , which makes me wonder are we allowed to pursue more than one career/combine careers if we have the skill level and match the requirements ? I’m really enjoying my time at the dueling academy, even though I didn’t do much outside of become friends with the popular kids and train, you did a great job at making me interested in the side characters.
Thoughts on multiple cases: Once again I really do love that the player has the freedom to choose what they want to do with their life( for the most part).[spoiler]Since I decided to focus on my dreams of being a murderer for hire, I didn’t focus on investigations at all (except for follow up on Lady Anya) which kind of made the ending of me being wrapped up in Geoffrey’s murder and Imperion’s power plot seem like I was just being snatched up into something that’s obviously meant to be the main plot point despite the fact I did nothing to work on that case, making it seem like I was experiencing a go back to the plot you’ve gone off course moment.
Speaking of Lady Anya, the fact that her case seemed to be resolved the next day( which could be a lie to maintain public image),made the urgency of the situation underwhelming, I doubt that the case itself will make me feel like that but from first impressions and investigating after the fact it made me feel that I could’ve been doing something else. I do like and appreciate the info we’re getting on Lord Imperion without you giving us everything. He honestly reminds me of Little Finger from ASOIAF.
Thoughts on Dandy Thorne and his side plot: I’m glad our RO and companions have their own things going on and they’re not just helping us with what we’re doing at the time. I really want to know more about his siblings and why he has a sour relationship with them ? It’s hilarious that his brother is into the MC. Overall, I thought it was a solid demo that continuously held my attention & interest , and I’ll do an additional review for my 2nd playthrough.
Did I read too quickly, or did Malcolm Corduroy (who runs the opera house) become Dantimus Corduroy?
Ohhhhh my stars, I decided to check the forum randomly just in case and here you are with the beta! Thank you for sharing with us! Dying now. Happy Holidays, gotta go re-read Sordwin.
I’m curious, are the dwarves in Evertree Universe small, like Lord of the Rings Small or more like average height? I cant imagine how my MC and Daisy performed a group hug with Ruby lol.
So hyped up about this I would love to be able to provide imput but where I live I have very bad signal. But if you want a idea I had for a possible story arc it would be like a murder mystery and a ghost has possed one of the guests and has killed someone. And you have to find who it is or something along these lines.
I noticed that duelist’s secondary weak stat has changed from stealth to willpower in the beta. Is this gonna affect Sordwin too?
Not sure if some of this counts as a spoiler but I’m just gonna spoiler anything to do with the demo-
Green? Thank you, Winter. Now I have to rework my entire design… my beautiful purplish blues…
Other than complaints about hair colors, I really enjoyed being able to spend a day with Winter, even on a job, and learn the tiniest bit more about them. And that you can actually seemingly start the path for something real, without compromising their character, which is good because I love them. And if they had to change a lot for a romance, I dont think I would be interested in their romance. But they follow nearly exactly the personality I remember being laid out for them. I’m not here to fix Winter, I’m here to date Winter
Case 3 though, at least with Winter, I feel is extremely difficult. That just might be my shit memory, but I feel like I know the identity of the orc guy, but I forgot his name, and it wasnt in the clues, so I couldn’t properly test my theory. And that… was a bit difficult. I have not compared it to the other cases during that day though, but the rest of Lux passed much easier.
I really like the having to go multiple different places to solve the mayor’s murder. It feels natural to have a lead, it give you something then lead to the next place, then that leading you somewhere else. Of course, for time’s sake it can’t be like, 10 different locations, but it’s nice that it all wasn’t in one spot. Like, Apothecary, learn the name of the poison, get pointed to the Blackout Inn, and that points you somewhere else that could sell this shit. Feels nice to me, personally. But any more having to jump between multiple spots would feel nice to me.
Was Kyra/Kyran trying to murder us? Or do they only do part time in murder?
Anyway, those were just my first thoughts on my first playthrough. Might make another massive reply stating my opinions when I play through it a few more times.
Thank you everyone! This is all great! If you have extensive feedback, do send it to me in a message as that’s easier for me to collate and correct (and reply to as well) but I’m so excited that you’re all reading it so quickly haha!
@riverleafing Haha! Yeah, I noticed that just today! I’ve been working on this book for too long. I don’t even remember the name changing
@CreoleGuy519 Thank you for your feedback. I have no plans to merge of combine jobs as that would be an insane number of combinations. I think it’s interesting that you felt snatched back to the main plot. I can promise that the purpose is merely to show that all stories will continue with or without your input and if you ignore one plot, it won’t wait for you. But which plot is most important, I leave up to the reader
@Greyscales It will yes. I had to change a few stats for balancing reasons. I hope it won’t affect older play throughs too much but when Sordwin gets its update, everything will match Lux.
@Blosssy_Blue Very glad you enjoyed the return of that RO. Case 3 is definitely meant to be one of the hardest parts of the game, but you make a good point re. maybe including more information in the clues for people who do piece it together And yup, couldn’t fit any more locations in this first half but rest assured that City of Lies will continue in the same way, assuming that’s the plotline you decide to follow!
Hi again! Is there going to be a regular save system? I know it’s possible because of the crazy amount of demos I am reading, but I don’t know if you have to wait on that or something since you’re submitting it. I really like to do multiple routes, sometimes all at once. Mostly I read late before bed, and I made it pretty far on last night then fell asleep and lost my progress.
I was going to try to wait for the full release, then I was going to try to wait for the weekend. About to start my third playthrough so clearly I’ve failed at both Also Winter has curls? Love it, kind of want to ruffle them.
Second this, my browser security setting just made me lose three in-game days of progress. This a a WIP that branches like crazy, my compliments for that, but it is annoying to have to replay everything from the start when you just want to make one slightly different choice for testing purposes.
Yeah, I’ve just taken to making a list of various “what if” things I’m most curious to explore, rather than 1 subtle difference.
Still slow-going for testing purposes , but more exciting to play around with!
I’m on cloud nine, just went through my fourth replay! Now I want the fourth book so badly Orion just made me love him even more, he’s the most mysterious of all the love interests.
Curse me and my love for cold and emotionally unavailable characters @ThomB you’re a genius, I love your writing!!! Take my wallet and deed to my house.
