Okay, I’m going to be answering a few major questions now. It appears all the nitty gritty stuff already has had some attention from @CaballeroDeAndromeda and he’s pretty well on point in the answers. As he should be. I think he knows the combination of stuff needed better than I do at this point.
I have noted reported bugs and fixed those. As stated previously, any fixes will take a couple of weeks at least to hit the version that you may or may not be reading, depending on your re-read habits. Any major changes (such as adding scenes or further choices) are not currently on the to-do list. I may come around to those when I start working on a sequel.
I have read through all the reviews I have managed to scrounge together (mainly from the storefronts) and welcome anyone to send or post critique of LoA. Any notes will directly affect future projects via accrued knowledge and experience.

I’m going to address one common criticism, which is absolutely valid and I’m not trying to skirt around any responsibility on this matter; interactivity.
Yes, this is a “game” written in CS, and obviously the connotation is that it is going to be an gamebook like many other Hosted Games or in fact the official CoG titles. To me this was always an interactive book, never a game. Thus choices mattered, molded the story, but were infrequent. Consider this an apology to anyone who purchased Lords of Aswick and expected a choice on every (or every other) page.

Second thing: I will not be pointing out exact numbers or choices you need to make in order to get to anything in the story. As at the beginning of thread, I may give hints in directions nobody has discovered or talked about. @CaballeroDeAndromeda and everyone who has read through the story can at their leisure share their knowledge, just not in an over-spoilery fashion.

And here’s the part where I break that rule I just let you guys know: Pregnancies are a random result with the success ratio dependent on the woman basically. With the Bastard, it’s roughly 50% chance. @MarcD

@TumTum Excellent question, and I did have an extremely long thought process agonizing over that. I could have made it loosely historical England, after all. Here is my reasoning to not use England: As much as the medieval period in the story, from everything from clothes to castle architecture to titles, is heavily based on England, the actual religious and cultural structures have been altered and will be shifting even more in future titles depending on choices. Also, in period England, titles were often not tied as closely tied to family lines and the lands were in fact entirely run by officers of the Crown, not the nobility. If anyone wishes me to elaborate on this point, I can make a longer post dedicated solely on this subject matter. Right now I’m trying to keep it tl;dr.

Question regarding post-Civil War:

As a quick question to the community, how many have been to the crusade and see what it has to offer? I see that largely the questions revolve around the civil war.

got exile too the crusade one time. interesting story line. feels a bit random in how you get there but that might be me.

would have like, (but understand why it is not there) the choice too go on the crusade of my own free will.

doing my duty too god and all ( with some support from the crown or not)

so far i like the game. there are some little things that bug me a bit. mostly on a personal level.

also if one does stay in the civil war what if anything does faith do for you? had 50+ too 70 faith and it showed me nothing? unless i need higher faith then that for it too do something?

I would have loved an option to send your brother to the Crusade to win glory for himself.

isnt in order to marry lady cailen you need to have high piety? Cause at first you both not understand each other but when you using the true one language you can at least understand a little bit of conversation?

So, is there any way to press the claim of a legitimate son with Marguerite? King Richard tells you can, but it never comes up again.

The early game builds up really well, but honestly the late game feels pretty linear. Take your potential wives for example save for the slight personality differences and who gives birth to who it feels again linear without any real difference between them. The same goes with putting the bastard, the daughter, or the cousin on the throne. Granted it was made clear their difference in management ideologies, but again there’s no real difference between them after the fact.

Take the idea of building a new capital city, I expected them to different ideas as to how to deal with the burned city. One to go for rebuilding, one ruler to build a new city, and perhaps Stephan you could convince to go either way.

Corallary: If it’s actually possible to convince your monarch to not build the new city I take the above back as so far I’ve only played through the game a couple of times.

Thirdly when it comes to marrying off your daughter I believe the effort should have been taken to write a little bit about the other marriage candidates… essentially a short scene with each of the potential suitors to show their personality, and then a follow up benefit when you make your choice.

3.1 Also why not marry your daughter to the Stephen should you go down that route to cement your influence on the realm.

  1. The ending felt rushed… I mean you put a lot of effort to build up your land early on, so I feel the options as what to do with it near the end of your days could have been done better.

I had 20 Piety and i ALWAYS marry Cailen. The requirement is high courtesy, not piety.

Concerning Marguerite’s bastard son: After playing through that for 6+ times, and after the 50% chance confirmation from @Goshman and @CaballeroDeAndromeda both, I’m almost sure that there must be yet another trigger to get the bastard event… So, yet again, if anyone can offer a tip or advice on the matter, it would be much appreciated, since I sincerely just can’t get it.

Are you choosing her as your wife?

Thanks for the reply, @CaballeroDeAndromeda ! Actually no, since I believe in order to have a bastard son, one must not be married to the girl, right? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Or am I missing something here?

You are correct, that is how bastard children are born. However, you have to propose marriage to her. She then shows up with the kid. So you’re telling us you might have condemned this poor woman to live as a single mother at least 6 times? You absentee father…

The one thing I dislike is if you create a ensignia almost identical to the Kings it gets no mention…

This may have been addressed, but one possible bug/error is in this sentence:

The last person to enter the Cathedral filled with nobles, clergy, upper gentry and foreign delegations, was Queen Augustine. He wore a simple off-white robe and sandals. This was the part of the ceremony where she showed her humility as she approached the altar and the archbishops of God. <<

In the middle sentence, “He wore a simple off-white robe and sandals” should be a “She” if you supported Augustine.

And you were right, @CaballeroDeAndromeda ! Worked like a charm! Now I feel bad for all the times I left poor Lady Marguerite waiting for a proposal… :flushed:

Thanks a bunch for the help, lad!

I think I might’ve found a bug, I married Lady Marguritte and had two children with her one eldest daughter, and a younger so, I named my daughter Sapphire and my son Joshya, however in text it shows them both as having the same name as my son. When I took my daughter to court it kept calling her Lady Joshua instead of Sapphire

I Aerae Vulgaris: 1269
Name: Edward de Essic
Gender: Male
Age: 37
Wealth: You are a true noble with well governed lands and people.
Style: Noble Knight of the Holy Order of the Vigil
Heraldry: Sable, a Lion couchant regardant Or
Valour: 61%
Nobility: 58%
Courtesy: 45%
Piety: 89%
Humility: 82% Hubris: 18%

So, with 89% piety I still died during the crusades with really no logical reason why. One scene I met the lady knight and the next I was dead. Is that supposed to happen? It felt really unjustified.

spoiler Is there anyway to survive the wine poisoning in the Crusader path?

dont “King pit” and you should be fine xD if you kill the King of valmagne ,the princess of valmagne send you a gift, i mean wine poison xD

I don’t believe I ever did kill the King of Valmagne. I did fight with him in the battle, but I spared his life.
