Just a polite reminder, you can publicly request for beta testers, but for the love that is holy keep the actual beta private (best to use a private PM thread).

And yes some of the ideas for this year comp are inspiring and unique! Only 2 days till the big reveal! oooooOOOO

@Porter Yes! More entries are always welcomed! And your submissions always have been fun!

I’ll be honest and 'fess up that I don’t even have the outlining done (whatever that is) :space_invader:

How much info can you put on a looking for beta testers post? Can you say what the game is about, or does it have to be completely silent?

Please totally silent not even name publicaly. If I see any game author associate with a game name

#It will be an automatic zero in my score. And I will asking from totally banning from competition.
Games have to be complete anonymous. It is on rules. And this year I could give zeros

Try to keep comments about the story not given at all, we are grading this blind to prevent any favoritism. Besides usually when the call for beta testers is given people tend to show up in droves but those that give feedback tend to be a little rarer.

What @poison_mara said, but just put out a request for beta testers eg: Jacic looking for beta testers for CSComp 2017. If the testers want more infomation that should be done via PM.

For the prospective beta testers: it is okay to test more than one game at a time, but do not spread yourselves too thin. The authors do need your feedback in a timely manner.

My advice is searching for texters you know will help because friends and not random people. You need dedicated testers due the insane time limit

So it would be fine to ask in a new thread for beta-testers for a secret project and any further information is talked via PM?

Correct! That is the short and sweet of it.

Exactly that’s what you should do, just be careful and don’t give hints of what your game is because it has to be secret

You guys are all Spy vs Spy - :sparkler:

Fun is still important but fairness in judging is the utmost concern for all us judges.

We all want every participant in the contest to have a fair and equal chance to blow us away with their story.

I just want to add here - if you do test for more then one contestant, you must keep your feedback focused on each author and limited to their project only. If you say something like: “Mara is doing this in her game, you should too” - that is crossing several lines that shouldn’t.

Ideally, the authors should have no clue you are helping others as well.

Exactly what You say. That would be unfair. Beta testers in a contest like this should be fair and equitable and not give hints about other games.

I have a very questionable question right now that it was said that the game must be a complete secret. From what i understand the only thing we are aloud to do is to outline? and then when the theme is announce I suppose you sort of adjust it and you go on writing. I have only thought about 2 ideas, but one of the ideas is base on a concept that someone already publish in the forum. Can the idea base on the already publish concept be use or is it a no no since it’s not a secret?

You also can outline in advance, everyone, but you certainly aren’t obliged to do so. I haven’t in the past comps I’ve done until after the theme was announced, because I wanted to make sure the contest theme would be the foundation of my world building and plot–really intertwined with the whole piece.

That’s taken me in some really interesting directions in previous years…never mind the additional prizes. XD

If it is not a secret and I know is from you is a zero for me. Due it has to be anonymous So by rules I can’t judge it. You are creative sure you could get a better idea

No worries, I was just asking. That was just the back up.

I have to be clear to make people later don’t complaint about it. All authors has to be in equal conditions and that’s reason of the theme, need to original material and the anonymity
