Don’t know if this counts here, but I was finally able to confess to my irl friends that I’m trans, but have no idea about how to tell family.
I’d be interested in a variety of protagonist ages, really I certainly do enjoy the teen and early twenties stuff, but it’d be really nice to see some older protagonists in the mix too, and late twenties or thirties really shouldn’t be on the older side anyway
(I say, like a hypocrite, while I mostly write stuff with teen or early twenties protagonists )
Yeah, I think I’m with you on this. I mean, I would very much like to see a lot more stories with LGBT characters in which the story doesn’t entirely revolve around being LGBT, but I don’t think this should diminish stories that are more about LGBT issues such as coming out either. Especially when these are coming from authors who are writing about their own experiences; this can be cathartic and informative and really expressive as well. Everyone’s experience is different, as well, so there’s still room for lots more coming out stories than have been told. (And, well, one bit of interactive fiction which I really like is literally entitled Coming Out Simulator.) I just really like both kinds of stories and everything in between and would like to see lots more of all of those!
What I will love is as woman a story where the woman could be powerful and hero and that. And not be forced to see her being an angry sad bitch because sh has not kids and a husband. And her deep desire is become traditional wife.
I am not saying that is not something it happens, because it does. But why In hell all successful women in media are or Obsessed with carrying babies and marry or being crazy not empathy angry monsters?
And don’t get me start with If is a rich mature woman that likes going with younger males because is a Casanova. If the millionaire is a guy all is portrayed like Super cool 007 cars etc If is a woman she is a bitch that is ridiculed all movie or whatever until she ends alone and the youngster go with a submissive traditional woman to have traditional kids.
Not all woman in world primary goal is carrying kids in their belly. It should show that a woman can have other objectives that have a husband and that doesn’t make us monsters…
And that I am a cis hetero woman so I can’t imagine how bad lgtb has to see stuff. Then when people crying about SJW destroying gaming because not EVERYTHING is hetero cis male design… I get angry as hell. Because EVERYTHING IS DESIGN FOR THEM AND HELL THEY ARE NOT THE MAJORITY.
No they aren’t, lgtb is a Big chunk of population far more than they imagine. Then woman is at least near half of world population… So no Those anti lgtb machist are entitled. white hetero cis man aren’t the king of universe that have to be all designed for you even my own role playing Mara…
Sorry for the ranting. It is i read some beautiful posts I get about the Ubisoft debacle. With so many cis hetero man crying WE ARE THE MAJORITY and other mean stuff all we here has heard before from those kind of people.
If you ever write an expansive series like Cata you would get there naturally.
While you may be part of the largest plurality of people on the planet the media is almost as bad at catering to you as it is to guys like me. “So sad…”, as the leading politician of our age would say, but sadly true.
Tell me I can’t play online games because All is hetero cis male starting Shouting like pigs all the damn Racists and Anti women comments they could gather of… And don’t let me started with the CREEPY ones trying to flirting. Using stuff like Latino accent is very caliente… Caliente would be the swears I shouting this guys that i will make them fus ro dah out of their keyboards! I mean you could know cool people but 90% people is not.
I am more keep swearing and fus ro dah But I have to buy that shirt to use it as pyjamas
It’s ridiculous. The vast majority of gay/bi, male romance options are effeminate, boring, last-minute tack-on’s (I see you, Jaal), or just nonexistent.
And hooboy, my opinions on the way women in media, particularly games, are portrayed are so vast and complex…It raises my blood pressure to even think about. It’s almost the 20’s again, and sometimes the social climate feels like the 20’s, for a woman. Our voices are being stifled, our rights are being diminished, and goddammit we can’t even get proper representation in an effing video game!
lolol
here my rulez of MMO-ing lol
1- Never get a mic or mumble or whatever…
2- never assume that the FAQ that everyone signed to play will protect you or that the Dev who created the game will protect you against harassement and well everything , they are eager to shuttdown account for cheating , selling illegal credits…but they wont move a finger to stop the toxic behavior…boys will be boys…apparently
3- assume every player is a SHE…I’m a she…so I assume every player is a SHE…for some reason…it annoy them . Oh no…dude…stop calling me dude…you are a SHE…cose I’m a dude ! lol
4- avoid gathering area…thats where they breed…its kinda yuky…bring Tampons…for Bombardement!

I don’t think that’s derailing the conversation at all @Eiwynn. I’d be very interested to know why you had to hide your gender.
I’ve been a serious online gamer my entire life. I’ve never hid my gender, but I know I’ve been treated differently because of it.
Testing:
In order for some of the game developers to take me serious as a Raider and/or PvPer and for them to sometimes even listen to feedback.
My greatest humiliation was being laughed out of the room by a group of Microsoft employees but I had developers say things like: “But, did this happen to one of the others?” and had them go to others of my testing team to “verify” things.
Gaming:
Some of the early high-end raiding guilds in different MMOs (Everquest, Star Wars and DAoC) kicked you out if you were a girl … so in order to get the content I wanted to get I had to hide my gender.
After WoW came out things started to change in the MMO scene where gender was treated different but mostly accepted. I also think Vent and other VOiP apps are responsible for a better acceptance.
In today’s world, most developers I know (and I would hazard to say most every developer in general) realize that all types of people play their game at all levels of intensity and dedication, so from that side of things I would expect an entirely different type of experience.
First, @Eiwynn, I am so sorry those things happened to you. That is so frustrating and disheartening.
Ugh, I hate when this happens. I have it happen all the time in work situations. Like, bro, I know how to build a computer and stuff. Can you just listen to me, instead of going to my direct report and expecting him to know better? A penis does not equate with more knowledge/skill, thank you.
I used to be in high end raid guilds in EQ2. Seriously, right at the top. World wide firsts, on call for contested mobs 24hrs a day… the whole package.
Nobody ever kicked me out, but I was never taken as seriously, and I had to play a healer. I started out on a conjurer, which was right near the top in terms of dps at the time, and had great raid buffs. The first night I talked in Vent. I had three different ppl tell me I should make a healer my main.
Ya, EQ2 was after WoW and I heard (from my sister) that there, things were better than EQ1 which is where I started.
I decided to quit EQ2 when the cake blew up and killed me in the first week of launch and stuck with WoW after that.
Yea - been there and done that. I had raid leaders in WoW do things like switch out to a guy hunter from me to pull bosses on runs because they were “more comfortable knowing a guy was pulling…”
In WoW, I actually became the recruiter in charge of our guild’s recruiting (not guild leader), and I worked well with the developers… they even named a Blood Elf trainer after my main character in their first expansion.
So things have changed and are changing for the better.
I can’t ever imagining things going back to the early days.
No because is clear example of how bad women and lgtb issues so totally on title. People wants to forget that most part of media be a girl or lgtb is a direct reason to be insulted and treated like shit. A situation that normally is invisible an easy to conceit. And that makes all worse for everyone that has to suffering all those assholes.
I have to share some positive examples, too. I started online gaming very late, about 15 years ago. Normal gaming started nearly 35 years ago^^. And when gaming with groups of my age, middle twenties on, I have mostly good experiences with grown ups. The smaller ones I could shut down by behaving like their mom^^ but I very much prefer grown ups for playing, as they tend to respect women a lot more, at least in the german groups I played with.
I think it is a bit sad, that publishers do soooo less for us, but what I really, can not understand is, why people react angry only because some elemants that are for women or LGTB people. Do they not realize, that that does not mean that they are getting less? And how unsure and afraid must they be, to feel attacked by a thing in a game? That is something I just can not understand.
well…I can’t answer that question…since y’know…I’m not the one getting angry for the pandering lol …
Homewhever the few ‘exuse’ or ‘explanation’ i’ve gotten…
are : Hetero and mens are the norm , so deal with it . Gay peoples are like 1% of total population , so for every one single thing thats given to gay peoples? we should get 10 times more . because we matter more , we are more in numbers and we are the ones feeding the money machine . (this was an answer from someone on old BSN forum , he was angry at the gay romance in DAI and claimed that the Hetero romance given to him was ugly and manly) .
A good exemple of that was a couple of months ago on Ubisoft forum , where I made a request for better romances in the futur like a DLC (before the DLC crap showed up that is) . And a Veterant of the franchise (meaning he played the assassin creed serie since day 1) came in my topic to ask me if ‘‘I was done asking for privilége and for Ubisoft to cater to me’’ . And that was from someone who had…what ? 7-8 assassin creed with a dude as the main character ? so years upon years ? and that ‘‘I had kassandra and should be happy with just that , and that Ubisoft shouldn’t cater to me anymore…since the real fanbase…aka him…has real request that need to be filled’’ . The thing this guy been asking for since Assassin Creed Odyssey came out , was that he wanted Ubisoft to make the real OLYMPUS in the game .
And well…they havent added that and from something whitin the game , I doubt they do anytime soon .
So you know…the 1st Assassin Creed came out November 13, 2007 .
The list was :
Assassin’s Creed
Assassin’s Creed II
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
Assassin’s Creed III
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
Assassin’s Creed Rogue
Assassin’s Creed Unity
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
and as far as I know…save for Odyssey , Syndicate had a twin brother-sister duo . And the male had more content then female . Assassin Creed Liberation you can play as Aveline . But save for those two and they have no dialogues choices or romances , all the others games had a male lead in them .
