Legends of Ophelius (Latest update: 6.3.2018)

I notice people seem to be hung up on how many romance options are available for each gender, but to me, I would rather have one exceptionally well written options than three okay to good options

I agree but i think there needs to be 1 female 1 male and 1 non-binary available for each character. Sexualities doesn’t matter as long as they are not gay. Because then you need to consider the option where MC is a straight male and RO’s are gay + non-binary so there will be one or no options left.

I don’t think I’m following you here…

Why though? What i mean is if the RO can be straight and bisexual. So if a female and a male is straight and bisexual that makes two RO + 1 NB RO so in total 3, 2 guaranteed. You don’t need to tell if a character is straight or bisexual in the first place, you can let the reader assume what they want. I see i should’ve added this explanation in the former post… If you still disagree, why?

I’m still really confused.
Isn’t it the same, if you changed gay and straight around?

And if you are playing as gay, it’s pretty damn important whether an RO is straight or bi…

I think the “Sexualities doesn’t matter as long as they are not gay.” part of your quote was confusing. But I think I get what you meant now.

You meant if the character is gay then the romance options don’t matter if they’re only straight? And the other way around??

…Damn, i really think I’ll need to remove the gender locks btw. xD My story will be way too crowded with this many ROs. And like @2xs mentioned, they may came out underdeveloped if there’s too many, which i’d hate!

No let me phrase it clearer.

So if our male MC Jack is gay and our male RO is John, Jack can romance John. And If our female MC Victoria is straight, she can still romance John.

But if John was gay, Victoria would lack an RO.

And it doesn’t matter for a straight person to romance a bisexual opposite gender RO because even if they don’t accept a relationship with bisexuals, they can never know their RO is bisexual, they will just assume their RO is straight.

Sooo, if you make RO’s all bisexual, no one would lack romance options, but if you make some straight, you will need to make some of them gay to balance RO’s.

I get what your are saying, but I think there is a big difference between an individual who is gay vs bi vs non gender vs straight and that should and would impact how they are viewed. I don’t want to get into this discussion here, but it has been discussed at length in other posts. I want to stay on this particular story and say just that I prefer well developed romances even if there is nobody that fits my taste necessarily. I guess I am just a bit strange in that I will play any romance if well written whether or not it goes against my personal preferences.

I agree with you. I just meant to say it is a hard work to give equal romance chances while having straight and gay RO’s instead of bisexuals. And im more on the side of gender-swapping or having different RO’s instead of bisexual characters, just because of the reason you pointed out. I should’ve thought more and then write my last posts.

I believe it’s a nice thing to do :slightly_smiling_face:

There’s also the fact that one or two romances are already locked behind which class you pick.
If I chose to play as a straight male warrior I’m stuck with Uross and Savanna, but since my character is straight only Savanna is an option. Same with the straight male rogue since Titania is genderlocked to romance females. Even if I did play a bi character I’d only get 2 romance option if I choose the male warrior background. Where as I play as a female everybody is available to me. Sorry if I’m going crazy with this, romance is one of the main reasons I play these games and getting to romance everyone is something I love getting to do .

Me too, which is why I am being a little pushy about it. (And because my own preferences are amongst the ones with least options, I won’t deny that.)
I refer back to my “chart” in post 117.

I would say sorry about the pushing, @Tanja.K , but you invited it yourself! :kissing_heart:

By the way guys, I decided to remove all gender locks.

Reasoning: If i didn’t, I’d had to add in more characters, more RO’s and it’d just be ‘too much’ for the first game to handle. It’d be a crowded mess, to say the least.

Please don’t ask me to add an equal number of options for all preferences. These are the main or semi-main characters. Their personality is in tact with their gender. And no, I seriously can not add in more to make it even.

Take the good in with the bad; Fewer characters means they all have a chance to display depth and properly develop through time. Meaning, you’ll hopefully enjoy romancing or/and be-friending each and every one of them, despite thinking they’re not your type at the first glance.

I hope this decision does not disappoint you. I really think it’s for the best, as far as good writing goes.

As for removing the gender locks - Should have done it in the first place. The player should have the freedom to use their imagination when it comes to some things. And a NPC’s sexuality, is one of them.

Thanks for reading.

Goes back to writing and coding CH2 for the Rouge.

This is probably the best route to go, fewer characters means we get to spend more time with the characters at hand. Depth is what’s usual lost in games like these when there are to many pieces on the board. And quite honestly you’re not gonna be able to please everyone. It just means we get a better story in thee end with more memorable actors.

I must agree, i trust in your writing skills and i think there will be at least one great option for everyone. And as @Kungfuboom said, unfortunately you can’t please everyone. I really can’t wait for more chapters and see where this goes. I know it’s a hard process so im not asking for more; knowing that you work hard, actually more than that…

I hope everything goes as you will @Tanja.K

The Rogue’s chapter 2 is now live on dashington. ^^

Keep in mind there may be some pronunciation errors due to bad coding though. Otherwise, it should work now.

It was a really long chapter, with quite a bit of choices…here’s the highlight:

In your rogue character’s memory, you can chose to lie about your name to Titania.

She will think that’s actually your name (‘Hexter’), and will call you by it. Luckily for you, you get a chance to reveal your real name right of the bat as she calls you “Hexter” in the preset time…and even though admitting it now (after years of ‘friendship’) will get her mad, keep in mind that the longer you’ll keep it a secret, the more angry she’ll be once she finds out the truth.

Apology: Due to me writing ‘rouge’ instead of ‘rogue’ on more then…a hundred occasions, and then trying to fix it quickly by tapping the ‘replace with’ button…the upper cased rogue’s will appear as lowercase until fixed.

And I’ll do that first thing tomorrow morning (fix it, I mean), since I’m too tired at the moment and was hoping to catch some shut eye after finishing chapter 2.

Something I noticed, just after the rogue’s flashback it says “after that fatal day”

I assume you meant fateful, not fatal.

I remember it as ‘fateful’ and i was pretty sure. Mind playing tricks? Yeah probably…

I just re-read it to make sure I wasn’t seeing things.

It says fatal.

I actually meant my mind here… If i caused you to re-read it, sorry for it

Note to myself: Phrase your words better, dork.
