I dunno about that. It doesn’t have any zombies. There are tons and tons of zombie games out there, but almost none based on other horror genres.
I meant something like CoZ, but without the zombies. You’re left running around with pretty generic friends. I will probably work on writing the story and come back to coding later.

Maybe that’s a good idea. Design first, develop after.
True. Right now, the only character with even a sense of personality is Lily.
It may be a while before I return to the game-creating part of this project, but I am thankful for everyone’s support.

Hm, you could always make it more slashery with a different setup for relations and a few more characters based on architypes. Wouldn’t really make it less generic as a story per se, but there aren’t really any games like that that I’m aware of. Actually that just seems like going in a completely different direction, I just had to mention it because a non-linear slasher flick game where you build relationships with the NPCs before getting attacked has been a game idea I’ve wanted for a long time.
If you want to share what you decide to change about the characters and whatnot, I’m sure there will be people interested.

Great game mate hope there’s more soon
@Shoelip I like those ideas; I feel like I rushed the dialogue a bit to get to hackey-slashy action. You barely get to know Darren; just that he looks like a punk rockstar. As of the moment, Lily’s the only one with even half a personality and she’s an annoying high school brat, that’s all. I do want to extend the beginner’s dialogue so there are several occasions to build up both your character’s traits and their relationships (Or drag them down, either way) before the killer strikes.
I’d also like to add several variables on whom the killer actually is. Eg. It could be one of your friends, Colin, a third party like in Ib where the paintings come off the wall and chase you (although obviously not that specifically), or even you yourself.
@JLBH The game is on hold right now since I was trying to design and develop at the same time, but I’ve gone into the design process now and are going to develop it later; as Shoelip has already described.
I’ve been thinking a little bit about Darren’s name; right now the boys sound like the title of some 1950’s Looney Toon spinoff (Darren and Aaron). Does anyone really mind if I change it to something a little less common?
Not at all, it’s your game.

If anyone was to care about something like that enough for it to matter to them they’d almost certainly be in a minority.
Okie dokie, thanks for letting me know.
Currently, along with replacing Darren’s name (You’ll have to try to play again to find out what I changed it to though >D), I’ve been making minor tweaks to the opening scenes. You get the “Arrival at the Mansion” option along with your introduction to the game’s premise. I’ll need to edit other scenes to fit this though.
And while the scene will most likely have errors, Aaron haters…
…Step right up and hit Aaron in the face! Must be either a boy and choose to sock him in the face or a girl with 50+ strength.
Never mind; turns out I misnamed a variable. Whoops.
Anyway starting to add more paths.
After going back and forth through old discussions I saw one that caught my eye; Custom name variables. I want to give people an option to rename Alissa, Lily, Aaron and Romano to whatever they like (Say that Peter decided to rename them). I would implement this option in the prologue before anyone gets murdered. Of course you can leave them as the default names by not picking that option.
Argh I can never stick to a single plan >.< First I say I’m going to design then I continue developing, then I say I’m going to make new paths, then I decide to make an option to rename them, I’ll seriously need to get back on track. I’ve got a few assignments I need to finish but come weekend I will spend a lot of time on this game.
Right now the naming only goes to the second conversation document so once you reach the Search scene names will revert for now.
