Keeper of the Day and Night (Discussion)

it doesn’t have to do with Sera specifically, it Has to do with the nymphs overall, And although her subplot eludes to what happens, you don’t really get details on her route

there was also the massacre, something else she wasn’t supposed to survive but that was because of an unforeseen sacrifice, not what you’ll find out soon

Oh, ok, I get it now. I got to that part in Katia’s route now. That was interesting.

I’m wondering… What species do you prefer to play and why?

I like elementals. Nephilim and cambions are a bit too dualistic and political for my taste, I’m not much for the ‘fox’ part of kitsune (though I hear it gets some extra content with Sera so I might give it a go to see that) and while dragons are never bad, drakaina is in my opinion a bit of a come-down from a real dragon.

The various humans are a close second (hunter maybe third), but elemental is my first choice because I enjoy telekinesis and find the ‘turn bodily into your element’ thing cool.

Post keeper of the sun and moon: I would’ve said Hunter, no contest; post keeper of Day and night: Kitsune takes the cake, especially the subplot you get from it, for those who know what I’m talking about The whole thing with illusions is also kind of cool, that, and the clause; The fox form is also not that bad, although it’s not exactly the most exciting thing

I like human magicians and hunters best I think. I generally prefer playing more intelligence or willpower based characters and those races compliment that build pretty well. Also I like the idea of a naturally weaker character (cause let’s face it humans are fragile) overcoming that and becoming powerful through hard work and human ingenuity. I also really like playing nephilim, but mostly for the aesthetic.

I prefer kitsune. I’m a sucker for anything related to East Asian mythologies, and sprouting claws for combat and just shapeshifting in general are both big pluses for me. I’ve always imagined that, once they’ve started to get the hang of it, MC gets into the habit of just idly shifting their hands back and forth, to the general annoyance of everyone around them. Also amuses me that despite my main MC being super high Acceptance and in love with the idea of doing magic, in practice he just favors a bit of minor shapeshifting to melee problems away. It sort of mirrors how I’ve played him, loving the idea of living the fantasy and being the hero, but, especially post-Sun and Moon, never actually seeking out adventure and trying to avoid getting wrapped up in things.

I have to say, with less stats to distribute points around, it sometimes feels like humans are actually the superior species with their amazing fighting skills, intelligence and powerful compulsion.

I always find myself playing the kitsune or the Dracaena, cause who doesn’t love being a shape-shifter right? besides it’s either that or being the hunter, I never liked the whole cambion / Nephilim politics

Me too I prefer shape-shifter. But in the end, it’s the illusions that draw me to the kitsune. I love trick people and I imagine my mc trick her own friends with playful and harmless ilusions.

Is there a chance in hell we would get the option to have Davina as a RO? and maybe we could have new characters in the next book? I mean the current characters are nice but maybe new characters to fresh up the plot a bit? This second book feels a bit inconsequential relatively to the first one. If you use a saved game from the first book you are pretty much OP and you are already set on some path. Plus it doesn’t feel like anything new happened in this book same formula as the first one. An attack occurs at the mc home, he is brought to the academy by one of the roommates, attacked by Reyna, discovers about a magical society(frostbite), romance, discovers a traitor, fight the main bad guy and done. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I didn’t find this one too samey at all and feel like quite a lot happened to differentiate it. MC was introduced to the world as a Keeper and had to deal with all that it entailed. We more or less learned the fully story behind MC’s various family backgrounds. ROs were expanded on with their own subplots, which really did wonders with making some of them more complex, and it introduced Frostbite as, barring some big twist, our main antagonists going forward. Plus, there was a lot less focus on school life and more on politics and the like. On that note, the lack of actually playing through exams and things like that was one of my only negatives, though I get why the focus was taken off of school to an extent.

I have to agree with this; the second game really started to walk away from the whole school thing and dump you into the political crap, terrorist attacks by Frostbite, new subplots, and a bunch of other crazy shit. As for if we’re getting new characters and new RO‘s in the next game, maybe to the first one and probably not for the second

But the RO didn’t really got more complex, we just got more information about them. There were no character breaking moments, or something that gave light to another aspect to their personality. I mean I played about 200 hours of the game, So let’s say when you make a new season for a television show you bring in new characters to shift the dynamic of the established group. In the first book you get more of a together feeling from the interaction with the roommates but in this one it feels like everyone went more on their separate way. And you have to say that any skill check that happened when you loaded the first game save was a joke.

P.S
Based on my hours played I obviously like the game but if the first game felt like a 8/10, this one feels more like a 6/10

I have to disagree on the ROs and say we definitely saw new sides of them. I’ll cite Thalia and Cressy as characters who weren’t too deep in Sun and Moon, and I say that as someone who loved Thalia’s character after just a few scenes, that this game really did favors for.

I don’t disagree that skill checks were overall more forgiving this time around, but I also can’t say that really bothers me. If I select options that MC is built to be good at, I generally expect them to work out. Did struggle with one in this because I didn’t realize going full fox form was governed by Elemental Manipulation. My MC was moderately good at it but not enough in this case.

I think part of what made the first game so good were all the nooks and crannies in which the story could evolve only if you made a specific set of choice, so if you make the skill check more forgiving you miss the punishment of making a wrong decision earlier in the game. You get what I am saying?
And the trophies were too on the nose this time. I sound like I am bitching a lot don’t I?

I get where you’re coming from. I might just be misremembering how much you could get from missing checks early on. Never really cared for trophies beyond idle curiosity as to what they were and occasionally checking what routes they suggest are most popular. And hey, we all have opinions.

Actually it might go well when you gather all your friends for the decision of giving the antidote to her is Seraphina who decided on not doing it so maybe there is something there that we might see in book 3 to explain this

Wait, how did you get Altair to be in that scene? I always get Seraphina, unless I’m confusing the scenes
