I wouldn’t call Lysander a “victim” he co-financed it after all and probably somehow made money out of whatever tech and rituals they developed for that project.
Afraid of how Leon would react?

At the very least, I don’t think they’d blame the MC (I mean, some of their parents/families are sketchy too, and Magi in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks). There was an ask where the MC apologizes for getting the suitemates caught up in their keeper business and everyone responded kindly (or as kindly as some of them get).
Unrelated, I’m curious about one of the mechanics—the breakups. All of the ROs have the option of breaking up during the timeskip. How is that going to work for the final product, since Seraphina/Yakov can break up with you in the first game? Is the code going to reflect that when you upload a save file or is that going to be a spot where the player can inadvertently “retcon” their game?
It’d also like to see Alty’s reaction as can briefly get him caught up in it too, what with the whole frost bear attack during the break and of course putting his sister in constant, mortal peril.
Same goes for Cy and Cressida once we actually start to get them entangled with the whole, nasty keeper stuff.
Uhg! In general too many asks include just the suitemates, when my fave boys aren’t suitemates.
Nor did I call him that. Although I should’ve been more specific. Parental options were: I had my mom, I had my dad , I had my parents.
Leon’s response made my heart melt, although I did not expect that from him. And I was pretty surprised when I read the ask for the first time.
Yeah, but the thing is they were killed in the second attack, not the initial attack directed at the Delacroix family.
@No_This_Is_Patrick I was mostly referring to Roxana Castella, a nymph under Anetha (The Katia Gisela Sera trio were just sweet children at the time), who we know for sure was experimented on with the Constellation Project. We know that Celosia (current nymph secretary) is aware of the project but whether that’s because of her position or firsthand experience I’m not sure. Either way, if Anetha was willing to use a Castella for the project, what was stopping her from using Melanthe Sinclair, essentially making Marcela another “manufactured” keeper like the MC.
It actually makes me wonder how many “failures” there were during the constellation project, and if this lead to any casualties or deaths. But also if MC and Marcela(?) are the only man-made keepers. And if this has been attempted in the past. After all, human experimentation was still a thing back in NMC.
All of the man-made Keepers during book three:
But yeah, there’s probably a lot more about human experimentation and the Delacroix massacre for the MC to uncover.
MC decides to pull a power move and starts a club dedicated to man-made keepers.
Natural-born keeper: “Cool, can I join?”
Update 4/22: The first third of Chapter 3 is now up; the game is currently at around 80,000 words. As always, thanks for playing!

(Note for code readers: there are vague outlines for the rest of Chapter 3 in the code. It’s totally fine to discuss any of what those outlines may reveal on this thread, but please do so in spoiler tags.)
Also, I’ve been away for a bit and haven’t been able to catch up on this thread, so I’ll be responding to previous posts momentarily!
Generally speaking, yes
Will add for next update!

Re: Astrid aftermath: She likes keeping up appearances. Altair’s compulsion didn’t exactly work out the way either of them hoped. Astrid still had intense negative emotions about what happened last year—she just didn’t have a reason for those emotions existing. She had no way to process what happened, because she didn’t know what happened. Altair had no idea about this, because Astrid likes keeping up appearances, but he still felt incredibly guilty over the compulsion.
I went back and forth with what I wanted to do with some of the characters. That variable has since been deleted.
90% of the time, I pick names I think sound nice and they accidentally end up meaningful (Niobe was the worst for this)
@Marvey
Thanks for the catch!
Lysander was magic tech engineering; Roxana was mind arts; Julian was biology (non healing)
Please read the code for Chapter 3 re: Isabella
Nobody knows aside from Isabella, Lysander, and MC.
Human parents (Isabella, Lucas, Michael, and Ariana) canonically all know each other, but not through the Constellation Project. It’ll probably be brought up at some point
Yep
Yes
Welcome back! I’m so excited to play this new chapter!
Edit:
Right away I found something:
There’s supposed to be space between “Director” and “Chang”
Did you mean “snaps”?
I’m pretty confused (or maybe just sleep deprived, it’s 00:39 for me) but Yakov first said he’d look for Kol’s family. I picked the potion option and he changed his mind and picked ingredients instead?
Unless he’ll always change his mind if MC doesn’t go for the family option?
Too*
Still I think it was a rather impressive bit of compulsion, particularly since Alty is still a student. As per our teacher’s it seems you can also leave someone a drooling vegetable if you botch complex memory alterations like that.
But Alty is bound to find out sooner or later (probably sooner) isn’t he?
That totally won’t be awkward as hell for my mc who pretty unambiguously told his boyfriend his father was dead.
About the Kol issue, why is it a suitemate only project? My mc is very close with Alty and Cy, so why can’t we ask them for help. While Alty isn’t good for potions work it seems he’d sure know how to upgrade Kol’s security and Cyrus could probably be very useful in helping Yakov track down Kol’s family. Aside from that Alty is my mc’s super-cute magical boyfriend so he probably knows as unlike the Lysander situation my mc is not keeping this to himself.
Also a suggestion when going to see Cyrus volunteer at the shelter can my mc at least take his super cute boyfriend with him? Theoretically seeing how any of the potential pets react to Alty is almost as important as how they respond to him, as he wouldn’t want to get one that might make Alty miserable.
As an aside, interesting stuff concerning my mc’s ordinary human mother that she didn’t deign to tell him, but then between my mc himself, his mom, Altair, his father and Altair’s father it is a big circle of secrets and daddy (in-law) issues, particularly for my mc.
Just one little typo(though I haven’t tried all path yet), questions, and comments:
…decided on for your major,"
Huh, who other the keepers? And when MC will meet them?
When one of your MC with “Kol” because she thought he’ll be the most drama free…
Seriously though, Nicholas“Kol” got even more shadier as we discover more about him…
Yes! choosing the pet will be really difficult though… I most leaning for the frost bear, but I want Briseis have dragon friend too (though they probably end up fighting or ignoring each other)
After reading that Roxanna part, I’ve noticed how similar she is with Cressida (even the relationship with their brothers similar too). I can’t help but be more wary about Cressy because of this…
Gotta love the suitemates determination to found potion to heal Kol. A little surprised with how determined Sera and Leon, but it certainly a welcome surprise.
Also, I appreciate that you adds choices for hairstyles, it help me imagining my MC will look forward for the next update!
What with being as worthless as he is with cooking in the first game I’m rather surprised Leon is actually competent when brewing potions when many of the skills involved in either should be able to be applied to the other as well.
But maybe him being a lousy cook is due to growing up in a household with actual servants and him not knowing the culinary terminology and thus being unable to read and follow a normal cooking/baking recipe adequately.
I think potions and cooking are completely different things, though. Or maybe it’s just me? If anything I’d compare potion brewing to chemistry. Also, it is impressive that Leon and Sera are so passionate about saving Kol. It’s almost heartbreaking. Sera’s and Leon’s efforts aren’t useless or worthless at all, as it was stated in the text that they contributed the most when MC and the squad tried to come up with a potion.
I still don’t understand how his culinary skills do anything good when it comes to potions. Except for the stirring part, maybe?
Funnily enough, Sera and him contributed the most when it came to the potion’s recipe-making
I think there is a lot of potential crossover between the skills.
Where did I imply they were, all I was saying is that my mc is impressed with Leon’s apparent skill and dedication, because in the first game he seemed more like a fun-loving rich-kid frat-boy to be honest.
As for the cooking in game 1 Leon even manages to screw up double boiling, which is odd considering his apparent potions skill. Now makes me think he was deliberately performing worse to sass Astrid.
I know. My mc even joined them as potions are one of the very few magical things he seems to have any sort of aptitude for.
Like I said above just wish we could ask for help from our non-suitemate friends as well. Like tapping Alty to get the hospital to upgrade Kol’s security measures and get Cy to help Yakov track down Kol’s family. In part because my mc doesn’t quite trust Yakov and in part because my mc thinks tracking a magical family that doesn’t want to be found might be dangerous.
This is golden! My mc is going to have that engraved on plaque for Leon.
And we know Kol and Leon didn’t get along all that well either.
Yeah, we really need Alty to pull a combination of puppy-eyed guilt trip and veiled threat all in one to get the hospital to close their security loopholes and upgrade the security of Kol’s room. My mc thinks Alty would be perfect for that job, so long as he stays well away from the actual potion brewing.
Absolutely not! You know I always like it if my boys, Alty and Cy are included on the asks as well and far too many of those are currently limited to just the suitemates.
@Fay about finding Kol’s family, I know it’s only a phonecall, my mc very much doesn’t. He thinks some actual sleuthing that’s possibly dangerous might be involved to find a magical family that doesn’t want to be found.
Alternatively place Cy and Cressy on the ingredient gathering team. The Monroe name ought to open up a lot of doors, or in this case private supplies of very rare and possibly expensive ingredients.
When you can’t bake a cake to save your life but you can brew a magic potion that could save your friend’s life lol
Yeah, back when Kol wasn’t hospitalized. But we all know it’s going to get worse from there Imagine the angst in book three… When all of the plot armor is completely gone… Or how much the characters will change after everything we will go through.
When you’re so petty that you purposely mess up purely out of spite
Strong-willed is one of his main traits!
I wish that as well. Also kind of related, when someone asked how the ROs would take it if MC apologized for dragging them in their keeper shenanigans, was I the only one who wished that our non-suitmates would be included? Maybe I’ll send in an ask about it later
All they did was call a phone call to Kol’s younger sister. Or at least I think it was his sister
Okay, I got to the demo a while ago but jeez Kol’s family need to learn to stay on the line Is it just me or is it terrible to ask if there’s an adult you can speak to (because well, his parents are dead) ?
Also, in lieu of all the Game of Thrones hype, I saw this and thought one thing:
And this is why Poli Sci is best major because we get to talk about everything from Asteria 'I'm going to confer incredible power upon twelve women then leave you all to figure it out' to Prime Minister 'let's negotiate with Frostbite, they seem like nice guys' Tabot."
I didn’t think of that. Oh wow, now I’m kinda relieved that I didn’t pick that option
This weirdly describes how group projects work tbh
