I think Inspector Ambrose’s heart belongs squarely to Lady Justice, unfortunately.
Ah yes, but what if your MC is named Justice, hm? ![]()
The more obvious you are with your flirting the less he catches on. I think we could confess our love and ask his hand in marriage and he’d be like “Ah! So this is how you think you can trick me! Well, think again! I won’t fall for such an obvious scheme!”
It’d be hilarious but I don’t think I wanna torture MC that much
(She said, knowing Starling will be a different kind of torture most likely
)
I had actually completely forgotten about the poly paths. I wonder who it’ll be. Maybe Starling // Fitzie // MC? Like they both have a bit of competition between them and I could see Starling and Fitzie doing a rivals-to-lovers route.
And then maybe Gilberto // Tabby // MC? Like Tabby clearly has a taste for adventure and mysteries and Gilberto is awfully exciting and the potential for shenanigans in his backstory makes stuff interesting.
This is all just speculation of course. I’m sure whatever you come up with will be great. I think I’m more interested to see how Starling would work as an RO and how they handle the employer-employee aspect of the relationship, especially since they are more “proper” than Fitzie. Ooh and navigating the delicious awkwardness and angst of leaving the MC >:)
Do you mean I can’t create a high skullduggery MC just to romance him? I’m shocked.
Au contraire. A high skullduggery MC would attract Ambrose because he’s suspicious of you and then he’d be so obsessed with catching you and you can take it upon yourself to have some flirty banter.
You know…. I think people would be pleasantly surprised if Ambrose would become romance able if we judge from the comments here ![]()
I think that’s the main appeal of their romance. Some of us just loves angst ![]()
Monthly update!
I think that November ranks as the low ebb in the writing of this game so far; work has been particularly busy as the semester winds down, and I am still working my way through the Chapter Three edits.
Happily, however, it appears that my spring teaching schedule will be much, much easier for me, with a lot more time for writing. That, plus the likelihood of having a full semester’s sabbatical the following spring, tells me that there’s smooth sailing ahead if I can just get there! This is my last week of classes; following that, I am off for Winter Break, during which I hope to get some writing in as best I can (my kids will be home, of course, all day, so less than when I can spend a full 8 hours writing–but I’ll get some time in)!
In my fantasy, I finish chapter four some time during spring semester, and when the summer dawns, I’ll be already significantly into chapter five.
(Unusually, I find myself with two solid hours right now in my office during which I will tackle edits. Here I go!) (Edit: not bad–I have about three pages of edits left–but I’m saving all the hard ones for last!)
So a very light update this month; I hope I’ll have more to report at the end of December. Cheers!
Hurray !!! I know this might seem like an odd question but can the Fitzie crush be activated here if it’s not activated in book 1 and does or will starling have a Starling crush like Fitzie would? and can we name and keep the random bat?
What bat?
Yes, in the first half or so of Tea and Scones.
I think I’ll wait just a bit longer to confirm or deny any specifics about Starling or their role in the next game.
I think I’ll also wait a bit to reveal any further details about Juniper’s role in the next game as well. That’s a joke.
In the first snippet Gower gave he said that we can befriend a bat
And juniper is a vampire confirmed ??? ![]()
I’m so excited for this game omg
And I have a quick question! Are Puddles and Loony going to make any appearances in the game? I love their energy and I can’t wait to see them interact with my MC again! The drinking game & dance craze scenes in Chapter Five were so much fun.
And I hope we’ll get to see Arabella and/or Polly again (especially after the ~scandalous~ letter Polly wrote to my MC)!
I’m excited for it too! I can’t wait for you to see all this stuff I have going on in my head. It’s hard keeping it in for so long.
I think so, but I’m not 100% sure. I have an idea for them to make an appearance in either chapter seven or chapter eight. However, if they don’t end up in this game, they will definitely show up in the third game in the series–I have a definite spot for them there.
Arabella you will see in Chapter Seven of Tea and Scones. Polly–maybe but probably not. I like her too. Maybe I’ll squeeze her in somewhere just to say hi…
Weird question but for Starling’s code (if you’re planning on making them the new RO) would it be similar to Rory’s where if your relationship stays above a certain threshold they would be more open in dropping hints about their feelings/ have a crush on the MC? or would they have the same role with Rory in term of romance where they love the MC no matter how high or low the stat is.
Theory time : What if Starling quit the MC’s employment because the feelings they have for MC had become too much for them to stay rational/professional around them and just used the scandal as an acceptable way to leave their employment? Cause, quitting your job because you developed feelings for someone would absolutely tarnish Starling’s sterling reputation.
I love Starling but I think they’re just kind of an ass and left us because of the scandal. Remember that, at least until now, not a single RO has been romantically interested in MC without the player giving any input they wanted them to be. So, most likely, Starling needs a reason to leave MC that’s good enough by itself without involving romance. Of course, their feelings could be an additional reason in case we are actually pursuing that romance.
Besides, if I remember correctly, Starling said in the interview that they would be willing to go back to their old job if MC mends their ways and gets back their good reputation. So if they left because of their feelings for MC, why would they want to come back (and announce it publicly)?
HOWEVER, I’d love it if Starling actually had a selfless reason to leave MC: if they left, but are helping in the shadows or something. That would be so sweet. I wouldn’t get my hopes up, though. I might adore the character and the possibility of a romance with them is chef’s kiss, but in Fitzie’s words: “Starling is an idiot, and you can quote me!”.
EDIT: Tabby being the exception? Uh-oh.
Also Rory in the first game, I think. Haze tells MC during the hunt that Rory loves them, regardless of whether we pursue the romance or not. At least I don’t remember a single playthrough where this didn’t happen. And Haze tends to know things so I trust their assessment implicitly lol.
Oh and then there’s also Fitzie!crush variable
Rory, Fitzie and Tabby would LOVE to have a word with you XD
But yeah @Kirlett i TOTALLY understand what you mean.
But why would Starling want to come back to MC’s employment? And why did they leave in the first place? Wouldn’t a perfect servant would actively try to prevent the scandals from even happening in the first place ? Why did they let it happen? Why weren’t they proactive in solving the issue? Was there something sinister in this? Was starling being blackmailed? Was it a lapse of judgement? Was the super secret club we totally don’t know want to recruit them and they got so distracted that they let the scandal to happen? Were they about to be recruited in another super secret club with a test to matchmaker MC with some other posh character and couldn’t do it for reasons and decide to leave or finish their other tasks first? (Also, I kinda find it interesting that in Tally Ho if you choose that Rory and Frankincense are a bad match and tried to break up the engagement it increases the MC’s culture. Which kinda raises the question if the Cadbury club is as competent as they present themselves…… I’m looking at you Gower
)
Also, this is just wish fulfillment but I really want something akin to Rory’s confession in Tally Ho where they say how stupid they are…… I want that to happen except Starling says that they’re the stupid one circling back to what Fitzie had said.
(“Starling’s an idiot. And you can quote me”.)
Maybe with a gun pointed at their head. I get the feeling hell will freeze over before ![]()

![]()
Well I guess it will freeze soon if we’re looking at these past few years so why not make it all official with Starling’s declaration ![]()
It’s been amazing to have a bit of writing time these past few days as my semester winds down! I have just a few more final essays to grade before I am completely done with the semester.
I’ve been spending my writing time tackling major edits to ch.3. Today I wrote a new pair of choices to extend a scene with Tabby, to address a pacing issue, and I’m happy with how they came out.
Early next week I expect to finish the last of these edits–the most major of which is addressing the need for another option/path in a scene with Chervil. If I am lucky, I will finish all this stuff on Monday, and then have T, W, Th for zooming ahead in Chapter Four, starting with the Interlude (the little inter-chapter scenes that bookend the chapters.)
