It has to happen before chapter 6. A Fitzie crushing on MC will behave differently throughout the game, starting from the point it ‘activated’. They’ll be more daring to tiptoe the line between servant and employer, for example, or point out that MC looks stunning and be more touchy-feely.
Kind of? The game takes into account if you had expressed interest in any ROs, and gives them a bonus value if you had kissed them in previous chapters (known as highcrushvalue). If you haven’t shown any romantic inclinations it’ll go by the character with the highest relationship with you instead (aka highrepvalue). Having either of those below a certain point means you’ll walk to the club with Rory.
When I was testing to see if I can get the aforementioned “Fitzie telling off mysterious benefactor” scene in-game though, I had the walk suddenly turn romantic with Vyv even after I said I wanted our relationship to stay platonic in the arena. I’m still confused about how that happened.
Their responses on the walk will be different, most notably when you pick “Fitzie, you’re in love with me, aren’t you?”
Fitzie without the crush will make a comment wondering if they would earn an “outstanding” evaluation if they said yes. Fitzie with a crush on MC will (grudgingly) admit that they do and then take MC’s hand for just a moment.
That’s weird. If you ever see something like that again, let me know exactly where in the walk that happens. I’ll add it to my list of things to look out for and bug-fix.
Worried about Sir Pellinore Wigglesworth? I suppose that depends on whether you care what good society thinks of you, how scandalous your reputation is, and to what extent you wish your family’s fortune and good name to rise in the eyes of the world at large.
Her uncle, in fact. Though naturally, that’s only a bit of side context: if you did not take the “money” scandal, you won’t know Peri. But if you did, you’ll be able to have a touch more history with him.
That playthrough is like this (just sped through another run of it to make sure it still happens the same way as it did at that time):
Fitzie gets a crush on MC → MC shows interest only in Vyv → cab ride talk in chapter 5 is about Vyv’s manuscript → “Hey Vyv, sorry but let’s just be friends?” → MC woke up in the middle of Duddles and Toppers in chapter 7 → Vyv talks about MC having a lovely voice and face in chapter 8
I think I pinpointed it? My relationship with Vyv is at 67 by chapter 8, and, according to the variables in the beginning of that chapter:
*if highcrushvalue >= 65
*set romance true
And then the walk with Vyv (with all ROs, too) only checks for romance and not, say, both that and int_vyv. What I don’t get is that why they are still considered my highcrush though. I know that int_vyv is set to false because of where MC woke up too, so I wonder if the fault lies in the first highcrush check in chapter 5.
“You’re in love with me”
“No, YOU are in love with ME”
Fitzie is so stubborn, I laugh every time they go all grumpy on their feelings for MC. When they get mad at MC in the car because of the kiss. It’s… adorable.
Thanks for calling my attention to this–I think there was a bug in the code in ch.8 that was assigning highcrush to people with no declared love interests.
If you are interested in the picky coding details, I’ve just done a workaround like this:
I think that should work to assign “none” if there are no declared love interests. And a good thing, too, since I’ve been basing some of the responses in Tea and Scones off of the highcrush variable.
I’ll send this in with the next update (probably later this week or weekend).
Ah, Yes I SHOULD BE WORRIED! Thank you for the heads up in the next game
Also, I know this is nearly impossible but can Fitzie develop a crush or becomes anti-cupid with a soothing MC, or is it near impossible which would take a bloody miracle to happen or its a tell-tale sign that the world’s ending?
You can romance everyone no matter your personal stats! My MC for Fitzie is soothing and Fitzie gave me the anticupid warnings about other ROs and I got the romantic ending. As long as you choose the romance options, that’s all it takes. I mean, if you’re mean to Fitzie or something like that, maybe you get slowly kicked out of the romance, but I doubt that’s your style
EDIT: My MC is soothing in the sense of helping EVERYONE no matter what, so take into account that the moment Fitzie asks for help with some scandalous adventure that risks tanking my reputation… I accepted. Every. Single. Time. My MC wants to recover her good standing in society, but friends and handsome valets are far more important! (You can try to ask Fitzie to behave, kindly, and those options never lower your relationship with them, as long as you’re asking and not barking orders)
Your MC and my MC seemed to be very similar then !
She cares about her loved once but I think what diverged between yours and mine is that my MC is a bit dense. She doesn’t exactly realize it when people have a crush on her or when she has a crush on someone and she’s quite meek and ditzy so yeah … outward romantic options doesn’t seem to suit her at all
And thanks for the vote of confidence, I was wondering where I was doing wrong but seeing this did soothe my heart! I’ll try it later after I’m finished with my other two MCs run
But now I wonder… any one of the ROs can have a crush on the MC? Cause from the comments Gower gave above it seems so!
Vyv and Tabby for sure, and they’re super easy. Just choose for Tabby to have had a crush on you in the past, and have something with Vyv at uni. I think as long as you flirt with them, they return your feelings. Gil too, just choose the clearly romantic options and all should be fine!
Oh! I actually had the ‘romantic walk even if you turned an RO down’ thing occur for me too, and I think part of the issue is that the highcrushvalue variable that was set during the cab ride carries over to the end? So, if you were assigned a highcrush during Chapter 5 but drop your int_ro variable in Chapter 6, Chapter 8 still keeps the number as what it was before. Maybe an additional *set highcrush "none" before the return command under *if not (haveanint) could help with that particular bit?
Also, @Greyscales, thank you for the kissing-with-a-cold guide you posted some time ago! I followed it (with the only difference being that I placed Fitzie at the arena rather than at the press) and managed to, indeed, infect everyone in one playthrough. I’m not sure if I’m proud or horrified.
So Fitzie will bad mouth anyone who MC has the highest relationship it seems , funny part is i report Fitzie’s thieving behaviour instead as a source of leaking information… well , i am still not sure how i feel about Fitzie, Fitzie brought me to Noble gas, i am grateful but at the same time i don’t entirely trust her , if i am not romamcing her, Fitzie might be an interesting rival in future…
Overall, Fitzie has been fired for their behavior so THAT’s expected and they can be a rival for every RO as long as they have a crush on the MC…
Is this with the spy subplot ? And if that so Fitzie wasn’t the mole. Fitzie is suspicious because of their methods but they’re a relatively good person (I think).
