Interest Check Thread

I think this question doesn’t need the context of the game I’m making. I plan on labelling almost every choice with the stat its affecting, cause I know the feeling of having to check the stats screen over and over again just to see what changed after I make each choice.

Example: You punched him in the face [Mean]. Would that be preferrable? Or would it take the immersion out of the story?

Which do you personally like best:

  • Normal choices, as in no labeling.
  • Labeled choices.

No offense, but

sounds absolutely hilarious and would prevent me from taking any of the choices seriously.

LMFAO yeah true

Maybe you can have a switch like some games. Doesn’t necessarily have to be one or the other.

That’s true, it’s just that there’s one I gotta prioritize in the early stages of the game. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hello, here’s the project I’m working on. Any feedback is welcome.

Year 2194, more than a century after the discovery of the Stellarium, (a mineral which, when refined, can generate a wormhole) humanity colonize about thirty planets around the galaxy. This expansion has enabled humanity to respond to its limited resources and enter a new era. But during this expansion, humans discovered that they were not alone in the universe.

First, the explorers discovered the planet Lysaria populated by the Lysarians, an alien race that prefers to solve problems diplomatically, places great importance on arts and has developed more around biotechnology than humanity.

Against all expectations, the first alien contact went well, but the first contact with a second alien race was less so.

Coming from a destroyed world, the mother ship of the Razeckians, a reptile-like race with the innate ability to mutate their bodies to suit their needs, crashed into a human colony.

Conflict broke out between humans and Razeckians. However, the human galactic army, the Terra Union, found it difficult to fight against the Razeckian army and their ability to transform. It was against this backdrop that the humans created the “Armored Justiciar”, giant mecha that changed the course of the war in humanity’s favor.

A peace treaty was signed between the 3 races and galactic peace, on the surface, settled in during the century.

You’ll play as a teenager (in the begining) on the planet Zenithia, who’ll join the Terra Union after the destruction of their city by a rebellion movement called “The Red Wings”.

You’ll be piloting one of 4 “Armored Justiciar” prototypes, each with a different fighting style, and with the help of your companions: an inquisitive Lysarian, a Razckian fighting against their own destiny, and your all-too heroic childhood friend, you’ll discover the dark secrets behind the conflict and put an end to it.

This seems interesting

You’d think so, but if you look around apps like Tales for instance, you’ll find male authors who write female genderlocked IFs. Which is weird, but then I also found women writing male genderlocked stories.

You’d have to sell a ton of copies to actually make a living as a writer.

I meant the original Regency romance writers.

questions as usual, to start off

How much freedom will we have to explore Zenithia and other planets?

But what exactly is it and how does it work? Are there other minerals with unique properties? How does Stellarium technology affect society?

How they mutate their bodies? What are the advantages and disadvantages of their ability? How do they view themselves and others?

  • Will there be multiple endings or is there a main goal with different paths to reach it?

  • Can we customize the Armored Justiciar prototypes? If so, will it be cosmetic or affect gameplay?

  • Will there side quests or optional missions that we can do?

  • (personal weird question) Will the game feature any dynamic events or changes based on our choices for unpredictability and replayability?

Well, that’s a lot of questions, and I hope to answer them as clearly and concisely as possible.^^

Players will set foot on at least 2 on 5 planets (2 are unavoidable and the other 3 are in the side quests, difficult to miss). The planets explorations will be done alongside the story and are not decide by the player (but I plan to create some scene where the player will still see what life looks like on these planets). Also, a lot of fights will be in space, and the protagonist’s ship will be the main place for social interactions.

The Stellarium : It was first found very deeply inside Terra (formerly know as Earth) In its natural state, Stellarium appears green. When refined correctly, it turns blue, and it becomes red when unstable.

How does it work? It’s a mineral who absorbs and stock the energy created by a planet for millennia (heat, movement, and natural electric current on earth.) In this form, it’s just a very powerful form of energy.

It has been studied by scientists to extract as much energy as possible. But during an experiment in which scientists used the fission process on the Stellarium, a distortion was created and an object was propelled at faster-than-light speed.

From this point on, the material was worked on, refined and a first test for Mars was carried out. The test ship reached its target almost instantaneously (but crash on it). New device was made, and the first spaceship was created a couple of years later.

Later, it will be discovered with the help of the Lysarian that the Stellarium can develop or enhanced some psychic power when touched for a long time, However, like a muscle, these psychic abilities need to be trained. Untrained or overexerted use can lead to adverse consequences, ranging from headaches to severe physical or mental harm, even death.

Of course, a century later, the Stellarium is now the most precious resource on the galaxy.

How the Razeckian mutation works?

No Razeckians looks like another. Some can be agile beings of about a meter tall to an imposing figure up to 2.5 meters. To mutated, they absorb the natural or vital energy at disposition and use it to create new cells who can grow a new body part, claws or shape of the Razeckian (and alot of others things). The main objective is to adapt to all situations, they can even survive in space.

But it’s not without cost. Just as humans have sun capital, Razeckians have mutation capital. If a Razeckian never mutates in his life, he could easily live 1,000 years, but each mutation reduces his life expectancy. The bigger the change, the heavier the consequences for his body.

They can undergo an ultimate mutation, where they become as big as a house. However, their intelligence drastically decreases, and they can only fight or respond to simple orders. It’s a significant sacrifice, as they cannot revert to their previous form.

Rumor said that they can be bigger than that, but for that, a lot of lives must be sacrificed.

There will be 3 different endings but a single path until the final confrontation. For now, one of the endings will need some condition to be unlocked. Some choices made along the story mays change some details in the end.

There 4 prototypes that the player may choose, each one of them will have unique capacity that can affect the gameplay. For the customization I plan to let the player decided for each part of the Armored Justiciar (Shape, head, color, animal representation, etc.…). If the player wants something like a Gundam, or a Knightmare from Code Geass, or GaoGaigar, he can. The only limitation is the height.

Yes There will be side quests

I plan to change some of the dialogue to suit the character’s personality.
For example: if the character is 75% honest, the answer he’ll give will be version A; if he’s cunning, it’ll be version B. And if he’s 55% honest, it’ll be C and 55% cunning, it’ll be D.
Also, I hope that I can make the 4 prototypes enough different from each other’s to be enjoyed by the player’s each new game.

I hope I’ve managed to answer all your questions… ^^

Hi , new here, I am a coder/techie recently discovered these games and it’s scripting

I wanted a game (trying to make)with almost simulation of life:

  1. freedom of diverse choices (both good and bad)

  2. mangement of money , with diverse ways to earn, invest , deposit in bank and take loans

  3. time management , different activities both good / bad , fun / tiring (but necessary such as cleaning, excercise) . Options to save time also like owning a transport, hiring maids/workers etc. so time can be spent on other activities

  4. choice of working a 9-5 or be a entrepreneur or start a business or a company, be social influencer, celebrity

  5. choice for crime , but if caught will destroy reputation and face jail time and fines

  6. choice for dating (both good and bad partners and neutral ) , maybe add MBTI personality and OCEAN (auto generated dating is slightly new and difficult to achieve in cog)

  7. choice of food/ lifestyle - healthy/expensive even vanity (greed and pride) as option

  8. start the game at fixed time (start at year 2023?) As a 20 -25 year old? with one vice in the story of mc (default: failed suicide attempt , can also pick juvenile and other options) trying to turn around life
See how the choices affect our character, and also option to skip time (while sticking to our choices /lifestyle/expenses - earning)

9 ) a lot of variables and a lot of goto labels to accomplish:
Multiple and diverse skill check (planning to hide in real game as it will overwhelming)
Goto labels needed to create interactive scenarios where you interact at hotels / bars / clubs / shopping malls

  1. inventory or pocket management(still configuring) , owning weapon will improve robbery encounters , owning tools will improve survival (flash light, mask, screw driver), owning camera can facilitate photos and maybe videos which can be posted in social media. Also wear personal jewelry, smart watches etc.

Initial draft
Story/ quest: you are a man/woman/other moved to a new town by the name Creek valley after the hills and rivers of the lovely locality
You are trying to turn your life after a failed suicide attempt (default)
You also have side quest where your investigate a murder, save a child from death, explore myths etc

Your username says “bot”, so I may be speaking into a void but in case you are an actual person making real posts, I’ve moved this post to the interest check thread; separate threads are for when you have a demo link ready.

Hi

I am a real person, i always prefer keeping my online accounts and IDs seperate from my real life name accounts (messages are more priority there) so whatever i have created to enter a forum i usually add the word ‘bot’ eg. RedditBot …

I am sorry to confuse you as it would have wasted your time being a moderator

My goal to join and create an account was to post about a life sim sort of choice script game i have a vision of creating. ( I am focusing more on multiple paths and interactive areas and randomly generated things as a programming challenge)
(Story is of A person who had a failed suicide attempt and trying to build life back from 0 )

I already posted it here on the forum about its details.

In which case, welcome to the forum

I think it sounded interesting, and I admire your courage in taking on that much coding!

As for your post, I would caution against calling anything the default. Some people may feel pressured to conform with that kind of language.

And as for the story itself, if you are really wanting to tell a story about rebuilding your life and getting better after a suicide attempt, don’t feel pressured to add different backstories. While I like having multiple options, and I don’t want to discourage you from adding more variety, I also don’t want you to add something that will make your work too hard or take away from any themes you might be working with, just for the sake of it. So my advice is do what you want, not what you think you should do. If that’s multiple backstories, great. If it’s just the suicide backstory, that’s good too

hiii:3 I’ve had a game idea in my mind for some time, i usually write in my native language so it’s kinda new to me to make something solely in english…
i love college based games, and I’ve had this in my mind for a long time, and i finally decided to do it.
I’m not a programmer so it’s being a little tricky, but I’m trying my best, let me know what you think and give me some ideas! i already have a couple of love interests in mind and i already have a “prologue” but it can definitely improve;")

Hello everyone,

I’m back with more brainstorming for my upcoming WIP, I’m really trying hard to make it happen this year

the initial plan is on the link below:

Interest Check Thread - #6167 by Valda_Reehux

now, for the questions I have in mind:

  1. I’m thinking of having the MC roams around the world map, but how to justify that while you’re tasked with farming as your main activity? I mean the farming itself requires you to be diligent and present around your crops, should I implement hireable workers to work on MC’s behalf? or is there any other options?

  2. I’m thinking of having the MC allowed to farm on various places, but how to justify it? via land purchasing on other settlements? or via investing on other farmers’ business? or claiming lands outside of settlements? I expect managing numerous farmlands at once could be frustrating, but I’m open to any suggestions

these are my main concerns as of now while making the story, any replies are greatly appreciated, thank you

I can’t find anything else about your world, so there’s not much to go on, but in many places around the world there is a “planting season” and a “harvest season”-even in places with crop-friendly weather’s all year round it’s not like Farmville where you can plant the next batch immediately after harvest and then watch an ad or spend gems or fertilizer or whatever the premium currency is to get a perfectly healthy crop in an instance. There’s an optimal date range for plants to grow, and thus an optimal time for plants to be planted

You could justify world travel this way by having the character travel during the time between harvest and planting for many reasons. Finding more work, having fun, self improvement, seeking out friends/business connections even. If it’s a highish fantasy world you can write in an artifact that allows quick(ish) teleportation for a small group to a single point that takes a long time to recharge-perfect for a wanderlusted farmer who doesn’t want to risk missing out on a good harvest. Or you can just leave the risk of missing optimal harvest/planting season up to the player.
