Yeah that seems like it’d be pretty cool! I’d be interested in seeing how that could play out
Thanks, just needed somebody to be interested to get me going
Then get started and let me know when the WIP comes out!
That is happening after I get accurate sources on the period and formulate a plot that is bound to offend a lot of muslims:joy:
Potentially, although I haven’t played any historical fiction-ish COG’s before.
Offending people is pretty much inevitable when writing any type of fiction. As long as you’re not writing with the sole purpose of offending people, and you don’t exaggerate historical deeds to make one or both sides look worse than they were, I don’t think there’s a problem.
You might want to take a look at the recent COG game “Ironheart”, if you haven’t already. That’s set during the Crusades, which is obviously a period of history that could potentially offend a whole host of different groups, but the author does a really good job of taking a “difficult” historical period and writing it non-offensively. It depicts the prejudices of the time without endorsing them. If you’d rather avoid needless offence, that game will show you lots of strategies you can use to help you achieve that.
Can you go full on skynet.
It is my full intention to make this path available, as “the end.” But, you will have to make it out of testing first!
Thanks for showing interest.
I’ve spent a good chunk of time working on Twine game prototypes and am interested in branching out. I’ve got a few simpler ideas I’d like to work into 30-50k+ works, but want some feedback on which would be better to pursue.
The Necklace Parable - Magical Realism, Critique of Religion. An old man gives you a necklace you can’t get rid of. Wearing it changes the way you view the world in pleasant ways, and you notice other folks wearing similar necklaces. When you see someone wearing one get hit by a car and stand back up, things get even weirder.
Scion Family Reunion - Urban Fantasy, Mythological Fun. You’re the child of two gods, though you never knew your real parents since they put you up for adoption at an early age. However, for your sixteenth birthday you get invited to a strange family reunion. Your biological relatives are… eccentric. Can you determine which gods are your parents AND find out why they abandoned you?
Your choices determine which divine ship produced your character… One parent comes from Greek mythos, but the other could come from any other mythos in the world. Regardless of the parents, you’ll eventually need to use your budding god-powers to rescue them.
Dungeon Keeper Diaries - Fantasy, Base Building/Team Management game. The minions need… guidance. As the newly emplaced Dungeon Keeper, it’s up to you whether that “guidance” leaves a mark or brings peace to the underground. Defend your home from roving adventurers. Incorporate new denizens into your Dungeon. Harvest mana until you can perform the ultimate spell of your choice…
House of Sin - Urban fantasy, Comedy. As the newest hire at The House of Sin, Denver’s most popular bar and nightclub, it’s your job to learn the ropes as quickly as possible. However, strange things happen during off hours. You soon discover your managers named the place for good reason. Will you survive their odd jobs long enough to pay off your student loan? What secrets are your coworkers hiding? Most importantly, who keeps moving your stuff in the break room?
Thoughts? Which story idea seems most interesting? Suggestions?
EDIT: Thank you Sam, that’s a great idea.
- Dungeon Keeper Diaries
- The Necklace Parable

Hello there I know there are a lot of Awesome books out there some are dark and deep others are loaded with action and to be honest I’m a miserable author + English is not my mother tounge so Good luck with all the grammar.
To my suggestion I just read ‘’ Gladiator road to the collusseum’’ for the 20th time or so and then I got an idea what if someone Is able to write a Slave story but you are not forced to become a gladiator. For example you could Be forced to fight somehow yes but you could Be a slave Who fight against his slaver /another path in this game Could be An escape /You live as A slave for ever or you are the favorite of your Master.
Sure there should be more than one possible master They could be nice and good if you are loyal or They could be cruel and greedy and They don’t stop to abuse you in every way they could imagine.
Sure the Cruel once get there payback somehow
It’s only A suggestion because I like the Historical books they don’t need to be 100% correct even in a low fantasy univers you could do amazing things
But like I said I’m just a shitty author so I won’t be able to write something like that
It would be intresting to become or Play as a slaver
So, it’s been a while, much longer than I ever wanted to let it go, but life is funny like that, unpredictable. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am getting back into the swing of working on the game. I will have content relating to the poll I posted about a month ago, within the week. Thanks for understanding everybody, and thank you for your patience. -LT
@Formous @blackrising and all interested in sports theme
I thought I could finished the match dynamics till today, well had to deal with some side track (storywise) formulations and training issues.
For team or squad training had to open a gosub - it takes a lot of coding.
After a choice of style training I tried to add bonus to randomly picked recipients besides the stats points gained by the normal training.
Cost me 3 hours to stabilize the code - found out if I do press status and turn back it rerolls the random dice and other random recipients receive random bonus, so to stabilize thought for a while and tried some formulations.
Finally tweaking the code this happens: press stat before pressing next , the randomly selected recipients and bonus changes but the bonus applied only those you last seen on the screen so prevents cheating on game.
I hope to finish the first match this week so got to shortcut a sidestory - they do take a long time with several thousand words and a lot of formulations.
Due to the nature of sports theme - to increase replay value I’m using a lot of variables , temp and regular ones . So even for me playing it I’m receiving different outcomes and it makes it fun.
(I do like my slots machine and getting triple 7’s ^^)
So events are based on outcomes which also based on randoms.
For e.g. lets say I decided 1d8 or 1d12 roll for that event so 1-4 / 5 - 8 / 9 - 12 divided to results, + , neutral and - r outcomes respectively.
The story keeps going on but easter eggs or some side characters/events etc. will be discovered early or discovered later on the game or may be not even discovered yet. It will keep the joy of replaying high I assume, finding new sandbox suprises around.
The game will be long btw. I wrote down 14k words(excl commands) and just warming up the story for readers.
For first design and game it’s massive for 1st, but you should feel satisfied . But I do now understand why there are so few sports titles here, you can not set fixed outcomes for sport competitions it will get boring fast.
Posted this ages ago, I was working on a game.
“Evil Beneath” a survival horror “zombie” game.
Had a huge writer’s block, mental stuff, and a lot of stuff happened. The project just went dark until today, after months of nothing.
I’m thinking of rewriting everything from start, perhaps use some of the ideas i had but that’s it really. I wanna go further from just story telling, i’ll most likely use dice, dice rolling for findings, encounters, vice versa.
OLD Game post
ANY ideas you guys want to give me, tips on writing these sort of things, i’ll listen. I’m going full-time on this again, and quarantine will sure as hell help some with things, haha.
Well, hope to get replies about it. DM me as well if you want I won’t mind.
Emails i’ll also accept, you’ll find it somewhere on my profile.
