Ink and Intrigue [Heart's Choice fantasy romance]

Hyped for this one! A fascinating setting, compelling characters - and, of course, romance! If I may ask, do you have a name for the world in which this and Their Majesties’ Pleasure is set?

Ahh so exiting! Can’t wait to play the full game.

I can’t wait for you to be able to play it! Thank you! :raised_hands:

I’m so glad you’re excited for this! And great question! I honestly don’t have a series name yet. The characters refer to their planet as the realm of the nine seas, but I don’t think that’s what you’re asking. I was playing with the series name “Crowns of Defiance” for the novels I plan to write from these stories, but I don’t know if that works for the games because what if you choose to play them not as a rebel, but loyal to the crown?

Maybe I’ll contemplate a series name as I take these next few days off. Thanks for asking! :revolving_hearts:

Then you may not have twisted it into enough of a pretzel, yet. It could still be considered a “crown of defiance”…defiance against pithy rebels, and their rebellions!

That’s up to you, though. :slightly_smiling_face:

I like “The Nine Seas” as a series name! I like the “crown” part of Crowns of Defiance - and it makes sense as the games have been related to royalty so far - but the sibilance makes it a bit of a mouthful to say.

My problem with Nine Seas is that it feels distinctly nautical, at least to me. I’d expect a Nine Seas series to be about pirates or merchant ships or the navy or something.

Crowns of Intrigue is the working series title I would begin with. The Nine Seas draws Age of Exploration vibes in my mind’s eye, which doesn’t fit for me.

I say it should be something to do with magic and love, given how magical and romantic and sex positive the series is.

I like “Realm of the Nine Seas.”

In any case, you’ve answered another question I was afraid to ask: there is going to be a series in this world! I didn’t want to ask seeing as the second book (game? game-book?) isn’t even out yet, but it’ll be great to explore more places and meet more characters in this setting.

I finally played the 3-chapter demo and the hype is intensifying! Admittedly, my first pass didn’t go great, but that’s a mindset issue. I restarted, and the second pass was great. Tried out sketching tattoos and seduced Kai. Maybe I’ll do a third pass, and romance Rae. Thea is the one character that I don’t feel like I “get”, but that could still change.

I like this take on it!

Agreed. And though that might come up in another story, I agree that The Nine Seas might be misleading as a series title (even though @HarrisPS is right that it flows off the tongue better).

This is an excellent suggestion!

Another excellent suggestion.

That’s the plan! I have several other story ideas set in the same world. However, I expect my next project will take longer to write than this one. I pushed very hard to get Ink and Intrigue written quickly, and found the pace I set for myself forced me to neglect other areas of life. I’m very happy that I was able to get it completed in such good time (it’s over 225,000 words and I started the outline last October). I’m also finding that I need to focus on self-care and family more right now. So. While I have other stories brewing and one fully outlined, I will be setting a much more modest pace whenever I dive into the next project to avoid complete burnout and be sure I’m as present as possible with my family. :revolving_hearts:

Yes. Honestly, all of these work.

I’m so happy you enjoyed the demo! I’m actually going to be taking it down soon, and it isn’t updated with all the changes from beta testing, but it’s a solid demo that gives you a good feel for the game.

Thank you all for your comments and enthusiasm for Ink and Intrigue! And for your patience as my replies are quite delayed. I took a few days off to unplug.

I can’t wait for you to play the final version of the game when it’s ready!

Bit late to this discussion, but how about Intriguing Crowns, rather than Crowns of Intrigue? Both suggest all sorts of fun and games. And I love the demo, don’t care what its called!

I’m so glad you like it! Names are tricky to nail down. I don’t have the bandwidth to even think about it right now. :joy: But I appreciate all the suggestions!
