Isn’t it wonderful? I love the colors! I imagine Kai with longer hair and a thicker beard, but I think the artist did a lovely job of capturing the magic and romance.
I’m proper screaming at that art!! They all look so gooood!! And Rae’s fire sword! Wow!! What a way to make a girl fall in love!!
I especially love the continuity with having the same composition as TMP’s cover art.
I’m so glad you like it! The artist is Adrien Valdes and I honestly think all the covers they’ve done for Heart’s Choice and CoG are gorgeous.
It does go really well with the art from TMP, you’re right!
I can’t even decide which one is more gorgeous.
Agreed.
In other news, the new branch just passed 20,000 words. Still have to wrap up this alternate chapter route and adjust the rest of the chapters to reflect what happens, but I’ve passed a big point in the plotline. Getting there!
So. Close.
I’ve done a round of revisions on the new material and added a bunch of related bits to other threads. I just have to do a pass on this new chapter to polish it up! Hoping to have a beta update ready for Monday with the Kai’s Quest route.
Hope you have a great weekend!
I was taking a break from the forum for a few days and also didn’t check the thread and come back to these kind of news.
It really does looks amazing and I’m so excited to play the full game .
I loved the friendship and found family feels you could have in TMP and tried out a bit of Ink and it is even more full of magic fun things.
Just wow.
I don’t have the time to beta test but am looking forward to buying the finished game.
It will be fun to see more of the world you built.
I’m so glad you’re looking forward to it. I can’t wait for Ink and Intrigue to be out so you can play the full game! Lots of found family and camaraderie, magic and romance.
Thanks for the encouragement! It was so nice to wake up to this comment.
The beta has been updated for anyone who is partaking.
We are hoping to wrap up beta testing by the end of August. After that, the game goes to a copy editor. It’s coming along beautifully! Big thanks to everyone who has given feedback to help me shape this thing into the best story it can be!
I’ll be working on it tonight.
Update:
The beta has once again been updated! I appreciate the feedback that’s been coming in. I’m still working—often late into the night—on polishing and improving Ink and Intrigue.
The biggest thing I’m focusing on right now is trying to set clear expectations early in the game that Kai’s world isn’t anything like the world the PC is from, and that his quest for vengeance will be violent. That way if you choose to help him on the mission the difference between worlds isn’t as much of a surprise.
One of my amazing beta testers commented that Kai’s Quest is a bit like being dropped through a portal into Whisky-Four. It’s an intense mission and I didn’t hold back on the details. Before adding this route, Ink and Intrigue was perhaps walking the line between epic fantasy and cozy fantasy, but adding Kai’s Quest pushes it firmly into the realm of epic fantasy with a touch of dystopian. Of course, you don’t have to go on Kai’s mission, so if you don’t like violence that’s okay!
In this latest update, I’ve added tidbits of conversation in the beginning chapters to hint at the violence in Kai’s world and what his quest will entail. I will see if I can find other opportunities to match the tone more seamlessly, but if you’re beta testing and find places that might work to talk about Kai’s world or the fact that Kitherin use violence when necessary in order to maintain the harmony of the multiverse, I’d love to hear your ideas!
I hope you have an excellent weekend!
I’m ready for it! So it’s violent. We aren’t called warrior mages for nothing! What’s the point of all this training, getting magic tattoos and becoming buds with a griffin that boosts my prowess if I ain’t gonna put it inot action?! What’s the point of different dimensions if they’re all gonna be the same medieval fantasy? It’s funny, because I play my MC as the reluctant warrior who hated being her uncle’s spy and wants to leave her role and focus on her art. But her whole thing is that she did like learning the combat side of it and when she gets behind a good and just cause (Kai’s), she fully loves being a warrior. Besides, she needs to be close to her dragon rune teacher if he’s going too. Me and my MC are ready for this route!
Honestly, I’m so glad you feel this way. Thank you for the comment. Authors doubt themselves all the time (at least I do) and your perspective is so helpful!
I hope you love the new options with Kai’s Quest. You really get to see Kai and Teo in action and I love the characters on their team, too!
Everything new I hear about this game is just making me more hyped for it! Can’t wait for it to be published.
I know. I might take a day off and just Dive In.
Beta testing is all wrapped up and line edits are finished. Massive gratitude to everyone who participated and sent feedback!
Ink and Intrigue is headed to a copy editor next!
I’m exhausted from working on this game nearly every day since last October. But it’s so worth it!
I love this story and hope you will, too!
Starting tomorrow, I’m unplugging for a few days. To the healing garden I go.
An amazing achievement! Congratulations and enjoy the relaxation time!
Your hope is fulfilled! No worries there, I promise.
Congrats on reaching the milestone!
