I ended up making two more runs of the demo last night: one for Dakota and one for Orion. Holy shit!!! Putting it under the cut for spoilers…

Wheeee!!

I am definitely making a MC for Dakota. I loved them in the VD special, so I should’ve expected it, but I didn’t realize just how incredible they were in chapter 3. That scene was both hot and sweet, and gave a lot of insight into Dakota. I felt so bad for them when they were talking about people using them to get to G. :frowning: I’ll have to make sure my Dakota-MC doesn’t flirt with G so Dakota knows he’s first. Even if they agreed it’s just sex… I just hope the fact that he’s a sub-RO doesn’t mean you’re automatically fucked over with a bad ending.

For Orion… again, it was more than I expected, and it was glorious. It feels like Orion is off-balance because of how things are going down with BOTB, and being off-balance is making him more open. The “you’re sufficient” thing got me, and my MC just wanted to hug him. She just has to be patient, lol.

I read through the code for Seb, and can see the draw there as well, really. It was almost like aloe on a burn, a good feeling after the bar fight. And Seb was surprisingly less wussy and subby seeming. That cheek kiss, with him kind of taking a bit of control was really good. I may end up having to play that one, too, because it feels good. That shocked me, since I was kind of meh about Sebastian.

I also read through the code for August’s route and see the draw there as well. If they were a guy, I’d be all over it. They kinda feel like a guy in their interactions (and they’re so damned good to the MC), but I just don’t know. I’m damned tempted to try it, though.

Now I have to make more MCs, though. For Dakota and Orion definitely. I may yank my Seven MC and stick her on one of their paths if the Seven route doesn’t start looking more palatable soon.

I really liked the new chapter, but poor MC. They deserve a break after all that.

I play MC, who is open to repairing the friendship, but romantically, she moved on and is not interested in all the Seven melodrama anymore. So it’s super funny when Avina is trying to assert dominance by touching Seven and cuddling them whenever they can, and MC is totally unphased. And in chapter 2 (hope that stays in the new version), Seven tries to make them jealous about sleeping with Avina and then gets really pissed when MC just rolls their eyes. I enjoy these interactions quite a bit. I played MC, who was still in love with Seven before, and that was just painful to watch sometimes. I guess 7 romance is not for me.

The band and 7

Maybe I misunderstood (I’m not an English speaker) or I’m reading too much into it, but I think the band is acting a little weird when it comes to Seven. Whenever Seven is mentioned, they give each other these looks and act weird. At first, I thought they were just not sure how to approach the topic with MC, or they weren’t sure how MC would react. After that photo with Frankie, when MC tells them Seven was there, they do it again. And if I remember correctly, even MC noticed something there. So I wonder if there is something that happened between them and Seven that MC doesn’t know about. Was the vote really only about making the MC the lead singer, or was there some other reason for it as well? Or maybe it’s something completely different. I don’t know, but I’m very curious about the band.

I also noticed that the plot is separating the band and MC whenever possible, and MC is slowly being distanced from the group. I wonder if this is a buildup for a conflict between the band and the MC.

I’m literally avoiding every single scene now where mc has to be in Avina’s presence. Already didn’t share a bus. Not sharing car bc playing through that was so uncomfortable for me to read as a player :roll_eyes:

I did another play through earlier and shared a car with Blake and even if you don’t romance them it felt surprisingly civil and I felt it added more to the story.

Without having played the rewrite, I’d wager this is because Avina’s issue with the MC is personal, whereas Blake’s is not - they’re pissed about the cheating as a thing on its own, not at the MC specifically.

@Maldron Not sure why you deleted your post, but I agree. If it quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, it’s a duck to me unless you can prove otherwise. That applies to Savina with the hand on Seven’s thigh and they way they constantly crawl up each other’s ass.

It makes me think about the Friends episode where Rachel is dating this guy whose sister is completely inappropriate with him (wiping spilled food off his dick, feeding him by hand, licking each other’s fingers, the sister drawing baths for him and them apparently bathing together). This really reminds me of Savina:

If you have five minutes, I suggest watching This longer one that really shows you how it goes with them…. I could totally see Savina behaving this way around the MC when Seven and MC are together.

Same. None of my MCs share a bus with Savina, and I’ll never play the Savina car ride again. It was too cringe.

The Blake car ride was all kinds of awesome. It made me like them more, and it makes me curious as to what their plans are.

I think that’s close to the reason, but Blake doesn’t even seem to hate the MC about cheating. There was some comment about the MC being collateral damage–after Blake basically tells the MC they’re good (better than good) at what they do. Blake clearly hates the system and has no respect for the show or the business. I’m not sure what they’re planning, but I think they want to tear it all down and expose it for what it is.

Don’t have Patreon so I haven’t played the updated demo yet, but I really hope I can be a massive b!tch during the Savina car ride (Yes, I will purposefully put my MC through that.). Like, let my MC see the hand on the thigh thing, sneer, and call them both pathetic. Channel their inner Blake. Man, I’m excited for the update.

I hate everything going on with Victoria, we’re forced to care about them and so we’re forced into this drama cheating BS. I dont care how famous she is we should still be able to say no. We get choices on everything else except for anything involving Victoria and their shitty marriage.

Any theories about blake and G? Blake reveals a lot in the car ride. The name of the academy they attend changes on their gender so I’m guessing they used to attend an all boys/girls school with Blake (since Blake’s gender changes based on g’s) and either used to date or be a part of a band together until G ditched them to be on the bigger screens or smth.

Also, I would really like an option which enables the player to jump straight to a new chapter, if possible!

Gentle reminder that avina uses they/them pronouns and that both august and avina identify as nonbinary. Please dont try to sort or assume any masculine/feminine energies with them or any other nonbinary character. I know it was probably meant as harmless, but it’s superinvalidating to a person’s gender to just be shoved into those kinds of perceptions.

Yep, they’re like that. It’s both a sensitive topic and something they seem ready to use for their own issues as an example - Iris’ talk in pre-rewrite bar scene with ex-lover Seven being the prime example. Plus, MC can state they had no idea about the vote and tried to fight against it, only to be overpowered by popular opinion.

To be honest, I feel like others have strong drama and / or jealousy towards Seven, and that’s why they voted him out. MC is completely dependent on them once Sev is out of the picture, and I can’t shake off the feeling that was their main goal. Can’t trust anybody on this Love Island!

I mean I always try to use them pronouns when discussing either character. And even in the past when I’ve slipped up I’d immediately rectify it. It was harder at the beginning of the demo bc Amy didn’t immediately confirm the Avina pronouns so everyone just assumed that they were “she”.

I think with the Friends post by @EvilChani it’s more the relationship between seven/avina that she’s touching upon, not the specific genders. Ei, avina and seven has a very weird co-dependant, touchy-feely thing going on lmao

Edit: also G and Blake sooo used to date/be friends and sing together.

I like MC’s band, but I do think they’ve gotten complacent in their friendship. They take their closeness and care for granted, like something MC should just know. And I think that’s an especially unfair line of thinking when their poor handling of the vote drove away MC’s closest friend and, as far as we know, they haven’t really apologized for their role in it.

Yeah, I’m getting the sense there will be a blowup with the band. Honestly, it’s a long time coming for my MCs, because they resent the band for the vote and for basically causing them to lose their bff/LI.

Unfortunately, I think MCs who don’t auto-forgive them all and get over it will be guaranteed to lose due to lack of band unity. It’s actually funny after the ride with Blake, where they say their band isn’t up in their business and it’s better that way. G, on the other hand, seems to crave closeness they don’t get. Same with Frankie, who seems sad to be a solo act and not have people to share with. It’s clear that the narrative isn’t telling you that one way is right and the other is wrong, and that it’s a personal choice, but with MC’s band, I think there’s a clear right answer if you want to be able to win or have a career in music.

As for what you said about Seven… I had believed it to be indicative of the fact that they never discussed the vote after Seven left and just tiptoe around it, but it would interesting if the band had another secret from the MC, especially if it’s something Seven thinks the MC knew when the vote went down. That would make it even more tragic, even if it was a necessary break between MC/Seven.

Agreed. My MCs blamed her for it and refused to take the fall. She’s the one that dragged the MC along, and we had no in-game choice to refuse.

Of course, I think that was intentional–it’s part of the people-pleasing aspect of the MC, which is why we had no choice. I’m guessing in the future there will be a choice to tell people to fuck off instead of being dragged about against your will. Another post on Amy’s tumblr today mentioned something about the MC having an epiphany around chapter 5, and maybe that’s it.

@sillylittlebaka Yeah, the school thing will obviously come into play with Blake and G, since that appears to be the reason they had to be the same sex. I find it interesting. And I agree on the ability to jump to a new chapter, given how long it is. I think that’d probably require putting a choice set at the beginning of each chapter to set variables that you end up skipping, though.

I apologize if it seems I was assuming any “binary energy” with August. I was just giving my general impression of the character. This is precisely why I don’t romance nb characters, since we aren’t allowed to discuss anything related to gender for them.

As for Avina, I don’t care what they identify as, they have the attitude of the nasty characters from “mean girls”, which can be applied no matter a person’s gender. It’s just a description of the attitude, not a statement on anyone’s gender.

I never considered it was the Friends post that was taken the wrong way. And you are correct–it’s the vibe of the Savina relationship itself I was alluding to, not that one is a guy or woman. I’m not even sure how that could be inferred from that share, but if someone took it that way, sorry.

Probably no more than a normal amount of jealousy in a friend group (it happens) but I doubt it has anything to do with the vote. “The choices we make and what we lose for fame/success” comes up so often that I get a strong impression that the vote is a part of this, rather than the result of any petty jealousy on the part of the band members.

I think Seven had beef with someone in the band. Probably Rowan or Iris, though I would bet more on Rowan because he’s more clingy and has a tendency to pressure MC into things MC doesn’t like doing (bus ride in chapter 2 pre-rewrite).

MC, I feel. I believe MC mentions that Rowan and Seven used to argue and that Seven isn’t known as the backing down type. Now, when Sev is out, MC is soft as putty.
