I'm Sorry, But I Think We Should See Other People - ROs You Hate

Gil was traumatic. I hated having to talk to him. :unamused:

So was Jacob, but for different reasons. And here I though nothing could top Jacob lol

BW wouldn’t even give us a dwarf…forget a Krogan! :joy:

I also hate when as soon as they get together, the series ends. I get that writing the actual relationship is harder that the will they won’t they but if that’s where it ends, what’s the point? Come on! I waited six seasons for this! You’ve got to show me how they work as a couple!

Guy so bland I just learned he existed  What did you think about Dorian from Dragon Age: Inquisition btw? Because that was also a little tropey.

I think to do a slow burn well, you need a reason for keeping lovers apart that doesn’t feel like an excuse or the hand of the God swooping in to interrupt, or the romance will progress too far  But I’m not sure if I could say “how”, there are ways to do it that feel even relatable.

I liked Dorian, look tropes aren’t always bad…it all depends on the execution really. Dorian had obvious effort, love and care and some budget put into his design and it shows, it really shows compared certainly to the likes of Steve and Gil but also the run of the mill female preferring bi guy Bioware used to offer as gay romance options.

He wasn’t bad, didn’t care for his ‘War Cry’ though and omg, he was too loud. Mah ears.

The only time I found him cringey, was when you get sent to the future. And the music was heartbreaking, and find your allies dying and he is cracking jokes…rude.

I miss Zevran, that guy was hilarious.

Call me a glutton for punishment but I adored Sera as a Lavellan mage inquisitor.

Triply so after the trespasser dlc. All that worldending stuff mellowed her the heck out and it was lovely to see the growth of the character.

Though on the topic of sucky romance options…Lann from Owlcat’s pathfinder: wrath of the righteous. If you make the mistake of agreeing to spar with him the dumbass thinks youre in a relationship and only Wendy or Arue get that spot. -_-

Sera is underrated and BW should be ashamed of themself for that ‘Forever can kick out of the Party’, also fuck the haters. #SeraisLife :stuck_out_tongue:

Sucky romances? How about Aerie from BG2. My god, she wouldn’t stop about her wings. Mah wings, Mah wings, you simpleton cannot understand mah suffering! Now where was I? oh yes, mah wings! mah wings!

I just love the scene where shes freaking out about falling in love with a person that is everything she wants to hate.

It was…human. And sweet.

Urgh no more…I don’t wanna play DAI when I hate the game! Don’t make meeeeeeh! :joy:

Let’s talk about romances who have Daddy issues, I nominated: Annoymen!

Gladly would be a corpse upon that hill by your side. I cannot wait to play the rest of that and Cyril is a big reason why.

I can’t say I was terribly thrilled with Sera, myself. And a buddy of mine ruined her for me by informing me that she apparently has some dialogue where she outs Krem as transgender, and then proceeds to misgender him anyhow.

I’ve never seen this dialogue, because again, Sera doesn’t really do much for me, but if it does exist, whoof.

I love her, but this is the 1st time I heard of this. Also, how come the hate is on a virtual character and not on the writer who did it?

Its like all the hate against that 1 trans character in that BG game? I played the game and I never met the freaking character!

And the haters were having meltdown XD For fuck sake…

What game you guys talking about?

I mean, not all of the haters were homophobic. I’ve actually seen lgbt people online lambasting that notion because they didn’t like her either.

Dragon Age Inquisition, and Baldur’s Gate: Spear something. I only played it once, because damn…the romance sucked.

I end up with a passive-agressive romance who in the end was ‘Okay, bye!’ and that was it.

That ditch-me hurt…I’m still numb and trying to figure out WHO WROTE THAT?!

@comradelenin I never said they were. I said HATERS. I was a member of Bioware Social forum all the way its closed its door. And I sat there and watched a ‘I hate Sera’ biggest hate filled thread ever…

Don’t care why peoples hate her, no skin off my back.

I loved Josephine romance, a bit cheesy but sweet none the less.

You know who I would’ve loved to romance? That lady you face is you go the Templar route. Whats her name? She was so much better than Sampson…Urgh. He was so boring, I could barely remember who he was…to begin with.

Honestly, I feel like whoever wrote the Inquisition romances in general seemed to miss the mark a bit. Like, they’re great characters, but if I was put in a situation of having to choose one to get married to, that list is precisely one name long, and that’s Josephine.

But only because Varric insists on just being friends and my Warden has claim to Leliana already.

And I don’t wanna get between Dorian and Iron Bull, they’re too precious.

And what the hell, I’ll list why the rest are a miss for me, too - Sera, as previously mentioned, just kinda doesn’t click with me. Nothing against her, really, I just kinda feel… meh. Vivienne, I would have to be either drunk, high, or mentally unwell to ever consider romancing. Maybe a stuck up noble snob who’s clearly just using the Inquisition as a stepping stone for her own agenda is someone’s kink, but it sure ain’t mine. Cassandra is cool and will always have a place in my party, but she can get a bit too zealous at times. Blackwall’s cool, but he’s got past issues that make romancing him kind of a slippery slope. Cullen will ONLY romance human or elven women, and nobody else. I don’t know if you can even romance Cole in the first place, I’ve honestly never tried. Solas is my bro, but I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him.

I’m glad someone remembers Aerie  But I don’t think any BG romances can beat Anomen and Jaheira might be less annoying but she is your pretend-aunt and recent widow…
Early Bioware romances sure were a mess.

As for Sera, she’s a rare case of “I like her as a character but not as romance” because of how she acts towards elf and mage Inquisitors. It makes her more interesting but I can’t move past it

I loved Jaheira actually. But damn, I sympathise with Aerie but she wouldn’t shuttup about it.

You add Viconia to the mix, and it become hilarious.

I hated romancing Sera as an Elf, especially since it is a dalish elfish fish and I always play those as followers of the Gods. So it sucked. But as a Qunari? Fun Fun Fun Fun.

Also, while the romances in BG2 were dysfunctional. Gotta give it to the voice acting. It was top notch.
