Wow, yeah, that’s beyond slow burn. Book 1 is 21 chapters long. A normal couple could be married by Book 3.
Well the authour plans to have 7 books so if they were married by book 3 there wouldn’t really be a point of it being a romance book anymore. Regardless I don’t do A’s route since I just wouldn’t ever see me or my Detective dating someone like them and thus I spare myself the suffering but for others I can see how it’s very annoying. Same with M tbh, I can be good friends with both but never date them.
I’m fairly certain many marriages involve romance of some sort.
And yet both N, F and M get more development than A. It’s not a slow - burn, it’s dragging a cat by the tail on a carpet floor.
In my personal opinion, cutting the amount of the books and fixing the pacing of romances would do wonders.
I haven’t played that game, but just for this comment I think I will give it a try ![]()
You should! It’s a great game.
But yeah Darcy does deserve all the flak they get. They’re a petty child and they’ll always prioritize their career over everything else. There’s a reason why the game all but states you should lower their standing ![]()
They’re at best a frenemy and I’m really curious to see where a relationship with them will go, and we’ll know that once the book comes out.
Insert any of the psychotic ROs here. Junko, vampire bastard from soul stone, etc
Like I was just chatting with my friend who thinks Aesterion from BG3 is hot. I get physically attractive features but does the murderous personality not just kill the whole package???
Haha of course, I just meant that it’s more of an end game thing than a thing that’ll happen 3 books in. x)
I think for them murderous personality is part of the package like Dorn from Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 who is another murder happy romance option who people liked for similar reasons.
Dorn is also the only male/male love interest so…you kind of have to be okay with it if you want to play a gay/pan/bi male, unfortunately.
As an Astarion fan, I can say my interest in him is the fact that it is just so obviously a terrible idea. I like how messy it is, how he is so obviously trying to manipulate the MC. It’s just two people who would never interact were it not for the plot finding temporary, comforting distraction in one another as they move closer and closer to a fate worse than death.
Hm, maybe it’s because I’m aromantic, but I wouldn’t ever consider personality to factor into “hot.” I figured “hot” was always referring to a physical thing, whether you feel romantic attraction or not.
Though, I have described actions as hot, so maybe that’s not true.
I’m AroAce and I always avoid having my characters engage in romance if I can. Hence, I evaluate ROs based on how much I would want to be friends with them.
From that perspective, I think my least favorite RO is Oriana from Heart of the House. She is an unapologetically transphobic bigot. It feels rather jarring, because every other character in the story is completely accepting of queer people. She’s also a hypocrite. She expects other people to view her as a woman, despite the fact that she is not human at all. She’s a Lovecraftian monster shapeshifted into the form of a human.
Funny enough I do like(Better way to put it would be that I find him to more interesting) Aesterion a lot more then Dorn though I would only romance either of them if I was doing a evil run and I still dislike both of them as a person.
I’m also an Astarion fan; from my perspective, he has two advantages over the evil-aligned ROs I’ve mentioned disliking in this thread:
A) He’s entertaining.
B) He’s basically my only option. All the other ROs are off the table as romantic partners for one reason or another.
If he ends up not being redeemable at all, I’ll probably dump him, but for now I’m at least willing to see where things go.
I do think you can stop him from wanting to use the tadpole since there is the easy(Well probably not easy at all) option of freeing him from his master by killing that piece of trash and Astarion getting his power by bitting him before his death(I think that can work but I don’t really know DND vampire lore too well) but I would be surprised if you could get Astarion to stop being murder happy since I get a feeling he wasn’t exactly a good person before he got bitten.
I, Cyborg your creator Ypsilanti is an interesting RO that one feels a little like Stockholm syndrome whole novel basically everyone including you hates them then they pop up like “yeah you totally want me”
Modern dating strikes again @Zyrios
All jokes aside I think I have issues with the employee/employer aspect. As far as telling me how it is well… I’m a sucker for that IRL, love sarcasm and smart mouth quick quips so Fitzie is probably my go to in Jolly Good
And then they get mad if you choose to tell them to go screw themselves at the end of the story.
I think the line was something to the effect of, “You don’t get to tell me no, I created you!”
So then I joined the Space Police just to spite them.
(Also I don’t know why you quoted me about the Fitzie comment, that wasn’t me XD)
I did?
I’ll be honest, I haven’t been paying much attention to this thread, I’ve forgotten what I got a kick out of since the last time I looked here.
Intention was to tag you, not quote you because you got a kick out of it the first time around the modern dating line that is
I definitely hate Junko from Samurai of Hyuga. I really don’t understand why there’s people who likes him, he’s a freaking psycho and disturbed.
