I'm Sorry, But I Think We Should See Other People - ROs You Hate

Nuh uh, that’s not true, Crap Guide to DnD says that fireball is the best and only spell, and JoCrap is never wrong, even though he’s a terrible teacher!

I want to agree, but not much time pass in the story. It’s all pretty Quick, and it doesn’t make more than a month (at best) in the end that they know each other.
It’s not enough time to trust them with the life of her people. Her, it’s ok, but not the others. Give her a bit of Time. They prove themselves, yeah, but time must work as well.

Meh. Cast a spell of domination over someone who can throw a fireball. That’s fun…
Or create an illusion, make him think hé is surround by ennemy instead of allies or innocent people. Then he fireball…

As much as I personally enjoy DnD, it’s off topic for this thread. Please keep to chat about which love interests you want to break up with or who just don’t appeal!

It seems a running theme is romance options who pursue the MC which can end up feeling unsavoury if the MC or player isn’t into it. Or romance options who aren’t compatible ethically with an MC’s/player’s tastes (though they may be appealing to others for the same reasons).

Fair call on Daelynn. It doesn’t make me dislike her less, but I mean, I’ve already conceded that she’s likely operating under some not-entirely-misinformed biases. (Is it wrong to assume all humans are bastards? Sure. But given that a bunch of bastard humans HAVE been giving her, her people, and her best friend a bunch of crap, well…)

I think you might be thinking of a different game, TLW is the one where you get interdimensionally kidnapped and forced into being a wizard for a kingdom on the brink of war with a tyrannical empire. Unless these are just RO paths I’ve never taken that exist in the game, which, considering my characters are all ace by default in TLW, it very well could be for all I know.

Nope, same game

Wild. The romance paths sincerely don’t sound like they’re even from that game, and yet here we are.

I just reinstalled it to make sure, and yup, same game indeed. Jasper is poly soldier dude and Adam’s prince guy. While re-reading the beginning I also learned the word discombo…bulated…

Personally mine is Meredith from Heroes of Myth

She mind controls people simply to get her way and sees nothing wrong with stealing the agency of sapient creatures she sees as inferior to her.

Then in the later game she tries to wax poetic about unity and equality and how much demons love humans. She even gets mad when you stop a rampaging demon from killing dozens of people because the demon was “scared.” So I should’ve worried about the demon’s feelings instead of the lives of all those inferior humans? :triangular_flag_on_post: :triangular_flag_on_post: :triangular_flag_on_post:

Yeah people in positions of power love using that power to get what they want from the people they exercise power over.

Also to a lesser extent that bard, Min, from the same story. She keeps trying to get you to help the demons regain their power over the lesser races because her people enjoyed it in the past.

Going to throw a new name in here – Orianna from Heart of the House. She’s cruel to Reeves and Loren, both of whom are, to my recollection, doing the best they can in a difficult situation, and specifically has a habit of misgendering Loren.

Not to mention that at the game’s climax, if you’ve been pissing her off the whole time, she tells you that she’s going to call on some demon buddies to help the fight, “and if you know what’s good for you, you’re going to let them!” (Paraphrasing, mind.)

And if you choose to slam shut the gates to the demon world, she out and out tries to kill you after first mind controlling your allies into leaving so that you have no backup.

Yeah, Meredith is a strong miss for me, too.

Eh, to be fair, Orianna has been enslaved by the owners of the manor for a bajillion years. She’s understandably incredibly pissed at everything, everyone, and their goldfish.

She also says that the demon who you’re descended from would be sad that you’re not embracing demons and you’re nothing like him despite carrying his blood.

So she basically calls you a blood traitor

Real demon supremacist vibes, miss me with that.

J can actually be romanced without being into poly and they won’t get with anyone else unless you went down that route, and A’s romance starts as a publicity stunt then it becomes genuine.

I didn’t know that about J, but I’m pretty sure I only chose their romance route once or twice, so the details are hazy. I remember him asking at one point if it was okay for him to bring someone else next time he was gonna visit and I said yes, which resulted in a threesome. I don’t like poly routes at all, so there must have been a good reason why I agreed, and that can only have been me being “scared” of losing him as RO if I said no, or having said no before while playing his route for the first time (resulting in him not being happy about it). I thought it was the latter, but maybe I’m wrong and I just went along with it, because I felt pressured to do so. I never romanced him again after that, because I was so uncomfortable.
When I replayed the beginning I noticed he actually says he can live with only one partner, if he really likes them. Could it maybe be a stats-related thing?

Thanks, I’ll try that! I’m curious now.

I actually had no idea there was a poly route for a long while because I’ve always had a monogamous relationship with J. There’s even a part where they come crying to your door because they were away for a while and didn’t want you to think they were unfaithful because of their reputation for flirting.

I think you need to choose options that push a monogamous relationship with them.

Does it count for this thread if the RO suddenly becomes someone else, someone you’re not at all interested in romancing?

Yeah. VERSUS. Yet another Sergiverse trilogy that I walked away from during the final installment…

I just couldn’t with any of the Versus ROs. Somehow, for the first time in my time reading CoGs, every single RO was a turn-off for me in some way or another. Even Ollie. Hell, especially Ollie, thinking about it. I don’t know what, specifically, my problem with Ollie was, I just could not shake my gut feeling that I wanted nothing to do with her.
