I have listed the steps needed to win if your MC is size 2 (short dude) in the post a little upthread: duck and counterattack, tackle, pull his visor up.
(although those were for MC who doesn’t specialize in fighting. I haven’t checked that path, but it’d be odd if the MC who does specialize in weapons didn’t have a win option here where his tactical counterpart does)
Weapon can make difference in one or two checks but it’s not obligatory. Armor is only cosmetic iirc.
If your MC is a short woman then she is size 1, and this has different path to win than short man (size 2). You’ll need to pick:
#You duck the blow and quickly counter-attack. #You step back and strike for the skull with your ${weapon}. #You discard your ${weapon} and draw your dagger.
There’s no way you can fail that. The game doesn’t even have a variant for such outcome in those choices.
Please make sure that your MC is a woman like you say? Maybe you’re confusing two of your different play throughs and you’re using wrong tactics for your MC’s size?
This is the relevant code:
#You step back and strike for the skull with your ${weapon}.
*if (duel_height = 1)
He raises his mace at the last second and blocks your blow. He quickly counters, swinging a savage blow aimed directly at your skull.
You barely manage to duck in time. The mace scrapes the top of your helmet.
Sidestepping, you strike for his skull again. And this time, it connects.
Your ${weapon} slams against the side of his helmet. The force knocks his head to the side, exposing his vulnerable neck for a few brief moments. You seize upon this opportunity.
You bring your ${weapon} down upon the mail.
*if (weapon = "warhammer")
Bone crunches beneath the blow. But before you can raise your hammer up for another strike, the warrior reaches up and grabs the weapon, keeping it pinned against his neck.
*if (weapon != "warhammer")
But it doesn't penetrate. Before you can attempt a second strike, the warrior grabs the weapon, keeping it pinned against the chainmail armor.

#You discard your ${weapon} and draw your dagger.
You simply release your ${weapon}. He pauses for a moment in confusion.
You draw your concealed dagger and thrust it upwards into the mail under his jaw.
Steel pierces through mail. And then into flesh.
Panicked, both of his hands fly around and grip your own. He desperately pushes back against you as the dagger presses deeper.
You have no chance to beat this massive warrior in a contest of strength. So you press on with one hand and slam your other fist upwards against the pommel of your blade.
With each strike, it sinks deeper and deeper into his throat.
After the fourth one, blood pours out from beneath his mail. You tear the weapon free.
The rebel sways on his knees, letting out a horrible gurgling. You deliver a kick to his chest, knocking his dying body to the ground.
He thrashes for a few moments more before finally going still.
You avert your eyes from the grisly sight.

*goto Outcome2
#You drive your ${weapon} down further.
*set c8_Injuries + 1
Steel grinds against mail. But it fails to break through.
Using this opportunity of struggle, the warrior seizes your wrist. He twists it sideways. Pain fires through your arm, and you release your ${weapon}.
He lunges forward from his knees, striking you in the chest and sacking you.
You hit the ground on your back. The air is torn from your lungs.
Before you can roll away, he pins you down with his knee. He reaches for your helmet's visor. The two of you wrestle over it briefly, but he manages to tear it open.
You're now granted a clear view of your impending death.
He draws a dagger.
You pull your hands up to protect your face. He plunges the steel blade down, and you manage to parry the blow away with your gauntlet. [i]Not today, you son of a bitch.[/i]
Instead of stabbing again, he slugs you across the helmet with the hilt. Stars flash across your vision. You can taste blood in your mouth.
The blade is raised again.

“Outcome2” is where you win, “Outcome1” is where you lose. As you can see, they’re associated with the final choices in fixed manner, with no additional factors.
I swear that I played with poleaxe, plate and as a short woman
I chose both decisions in different playthroughs with the same character (using your own weight against him and striking for his skull) and none of them work.
You definitely don’t need a war hammer to win – my MC who is a short woman got that win using those options when she uses sword, not a hammer.
Could you maybe post screenshot of the scenes you get when you pick your choices? It’d be helpful, since it’s then easier to figure out which script bits the game is going through and what is happening on your end there.
are you talking about Milon? i’ve seen people say he’s creepy since the demo days but i’ve never really gotten why lol. it’s been a while since i played tho so maybe i’m forgetting something. what about him creeps people out?
Short anwser peoples feelings and perspectives on things. A longer anwser it stems from the fact that before the MC was dishonered as a female mc he was high up there to be betrothed to. Havent played a male mc so not certain how things play out differently yet for a female mc he can be seen as stalker like? At moment having trouble describing things yet essentially for a female mc not interested he comes off bad until he finally gets the hint that not interested hence why people find him creepy. It basically raises a bunch of red flags one of the biggest case of point is when he just up and enters the MCs room under the stated reason to check on there injuries back when the capital is being besieged.
Im sure others could state it all much better than me exspecially those that feel that way. Nevertheless its made duke milon not the best of ROs for some people to say the least lol
That and Lada’s behavior, even though it’s very similar to Milon’s (worse even; Milon never tries to flirt with and touch the f!Marshal when she’s receiving medical care) if you play as a guy, gets brushed off by the players. I think it’s due to gender roles and expectations in our society?
@Valixon They actually were betrothed as children. Milon sees reconnecting with f!Marshal as a childhood friend romance being rekindled. The Marshal may see things differently.
I actually think he’s a lot better with boundaries than Lada is, to the point where if you’re not interested, it can feel really, really bad, but it doesn’t get the same notice because it’s usually the other way around. Not to minimize, exactly, just putting it into perspective
Yeah, it took several playthroughs with F!Marshal (while romancing Milon, who is IMO much better at boundaries) to get over my dislike of Lada as an RO. Since she’s much different around F!Marshal and I enjoy the dynamic of them being women in male-dominated professions who excel due to sheer competence. So basically I like Lada, just not as a love interest.
I suspect that the lack of issue people have with Lada (even though she’s worse at boundaries with unwilling M!Marshal than Milon with F!Marshal) may also be due to Obren–a gay M!Marshal has a romance option (and Obren is not only a reward for suffering through Lada’s advances, he is universally well loved). A lesbian F!Marshal has no one yet.
