This seems like a great project…that I probably cant/wont do haha. As I’m pretty sure someone said, I’d be interested in maybe being an alternative for somebody who wants to drop out. Good luck with the project- it seems like itll be fun!
Yeah it is thanks for that
Hey are you still looking for writers or are all the spots filled? Cause I’d be more than interested in joining.
Here’s a bit of my writing assuming you are still looking for writers. I also have a bio for my hero should you want to see it.
Thanks for that, I’m still looking for more people so this is perfect
Character Concept
Captain Centauri
After a mysterious encounter with an alien spacecraft, you have now found yourself possessing incredible powers! You must use these abilities wisely, while trying to unravel the true reasons for your strange new gifts…
Gravity Manipulation - You have the ability to control gravity itself, making objects or people heavier or lighter, or even turning everything around you into zero-gravity!
Character Info: Raul Jacobs is locked up in prison for manslaughter killing his friends by accident in a car crash. The mysterious corporation decides to use Raul Jacob as the first experiment for Project: Armageddon. They strap him to a chair. Raul Jacob who then begins scratching, kicking and screaming gets his mouth taped shut. The scientist puts a hard cold needle on his arm and sticks it in. Thus the transformation to an 8 foot tall muscular purplish humanoid monster.
He goes crazy and destroys the whole laboratory that he’s been placed in. and runs away far from the location he was brought in. Later back to his regular body. Raul Jacobs calls his other form “Demolish.” and sees it as a way of righting the wrong that he committed in his past criminal life and protecting the innocents, even tho the innocents sees him as a terrifying unpredictable raging monster.
Character bio: Titan Fang, a cyborg Tyranosaurs Rex, who was experimented on by aliens before hatching to make him a biological super weapon. The laboratory where his egg was kept was in horrible condition when it was found by explorers however the egg was left intact. Titan Fang is only 5 months old and is the size of a car, he is about has smart as a 10 year old and has the mindset of one but is strong enough to distroy a 5m concrete wall with his jaws! He has a very fast matabalism as his growth was excellerated rapidly after he hatched. In personality he’s kind and sweet IF you know him if you’re a stranger he’ll treat you with hostility he’s also extremely loyal. He sees the other super hero’s has perennial figures and has rivals.
Has for a introduction for him I was thinking about the hero’s finding Titan Fang attempting to get a meal aka trying to eat them and distroying the area after the hero’s beat him he runs of looking for “mummy” one of the explorers that raised him for a little while who was in her 70’s. the hero’s follow they cach up to him trying to wake her up. She doesn’t, and one of the hero’s carm him down with Titan Fang explaining that “mummy” has been like this for a week. You can break it to him or lie to him. If you tell him that “mummy” won’t be waking up he’ll be heartbroken and will think you’re lying, so he’ll try to wake her up to no avail. If you lie he’ll believe you and will have false hope about that he’ll still try to wake her up it still won’t work. If you lie he’ll join the villain, they said that they can wake her up. You have to convince him to join your team if you lie to him it’s not that hard. He’s rather gullible.
Has for powers Titan Fang has: super strength, heavy armour, energy weapons eg plasma claws and tail, fire breath and ice breath.
For weakness: he’s gullible, really big magnets he needs to eat a lot of food, his mentality 10 so he view’s the world has such (eg good vs evil, good guys all ways win, he’s the protagonist, no such thing as an anti hero or anti villain, and so on) he can’t understand death.
I’d be down with joining in on this project! This topic is super interesting to me and I would love to be a part of this if you haven’t filled your spots! I’m working on something right now, but no wip so I’ll write you a little something below
I’ll make the character bio brief (apparently not): Jason Rizzo, also known as the anti-hero Bright, was brought to bring your kid to work day by his mother, who worked in some sort of botany/herbalism lab. Que the classic kid-where-he’s-not-supposed-to-be-during-important-lab-test during a test to increase oxygen production through flooding the plant with a different kind of light through an intense beam. Jason is hit with the beam and through some miracle, isn’t killed and even gains his super powers, which are light-based beams and flight and whatnot. He keeps these a secret from his mother and uses them to commit various petty crimes in his teens and early twenties but then accidentally kills a whole car full of people. He covers it up and decides to only use his powers against criminals. And that’s where we’ll find him in the book.
I’m looking for a couple more female character concepts so if anyone has any send them through
(Almost finished picking people I’ll be messaging people soon)
yeah, diversity is needed.
As @hustlertwo and @Eric_Moser mentionned this is going to be very difficult. Not just because of the law/organisation but simply because of one simple problem.
Namely, the fact this is an Interactive Fiction. And this cause several problems.
One, it’s very difficult to impose meaningful choices to players to begin with; to do so with one chapter and six characters would at best make the workload far bigger than imaginable or at worst make the choices meaningless.
Two, it’s too spontaneous. Believe me, when strangers decide to write together impulsively, things tend to get heated. I’ve tried writing things with a friend I have known for almost a decade, and we stopped after a couple thousand words.
Three, every author has a character. That means no matter what, they’ll care more about their character than the others which, once more, can lead to problems of cohesion. If everyone has a headcanon which contradicts the others even the slightest bit, everything can fall apart.
Fourth, fluidity. It’s impossible to keep the narrative fluid and regular when you have so many authors. If you had several people giving ideas and one writing, this could be done because the writing style would stay the same. But here, the style will vary from one author to another, which means that while one author might do fine, the shift to another might be brutal and bore the reader. I mean, look at Wild Cards, a popular series about superheroes who is widely criticized for being irregular.
Because that’s the fifth and biggest problem: quality. One author will need a thousand words to make a good character. Another will need pages upon pages to just establish his main characteristics. One author will be able to keep the reader hooked for the entirety of their chapter. Another will make them bored with their introduction.
I’m not trying to discourage you guys. I just think that some people see something “Marvel-like” and instantly think they can pull off something like the Avengers easily. Moreover what you’re suggesting is more like how the Justice League movie was made. Sure it’s faster, it also means characters don’t have as much importance. The Avengers took years to establish characters and their personalities, an entire movie to establish a semblance of connection between them and another half dozen to truly create the MCU.
The best way to pull off a MCU-like universe would be to make an entire game with a save at the end, transfer that save into another game with another hero, rinse and repeat till you finally can do what you want. But beyond the problem with coding all of this, there’s also the problem that authors won’t last that long. I’m pretty sure that most of the HG authors aren’t working full time on their games because it simply not enough to make a living. Now divide that by seven. Sure, you might be passioned by this project now, but what of the future? You have tried your hand at making WiPs three times and already proposed something like that a year ago, @Oliver_Fell, you should know how hard it is for one person to keep on writing while it’s fun then get bored. I’m pretty sure everyone here (including me) has already done something like that.
Sorry didn’t mean for this to be this long. And once again, I don’t mean to be hersh; it’s just that as a litterature/language student I tend to present things in a very critical light.
@Oliver_Fell
A female character concept
The Fission Lass
A scientist at the CERN Laboratories, your life was normal - until the particle accelerator in the middle of a vital experiment experiment malfunctioned and exploded. The accident has resulted in you gaining strange new powers - but now, the government is keen to hunt you down and exploit you!
Phasing - Your power means that you can phase the atoms of your body, meaning you can transform to whatever you touch.
totally interested in this as a reader. I believe you can create something special with this, we shall see though.
I don’t think you can fall into a particle accelerator while it’s running? Maybe have it malfunction instead? (It’s your character so write them how you like, it’s just I’m not sure how that would work.)
Yeah I guess that is true
i dig it
Cheers
The hardest choices require the strongest will .
Dread it run from it destiny still arrives…and now it’s here or should I say I am.
you could not live with your own failure. where did that bring you? back to me.
