Highway Wars Releasing and Discussion :-)

Same sentiment with the person above. I haven’t watched Mad Max but I did see some bits and pieces through trailers and gifs. The premise do sound interesting and so far the demo feels okay to me. The demo did say it is quite stat heavy though.

@resuri08

If you don’t like the stat mode, you can choose to pick “Easy” mode, which means stat will be less important and we can concentrate more on the story telling… which i felt is very addicting, as when i read through i just can’t stop …it is just like the case of me driving to the waste land , trying to finish my mission as fast as possible…i will re-read it again and enjoy the moments in slower motion  with different choice of course…
@Vanessa_Pang… I gives all HG/CoG novels i bought a five-stars , since i think these authors deserve the 5 stars for their efforts  It all depend on individual taste and preference , nothing is perfect but if i think i like the story, i just gives it a 5 stars… there is always something that hook me up with the story i read

Yep, it has a mad max vibe with the post apocalyptic world setting, but isn’t a retelling of the story so you don’t need to have seen it to like it. I agree with @Eric_knight I’ve played it on an easy setting when I didn’t feel like having to closely monitor stats and it works great.

I would advice you to choose Easy mode in the beginning, it will allow us in increase stats easier

how do I marry someone in the game?

@adrao mention we can only marry one of the three warlords for political reason, so i suppose we must try to romance these warlord  I am not sure who are these 3 warlords , there is one called Maria (although i never met her ), the other one is Muntelo …not sure who is the third , i suspect we must follow the route of "return to Bagus after rescuing the engineer, don’t stay in the robot base… we should encounter confrontation in the Siege of Bagus , where we will meet at least some warlords there

Purchased! Looking forward to checking this out over the weekend! Will avoid the thread and spoilers until I finish!

And love the cover art, @adrao! Congrats on the release!

@Eric_Moser, I also like it, it was done by @Feather! Hope you like it!

@Frogs in one of the branches of the game there are laser battles… You can guess that the game does branch of a lot!

@Logan3000x I never thought that the surname would be important, so never placed it there. Not quite a bug, but maybe not the best game design. I might change it in the next update. The gender, as @Eric_knight points out, is chosen through the name (indicated as M, F or NB)

@Eric_knight I guess I greatly polished the game in the months before release (reading and re-reading). Though, much of the improvement was probably also due to the efforts of @Fiogan (thanks!). Regarding the endings, I’m playing with this in my head now, and I’m considering adding this in the next update.

@Blank It depends on the difficulty setting you are playing, and at which point you want to inject yourself. Generally speaking you need a seriousness of >55 and and aggressiveness of <45.

@Logan3000x this is only in the final stages of the game you can marry one of three warlords, Gorka, Sergio or Teresa. They are political marriages, though not all the characters will necessarily enter into them, and they will each evaluate you based on their individual character -i.e. each one of them judges you according to a different character trait Let me know if you are finding this difficult, as there could be a bug.

@Eric_knight you cannot marry Maria maximum you get a fleeing kiss! Though this might not be so easy to do…

Has anybody conquered the warlords? And if you did how did you do it?

I am a bit puzzled by some of the reviews the game is getting. Some people are saying the game is political, or has a political agenda. Can somebody explain this to me a bit better? I don’t think there are so many Spanish people buying this game (if there is and you feel it’s political please let me know… I tried my best to make my game a-political, but I do understand there were some risks…)

I guess this could be down to US politics, yet I still find the comments very strange (given also that people are buying what clearly seems like a Mad Max game, in a future where climate change has gone rampant…)

Unfortunately, if someone thinks climate change is a political issue, they can’t be reasoned with.

Those who complain are “afraid” of the term “Global Warming”…

Environmental issues supposed to be a friendly educational topic, but as @Samuel_H_Young mention… we can’t reason with people who don’t understand the purpose of reasoning

I won’t be surprise if in future, we can’t even talk about “Nuclear Destruction” or "pollution "

Easiest way is to mobilise the Robot Army and defeat them

@Eric_knight Shhh… they’ll here you. It’s known as “atomic reconfigeration” and “environment enrichment” now.

Yes, the “political agenda” of having a future earth set in a period where the climate has changed.
Because you couldn’t possibly use that as a setting (any more than it would be appropriate to use a world wide disease epidemic or a meteor hitting the earth.) Notice no one accused you of scaremongering about the dangers of GMO’s? Anyway it doesn’t matter, we all know that climate change is just an unsubstantiated theory with no basis in science and used for political propaganda :stuck_out_tongue: (/sarcasm) .

BTW- Anyone notice how weird it is that things like this are considered “political agenda” and dismissed or reacted against now days, but if you look at something like “Silent spring” which was deliberately used to increase awareness of pesticide misuse a few decades ago, it actually mobilised interest and discussion on the topic.

The disturbing thing about all this is that these few (as I hope they are few…) people could really affect sales. I mean, if you are a potential reader you have no idea what this “political agenda” of the author might I be, so you could stay well away from the game (thinking it might be something more sinister, than merely creating some a story of how the future might look, based on our current understanding of climate change).

I can deal with comments about the game being short (I take these as a complement, even!), the writing being stale or boring (my own fault), other games being better (hey, there are some other amazing authors in HG and CoGs that are way better than me, and I’m 100% ok with that!), but this game “having a political agenda” is a difficult one to digest… I wonder how much an effect this will all have? (anyway, I’m actually quite intrigued by all this, so in a way it has poked my scientific/sociological curiosity…)

Thanks… It is good for me to learn new knowledge and terms

Don’t worry, i think it won’t matter much  … in fact, it may actually gain you more attention because more readers will be interested in “understanding” what sort of agenda they were talking about

@ASTA, as @Eric_knight said, the easiest way is to “recruit” the robot army -which would basically greatly increase your chances-, and if possible get the militias from Burgos and Zamora early on on your side -your loyalty has to be very high-, or marry the correct warlords

However, the amount of troops that the warlords can throw against you depends on difficulty. I’m just wondering, how many of you managed to defeat them at each difficulty level?

  • Managed to defeat warlords in Very Easy difficulty
  • Managed to defeat warlords in Easy difficulty
  • Managed to defeat warlords in Normal difficulty
  • Managed to defeat warlords in Hard difficulty
  • Managed to defeat warlords in Very Hard difficulty (not sure whether this is even possible?)
  • Managed to defeat warlords in Impossible difficulty (I think this is impossible, but did anybody even try?)

I have one suggestion about the conquest path. Shouldn’t gang forces like the Bullfighters and Red Skulls expect a share of the plunder?
