Just finished the game. Played as a Gnome Wizard who had 2 of each offensive spell and 2 Arcana Shield casts.
It was quite a fun game, not gonna lie. Definitely more gameplay focused than story focused so far, which I’m fine with. My only real complaint is that the writing feels so…bland. The writing in LoaW and TLH, while not superb, still stuck out to me and was enjoyable to read. The writing here, on the other hand, just feels monotonous and boring.
But yeah, other than that I really enjoyed the game. Keep it up, Lucid.
Yeah, the writing does feel more simplified, but it doesn’t bother me. As you said, it’s probably because the other games followed an important story, here, though, you are free to go wherever you want, so that would be the case, I think.
I’ve just one issue with the game that hasn’t already been said.
You can buy full-plate.
See, the thing is, each suit off full-plate must be tailormade to match it’s wearer, otherwise it will be really cumbersome, or even Impossible to wear. In fact, that’s why the stereotype about plate being immensely heavy exists in the first place - noodle-armed historarians donning armor that wasn’t made for them.
Every game I’ve ever played does the same thing.
Just take it as a QoL thing, I know I wouldn’t want to have to wait weeks in game to upgrade my armor.
@Lucid Might I suggest something? When you finish your guard duty and Delray finally finds your sword, might you make it so that a choice pops up with which you can sell your sword? I had my inventory full and I didn’t want to drop anything, but selling that sword could’ve gotten me some money.
Edit: Not technically sell, but ask for money instead? I already had a longsword by that point.
Power lets you do something. Like Sneak Attack or Turn Undead.
It gets easier when you reach level 1. You can do that just with the side quests and small enemies. When new areas/quests get added, the next levels should become easier to reach too, instead of just grinding out the same enemies. But this will take time to build.
It’s a tricky balance. I need to keep the word count down when things get repeated a lot. Once we get companions, friends, romances, and more story, I hope that it will feel fuller.
@Nadin2011 You got lucky. That’s the first artifact we see. It’s a randomly generated magical item. @N1GHTMAR3 yup. Random.
Hard to say. Ranger might need 1 level of fighter, or it might just need some Survival and Animal Care skill. I’ll have to think on it. But yes, a Ranger in the Lucidverse is an archer.
The four original classes (Wizard, Thief, Fighter, Cleric) are all independent. You can bring those side quests right up to the point where you need the XP to train. Although the quests/monsters aren’t enough to reach a 2nd level without grinding, it’s possible to level up in all 4 of these. So, if you’re a glutton for punishment (and I don’t advise it!), you could reach level 12 and have 3 classes of each. That’s what’s been coded so far.
Barely! You should hold on a day. If I can find time soon, I’d like to fix up all those errors before moving into new content. But yes, there’s a link at the start of this thread.
Hmm, I’ll look into that. The Give routine and the Sell routine aren’t easily connected, but I might be able to write an exception for Delray giving something.
Yes, it’s a gameplay thing. We either takeout full plate, or ignore the time constraints of buying it. I might remove it and make it a special thing, but I wouldn’t want to make the player wait a week or two to get it.
Another question. Are the two potion recipes (Minor healing and Minor strength) the only ones available in the game’s current state? Or is a time thingy, so you have to wait a few days or so? I did wait for a moderate amount of time, so I assume there are no more potions implemented yet.
And onto the matter of magical shields: the explanation given was pretty straightforward when it said it blocks damage (different kind of shields block different ones). However, do they only last for a turn, or for a few more turns? (3-2).
Do I need both a certain percentage of both Animal Care and Survival to become a ranger? Because I would like to become a Wizard/Ranger combo, but I cant level up Survival as a Wizard. And if we can level up to level 15, does that mean that we can level up to level 3 in three different classes or, at the end, that we can level up in one class to level 15?
Does that mean as a Ranger I can get a Perk in Long Bows too, not just Crossbows?
