It was a game on this site, I think you were an undercover officer who left behind there family for about six months. Thats all i can remember

In The Gangs of Old Camp you play an officer who goes undercover and is arrested.

There is also Life of a Mobster, in which you are a criminal who gets arrested, and later might become an undercover FBI agent, if I remember correctly.
