I am theeeerrrreeee!!!
When you buy the game, you buy the game, just like with COG or HG. The pricing is the same (based on word count, etc etc). Doing so turns off ads and delay breaks forever.
If you pay to bypass a delay break, itâs a one-time thing.
Thanks for making that clear, I prefer to Just buy things, without other worries.
If a NB focused game gets pitched first thatâs fine, just as long as M/F or V/F games might eventually happen.
I also donât think itâs a crime to nicely ask about it so the devs know thereâs a interest in them and so disprove the whole âstraight men donât read romance gamesâ and âit would always be just pornâ theories. But I am sure when the right pitch for a M/F or V/F game happens that fits the criteria of a HC game it will compliment everything else.
We donât
think
that. No one thinks this. Please stop throwing these comments around. Itâs not the first time youâve suggested that these are the kinds of reasons we donât yet have a M/F genderlocked game. Last time you clarified that these were reasons you were imputing to another user here, but thatâs also not okay. The next time I will delete your comment.
You know, you are 100% capable of writing a game like this yourself and pitching it to COG. Instead of complaining about not having a game that you can see yourself playing and constantly blaming a publishing company for not receiving pitches for M/F games - something completely out of their control - make one and pitch it. Most of the writers submitting games to COG are women and members of the LGBTQ+ community, so theyâre going to write from their perspectives. Theyâre under no obligation to cater to what you want.
You also have a whole SLEW of official COG titles and Hosted Games that let you play as straight men, and quite a few of those games have a major focus on romance. Obviously straight men enjoy interactive fiction, so bringing up that other people want M/F is pointless. Itâs selfish to constantly complain about not having a M/F HC game when Mary stated multiple times that they just havenât gotten a pitch for one from a writer that matches their quality standards.
Plus, HC literally isnât even OUT yet. Youâre complaining about not having something that youâll probably, eventually receive by just waiting.
The demo for the pirate one owns, I am the queen of the seas
It really frustrates me that half the games set to be released on December 2nd allow you to play as a straight male, yet that is STILL not good enough for some people.
You havenât said it, sure, but I have seen at least one mod claim to not understanding what a M/F game would look like and several posters in the past (I wonât name names out of respect for your comments) suggest or imply such a game would likely just be porn. I donât want to say that these are reasons why as I am sure as you say that the right pitches havenât been made yet. But I cannot pretend that things havenât been said before, fair or otherwise. I guess I can get a little irritated when there seems to be at times such an aversion to even suggestions of such games by some audiences, irrespective of how much content there is or isnât elsewhere. I do apologise if I have come across as too personal about it though and would hope to see civil conversation about it amidst other well deserved content for all other audiences.
I have made recent suggestions for games for M/F, V/V and even a possible F/V game elsewhere. Given that because of my dyslexia I find getting my head around Choicescript difficult I am uncertain if I can ever get them written, but I am willing to suggest them to others as needed. As to the rest of your post I am not specifically challenging anyone to create such games immediately, and most of my recent comments on the subject has been responses to some other people asking politely about the same thing. Some appear to be reading such comments as far too aggressive when they are not. I am honestly fine with waiting.
Jazz Age and Dawnfall are honestly great games so far now I am playing the demos and I lift my hat to their writers, and I am likely to give APP a try too, and the Wrestling game sounds great for its audience. I wouldnât want I or any other players having similar feelings about possible future content to detract from all of that.
Unless prompted, this will be my last word on the matter.
Mods =/= official COG staff. Mods are volunteers and do not work for COG, and their opinions are their opinions, not COGâs. Same goes for other posters. If they donât work for COG in an official capacity, their opinions donât represent the companyâs values.
Because this entire forum is composed predominantly of women and LGBTQ+ individuals that are bombarded constantly with entertainment media that showcases straight men in lead roles and heterocentric romances while shunting women-centric and LGBTQ±centric storylines. The COG audience has this aversion, not COG itself. The COG audience doesnât want games with just straight men because enough of that media exists that adding more of it is just exacerbating a problem that writing games with genderlocked women/LGBTQ±only protagonists intends to solve.
What youâve done and continue to do is comment on any topic/thread/media about HC with complaints that a M/F isnât being released yet. Iâve seen nearly every post youâve made on these topics and none of them contained any ideas, only complaints directed at Mary and other official COG employees about the fact that they arenât publishing a M/F game yet.
Itâs not that youâre being aggressive. The issue is that you continue to comment on HC topics complaining about the lack of M/F games even though Mary explained multiple times that the only reason they arenât yet publishing a M/F game is because one hasnât been pitched to them. So regardless of your intentions, whatâs actually happening is that you are constantly raising a complaint thatâs been addressed ad nauseum.
I sympathize regarding your dyslexia, but again, if your desire for a M/F is strong enough to compel you to comment on every single piece of HC thread with complaints about the lack of M/F representation, then either write one yourself or post ideas for HC in the Interest Check Thread. Your current method is doing nothing more than creating an issue where one never needed to exist.
Oh my apologies. I am indeed not a native English speaker. And thanks for explaining.
its like⊠there are a million M/F VNs out thereâŠ
Hi everyone,
Please return to the HC topic at hand and please avoid dogpiling the M/F topic further since this not related to HC discussion anymore.
Thank you.
Good call. Iâll track down a thread on this topic and link the discussion over there.
Ah, my bad. Apologies to implying any actual staff said such things then.
I have actually suggested some genres which might suit a M/F romance game before like superhero, space smuggler and also thought about a French Resistance game with a female protagonist, so I have made suggestions previously. I would understand if they have been buried amidst other posts though! But I might well do what you suggest in the long term. And thanks for your sympathy over my dyslexia.
Where, though? Every time this is mentioned I know itâs no where I am aware of. Visual Novels arenât the same as COG games anyway.
Sure thing boss!
I have tried the Pirateâs Pleasure and it completely won me over. The writing style is beautiful, I like how it described how the MC feels while standing on a ship. The wind ruffling our hair, or the saltwater on our cheek. It made me immerse in the world without overwhelming me with terms and names Iâm not familiar with - and the terms it did use, like crowâs nest, were easy to deduct the meaning.
The MC is a bit defined, which makes sense since weâre always a pirate queen, but there is still enough choices and interactions to make her our own. I always love when I can be a sarcastic smart-mouth in games and this one does not disappoint.
The characters so far are also great. I was afraid, since itâs marked as a romance game, that the characters who arenât romance options wouldnât feel developed. But I was wrong. I really felt like we had a crew, not just some nameless faces who do our bidding. Rose especially stood out to me, I was happy another female character is getting some attention.
Itâs still early, but the theme of Order vs Freedom is always one Iâm interested in and it seems so far that itâs handled well. My pirate will be all for the lawless walk of life, but I like how (apparently) we can eventually choose the other way.
As for the romance options themselves, all I can say is that I canât wait to meet captain Black We havenât met him yet, but I already know he will be the one
My only âcriticismâ (using the word very loosely) itâs how, even though I picked right away that I had no interest in the governor whatsoever, sometimes the text still implied my MC was attracted to him.
Other than that, great demo that made me stay up way past my bedtime and I canât wait for the full game!
Another thought just occurred to me. Will the Heartâs Choice subsection of the forums have another subsection dedicated to HCâs Works in Progress?
Also I have a question how old are each the mcs in each game?
I saw the icon! A heart-shaped CoG logo is very sweet. Iâm looking forward to the first batch of games and the following launches.
The MCâs age isnât really specified in Dawnfall, except that youâre younger than Aeon, who would be like mid-30s in human years! (And over the age of consent for your species. For sexy alien reasons.)
