Halloween jam 2024

Look you are a great writer I am the one writing a cheesy annoying vegetarian vampire

But I like the vegetarian vampires they sound kinda cool. They have a reason to bite something other than humans.

The psychedelic mushrooms fit the theme really well. Right, Mara?

I hate that dork goodie vampire too much. And I have it in my head lol

That’s a guy

And it’s more that for my 4 main NPCs I have:

A who has an abrasive personality
B who has a negative history with the PC
C who is a walking red flag
and D who is a chaotic part time influencer

But there’s also a cat in the story, so I guess that helps.

I disagree, but thank you.

Half of the community will LOVE this character just knowing this. lol.

Unless I somehow manage to make them unpalatable to the red flag crowd too.

I could be unprecedently terrible at this

It’s fine, I feel confident that I can soldier through my worries, at least at this stage of development.

Vampire pumpkins! (Check them out if you don’t know, they’re interesting.)

This just makes me want to try to do just that.

Hmmm, maybe if you made them kinda boring and un-charismatic?
Just cruel, without any pizzazz?

Or, you make them all dangerous and sexy at first, but then the romane arc turns them into an insecure woobie, with no edge.

Now I’m just picturing them hating pizza. (I just woke up, okay?)

Pizza Vampire eating human sauce lol

If it’s any consolation, I’m taking risks in this area too  So you won’t be alone. And jams are great for experimentation, right? I’m sure your entry will be awesome.

We can have mostly-set MC here, right? Write in third person?

I have realised that my game is going to be rather ‘visual novel’ in structure and length

I’m plotting a whodunnit.

Ooooohhhhh!
That’s a very intimidation genre to tackle, in my eyes.

Starting to think I bit off more than I can chew! If I pull this idea off, I’ll be amazed at myself. If I fail spectacularly, well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Brainstorming / writing has been a blast so far. Maybe I should use writing prompts more often-- before this, I was in a bad writer’s block slump, but this prompt has sparked my creativity 150%.

Maybe I’m biased, though, with Rocky Horror being my favorite movie. Yeah, yeah, not necessarily disco, but VERY 70s. And VERY camp. And those are the two things I want to push the most in my premise.

I have references to it in my game, so I vote that this is completely valid.

Ha. :slightly_smiling_face: I know nothing about disco (I’m more particular for 50s and 60s myself), but I’m hoping that if I can make just enough research to be able to describe a disco club (really tempted to name it “No Truce”… I’ve been playing way too much Disco Elysium lately) as a crime scene, I’ll be golden.

I let a link before for a really good documentary of the disco downs and ups I recommend it to you.
