I’m a step closer to fully delving into Golden’s universe again. I did some writing on it over the past few days, and did some additional planning for the end of chapter ten and I’m rather excited for it.
I’ve finally started the scene that’s been playing on my mind, I’m glad it’s finally started because it’s been difficult to get going.
The first choice options of that scene have been written up. I’m onto the second choice options, though I’ve realised that I’ve given myself a bit of work to do as I added in both a fake-dating route (romance) and the friend route—so I have to write 8 different scenarios for one choice which can get a bit repetitive, but I’m hoping it’s fun to read. Especially as the choice is quite new to the game, it’s an [in denial] choice to romance in game. I was thinking that if the ros can be in denial to the mc and any feelings, the mc should be able to act the same way at times—so fingers crossed that comes off well.
The last bit of planning I’ve done, well… it pretty much involves blackmail, and angst, and comfort, so it should be a good chapter if you’re into that stuff — I’d say the ros are in for a treat, but with all the angst, I’d be lying. It’s a little tragic, to be honest… but tragedy can bring a human and a few supernaturals closer… maybe.

Yes, blackmail! I’ve noticed how difficult it is to come up with worthy ideas for this scene though. Because every reader will have a different kind if mc, so blackmail about certain things would work on some mcs, but not others, so I’ve tried to make it as generic as possible — but enough so the mc actually care — and so there are secrets to unravel at the end. So, I’m hoping the writing for that is effective!

Progress is progress and I’ve made a whole lot of it!
It’s been so amazing and fun to get back into writing, like I’ve genuinely loved getting back into it and I finally finished off that scene I mentioned last week. The friendship scenes are done, and I’m super excited to share them with you guys. You’re able to develop your friendships with the ros, and you get to do that one on one in a supernatural setting.
Each scene for each ro ended up being over 2k words, and there are a few branches to read through so I think the replayability works really well. Next, it’s ro pov scenes! They’re my favourite to write. I love delving into the ros’ mind and their reaction to the fake dating (or friend route), and… you get to see their conversation with new character Zillah Arryn (cough tragic backstories here we go cough).
I think, so far, this has been my favourite chapter to write. I usually say this about every new chapter I write, but I truly do like this one and I hope it’s going to be an enjoyable read for you all.
I’m probably about halfway through, or just over that so we’re in a good position to get an update out extremely soon!

Just a bit of a note, when chapter ten gets released (which I believe will be in the next few weeks if everything continues to go to plan!), Golden will be about halfway through its writing process, maybe a bit more than that considering I never thought this game would be 300k words+.
So, due to all of that, it obviously means the game will get closer to being done and submitted to Hosted Games. I was told to start getting a few stuff ready from now for future publication such as screenshots, art etc.
Even though Canva and other websites are available to create cover art, I’d love to commission an artist who has read (and hopefully enjoyed) the game, so if anyone’s an artist on here and wouldn’t mind me commissioning some illustrative cover art, and other needed Hosted Games artwork for Golden, please dm me on here, my Tumblr, or drop me an email.

I find it curious how, when the Team is told of the PC having the mark, Kiana (I play with the genders set to female) agrees to kill him seemingly without doubt, yet when on the party’s garden, she’s visibly shaken when the PC asks if her offer to move to a more private place is a way to get them alone and killed.
Seems like it’s one thing to think of an unknown person as simply a threat to eliminate, yet another one entirely when actually faced with them. Even at zero friendship and flirtation.
