Glory to Froysia (WIP 8/07/2021) Cold War era ambiented Fantasy Game

There will be no police! Let the citizens govern themselves! (Except for my secret police that will whisk away my political opponents, unruly citizens, and Bob the pizza guy that delivered my pizza cold) But yes! Let the people rule!

I’d be wary of giving “nobles” in a cold war actual magical/superhero powers to justify their “right to rule” and superiority complex other than the “our ancestors were just meaner bastards than yours” and a couple centuries of accumulated wealth.

The problems I can potentially see in a setting with more modern politics than the typical medieval fare are the same as superpower augmentations in most cyberpunk settings really:

It will probably be extremely expensive to get augmented for a mundane. So if say the current nobles with natural magic are the 1% then this may expand magic to the top 10% at best while still remaining far out of reach for the vast majority. And that is provided that this technological magic isn’t (greatly) inferior in power to the natural abilities of your current ruling class to begin with.

This is more of a mechanical point than the first but end-game powers tend to fall into one of two traps in that they are either Dues Ex Machina unbalanced (case in point on this site the endgame of the heroes rise series) or near useless.

That said I find the concept of a cold-war esque magical (magic punk?) fantasy game to be highly intriguing.

Maybe some people have this power for a long time, and by using them, they acumulated wealth and became more influent among the people that didnt have powers.

Interesting start but I have 1 question can you build nukes?

There are two types of nukes. And if you somehow got access to the blueprints…sure.
