Why not?
As readers we have the right to react on the way we like to whatever we like, it is like people asking you to not enjoy the narrative on your preferred way.
If people want to hate Aeron let them go at him, that’s just our nature as readers better accept it and move on.
Hot take: Helena is more of an antagonist than Aeron but she just happens to be more humanized due to longer and more in-depth screen time. Hit me with the hate lol
I have decided to amend my statement by clarifying that Karl is easily the biggest dick in the cast and likely to be more antagonistic than Helena or Aeron but so far it’s all been implied, and very well done I might add.
all adults are more antagonistic than him, after all he is just a child who was taken to this war as well as the MC besides the MC’s mother forces him not to like any of the brothers
Aeron is quite simply a child, slightly entitled? Yes, but it’s not like he’s the evil dark lord and he’s quite likely feeling the same pressure, probably even more so, from Nrien ans we are from the MC’s mother.
Omg I was literally getting thorn apart from ppl here few days ago because I thought that Aeron is just a horny kid not an evil mastermind trying to kill us. Another thing I wanna highlight, though is how a lot of ppl seem to get offended by the fact that some of the ROs and friends of the MC have their own ambitions and interest in particular Odo and Kela. One of the reasons is because Kela apparently have some kind of interest in Aeron romantically, and that would be normal if it was just jealousy but they got so far to accuse her of betraying the MC (she did not, the MC and Kela are not together at that point of the story so their both free to pursue anyone romantically). The other was because the twins come with some kind of missions to the mc, which some interpret as that they care about us only because they have something to gain, but I think that those missions are their parents ambitions cause their are like kids and personally I like when MCs companions have their own interests and ambitions and are not some minions of the mc.
Ok ok guys I got a lore question! How valid is adoption? Like for whatever reason you and your RO can’t have a child, would adoption be a valid option? Or will the throne go to the next kin relation, like a cousin or sibling of the MC?
Plus at this point of the story they’re like 9-10 yo
Oh I’m also rlly interested in this question. Like if the Emperor has no kids will he be able to choose an heir from his siblings or will like all the nobles decide in some kind of vote (like in HoD)
Could happen tbh, like if all the kids die prematurely in some war or plague or the emperor gets castrated
Like the emperor and both wives are infertile (somehow lol) so no cheating and passing the baby as a miracle. What would happen next when the emperor dies?
Most of what I say here is a WIP, so take my words with a grain of salt.
Adoption is a no-no due to two reasons: the blood of command and that a child raised by another woman isn’t really her true child (The temple says).
The reason the MC has to marry early is to prove that they can have children. You must have a child before you’re named as the crown heir. (Not the rule since a lot could happen, like Karl and his siblings) But what would have happened if Karl was infertile? One of the cadet branches of House Vorla, the families related to the emperor, would be the next new rulers.
Yet I have a plan for the MC that wants to adopt since children are important to the story, but not all the ROs may agree to go with it.
How could they prove that the babe in your arms isn’t yours? They could try, but you could cover your tracks well. (It could be quite ugly to do so if you want to make sure no one finds out the truth.)
Or I could just force the MC to have a child and avoid all of this.
Could also allow the MC to have no children at all and face the consequences.
Luckily for me, I still have time to think it over.
If I don’t think I can do it or if I feel burned out, then I will have no choice but to force the MC to have a child. I know a lot of people would not like that, but unfortunately, I will then have no choice but to do so. (I learned my lesson from before) Still, I will give it a try.
Honestly, setting-breaking decisions aren’t worth trying to fit in, I’ve seen multiple WIP circle the drain over the author trying to bash their head against that specific wall and burning out.
Yeah I kinda agree with you but this could really be a major problem for homosexual MC. Although the author has a lot of time to think about this before it becomes a central issue in the story. I think the author has said that the first book will end when the MC will be 20 so I don’t think that at least in this book this will be even touched as probably the war wouldn’t be over by then.
Yes you have to do things that you don’t like here, but this is not a question does the mc wants but if the mc can. For a f MC I think it would be as normal just unpleasant, but for a male it would be much harder without sexual attraction, almost near impossible.
Maybe ur right, but still sound really uncertain though, maybe we could “adopt” the child of our wife and make sure nobody suspects us as the author said. Although this is really wip content mostly set far in the future so such questions really don’t need answer rn.
It would suck for them but if they are in a setting where they’d be forced to, that’s what has to happen. That’s the same in a setting where war or killing would be inevitable, sometime bad or unpleasant stuff has to happen for the plot and trying to avoid it isn’t worth killing the story over.
For exemple: In Kingdoms and Empires, you are forced to execute those guys, it’s a major problem for Pacifist / Chivalrous MCs and it’s acknowledged as such but it still happens cause the situation and setting make it inevitable and I’d even say the story is better for it.
Ah okay, that’s indeed another question entirely but there are ways to get someone erect regardless of the situation, most of which should be available even in the middle ages so they definitely can and even if they couldn’t, there are ways around that too.
I got another question!! How much time will we spend with our babies/kids? Do we just chuck them at a nurse and hope for the best or will we be an active part of their life, as much as being an emperor permits? I mean I dont wanna be like Karl and see my child in chapter two lol
My guess is that we’ll have a choice for that. Like: a. go visit your kids, b. go practice combat, c. go to the tavern PARTY, etc.
Personally, my MC just wants to be a wife and a mom. She doesn’t care if she’s queen or not. She’ll support the sibling that’s honestly best for the job. And if that’s her, fine
From the first book not really much if you can have kid at 16 and the game ends when ur 20 the child will be only 4 plus the war that you have to wage you rlly won’t have much time for them.
well there is no need to be sad as that would probably be in the first book as you have a lot of things to do (win a bloody civil war against your siblings and other normal chores) and the kid will be a baby for the most part of the first book, but maybe in the second you might have the chance to delve deeper into parenthood (if ruling the massive empire doesn’t take too much of ur time)
