Hi,
I’m Dom, the writer in two-man team Krunchy Fried Games. I feel I must reintroduce myself as it’s been a while. I previously announced our CYOAs Witches and Bandits and Swords (Oh My) and The Bunny Hill Horror here, and we’ve spent the last four years of blood, sweat and tears working on something more ambitious. A point and click adventure is maybe stretching “interactive fiction” to its limit, but I hope you can forgive me, as the game features some substantial murder mysteries and no shortage of intriguing characters.

Blurb:
He hates crime. All Inspector Dermot Dervish loathes more are early mornings, his boss, and any technology from the last thirty years. But he won’t need any of these. Armed with his trusty notebook, razor wit, and an assistant who’s trying to pretend she’s not a traffic warden, only Dermot can solve a series of shocking and intriguing murders, and bring the city’s criminal scum to justice.
Or let them go if he thinks they’ve got a good enough reason.
Features:
Casual control scheme: Control Inspector Dermot Dervish with keyboard or controller.
Broad range of puzzles: Features traditional item puzzles, forensic problems, cross examinations and a Phoenix Wright style denouement where you must unmask the killer.
Three substantial murder mysteries where the game’s humour belies dark psychology and motives.
Mood Power Up System: Some problems require empathy, alertness, or the assertiveness to not take any crap.
Full game expected 2025.

So, like many creative projects, the development of the game has been a mixture of barely organised chaos, despair and despondency with some sunny intervals (that’s right, I’ve finished promoting the game and am now just venting at you!). We were lucky enough to get Samantha, a very talented artist who responded to an ad I put out on my hospital’s intranet (in was working in the pharmacy dept at the time), as well as Bryan the composer and a team of translators, who did a great and job and I learned an incredible amount from working with.
Both Mike and I have really stretched ourselves for this one. With Mike, this has involved doing all kinds of new coding stuff that, happily, I don’t need to understand. In my case, I had to learn to animate and had a lot of fun recording the sound effects for the game, which often involved hitting things with other things or squelching chopped tomatoes.
Anyway, I hope you think it was all worth it. As I’ve prattled on for a while, here’s the Steam link again (please wishlist!), and feel free to comment or ask me stuff below.
