Fallen Hero - Update 18 December 2016

YOU ARE BACK thanks god btw i was quite worried i genuinely throught you died heh great you didnt

This was exactly what I thought when I picked this option. It didn’t even cross my mind that the option could mean bringing the building down with people within. I think my thought process was that all the people would be elsewhere to that charity event…and therefore only ironic property damage would happen. (I honesty can’t remember if that was located in/at the museum. I remember it as somewhere else. ^^’

The other two option just didn’t fit my unwilling villain MC. She’s not interested in robbing people (beside skimming money just to cover the necessities), and see fighting the Rangers as an inevitable consequence, but not something she wants to do/look forward to (even if she’s not very fond of the members besides Ortega).

I have now decided to change the options you get for your debut. There will still be choices, but they will be changed and hopefully fit the MC better.

Honestly I am facepalming so hard right now, thanks for pointing out a weakness of the story. The result will be better for it.

Anyone else getting the feeling that even the Female Ortega has a moustache? The moustache can cross genders!

As long as the mustache can’t jump to other people we should be fine.

To be honest, it seems like either could work for this, in my opinion. Just to make I’m understanding the options:

  1. Single Choice for MC (You MUST kidnap the president)–>Different endings/paths for that choice depending on MC’s personality+choices made along that path
  2. Multiple Paths for MC (Kidnap, murder, or graffiti)–>Single ending where the paths merge together

Assuming I’m understanding this correctly, I feel like #1 would ultimately give the player more variation in each of their playthroughs, as well as a reason to play again after they’ve finished the game. #2 sounds likes it provides variation at first, but not later on?

tl;dr I like your original idea of One Path–>Different Ends quite a lot. I also may or may not have misunderstood what you were saying.

Edit: Whoops. Just saw your post about changing the options. That’s what I get for replying on a phone. Sorry!

…what if that’s what happens when we posses someone? They receive one distinctive trait from their possessor and it just happens to be a moustache!

On a more serious note, @malinryden I can’t help but agree with what people previously stated. None of the options really suited my Mc either. I chose taking out the rangers since that seems maybe better in the long run than massacred civilians in a destroyed charity event.

And stealing money just doesn’t actually seem like a problem. Given how we can very easily take as much money as we’d like from just about everyone.

Quick question, if the MC posses someone and that person commits a crime who would a court find guilty?

The PC, that’s the same case when you possessed Argent.

I hope for this too. The others doesn’t quite fit with my can-still-be-reformed villainous character (it’s all up to you, Mr Soon-to-lose-your-moustache!)…

I’m waiting for the reveal of what this massively horrible conspiracy that our MC somehow knows about is to turn almost everyone from,ā€œMaybe we shouldn’t be the bad guyā€ to ā€œBurn it all!ā€

Just want you to know you have one committed villain here! Los Diablos is going to be mine, and no one, especially Ortega, is going to stop me.

Hey, I’m a commited villian too. Just because we’re gonna fight doesn’t mean we can’t be friends with Ortega.

Can’t try this out yet since I’m at work but I’ll leave this comment so I don’t lose track of the thread

Always thought this game was one the more promising ones around here. Welcome back

For the discussion concerning the first crime I wouldn’t necessarily mind commiting a chosen crime. As long as you could do it your way. For example, as stated before, you could just cause damage to the building compared to killing people. But this has to affect how people see you, do they consider you a mass murdering psycho, or a …umm avenger

Ok.I played a session and thought things over:

1: You have already decided to revisit the ā€œPremierā€ event choices but I still want to provide my feedback. I know we are carrying a huge ā€œsecretā€ and we are going rogue to expose it. What I’m not sure is how this relates to the museum. Because of this, I could not really understand which choice was the one that ā€œfitā€ my MC’s story.

2: I love the story so far - the fact that it is a little railroaded is fine, except for the relationship with Ortega. What I mean by this is the following:
I don’t mind being rail-roaded into a relationship but where I have an issue with it is - wherever there is a choice dealing with the relationship the only choice-path that makes sense to me is the ā€œkeep my enemies closeā€¦ā€ I just don’t see how any of the other choices can end positive.
So what I start feeling with Ortega is that my choices are ā€œfalseā€ choices (even if, in reality they aren’t.)

No matter the type of MC I play the PoV from the only the ā€œkeep the enemy closeā€ seems logic. If the MC is hoping to turn things around eventually or if she is bad to the bone… the choice path seems to be the same here.

as I said: I really enjoyed your story on my play session and it is one of the stronger WiP currently active.

Thank you for sharing your work with us.
