Fallen Hero: Retribution release thread! (Book Two) (Spoilers Inside!)

May I ask the difference between doubt and clue?

Yes there are polys. The ones that you can start in Retribution are Ortega/Step/Argent, Ortega(Male)/Step(Male)/Steel, Ortega/Step/Herald

Doubt is the stat that is going to be used to turn the Rangers in the other books according to the startup.txt page in the code and clue is how much a Rangers suspects you of being the villain though Ortega also has a clue stat for the puppet being a criminal and a clue stat for there being a connection between the puppet and Step

There’s one easy increase, actually, if you haven’t got it yet! Right after Checkpoint 1, with the exact choice depending on your base: either “My telepathy will take care of this; I stick to the shadows.”, “I trust my telepathy to tell me if people are watching.”, “A telepath is never alone.”, or “‘Let me know if he returns,’ I say, scanning her mind.” It increases the higher of your two telepathy stats and could snag you exactly one point.

Aside from that and two things that require oddly specific stats (subterfuge<=65 for one and subterfuge exactly 80 with force<80 for the other), every increase is basically achievement-worthy.

Oh, I got that one. I’m at 79 after that. Actually, my stats went up quite a bit in this game, from 68(force)/78(subtle) to 72(force)/79(subtle). I need just one… more… subtle…

Two questions, it might have been answered above, but I don’t feel like digging through all the posts to find it, I have 83 subtle and 75 force, is it possible to get forced up to 80 here or not? And my other question, I was extremely careful to minimize suspicion in rebirth, but after the crash at the end of retribution, my villain persona was found out by the Rangers. Are there any choices that I missed that could have raised suspicion throughout?

Is…there a guide for these yet…?

Not yet but I can walk you though any of them if you want

Ortega/M Step/Steel if youd please! That one sounds fun. I’m playing mass effect and almost typed M Shep like twice.

Got it first thing is that both Step and Ortega has to be male and you have to show romantic interest in Ortega at least once second is that you have to go hang out with Steel after the re-gen reveal with the nightmare/psychologist visit where you find that Steel used to have a crush on Ortega Third you have to be on good terms with Steel by chapter 21(the one with the fourth checkpoint) you can’t have killed Blaze with high Steel suspicion otherwise he will refuse to talk to you in chapter 21. Forth you have to go on Steel date in chapter 21 and go into the changing room with him eventually you should get a option to flirt with him. Fifth you should have a option to encourage him to tell Ortega about his crush

Maybe but in Ortega’s case they are not any better than an MC who has only killed people who actively attacked them like guards and criminals or a MC who hasn’t killed at all. So it’s really hypocritical for them to act all self righteous when the fact of that matter is the Rangers are only see as good cause they work for the government but every single one of them besides maybe Herald has done things which would’ve gotten them labeled a villain and thrown in prison if they didn’t exploit their status as a ranger.

There is a difference between killing people who are a threat to you and innocent civilians. Also the guards that you end up killing are mainly just doing there job. If you get the bad ending with Ortega or any other ranger besides Argent. It means you crossed the line into hurting innocent people. so its not the same thing. Its definitely true that the other rangers have probably killed. But killing civilians is where they draw the line. So it not really hypocritical at all.

Re-gene genetics are based off real human samples. In Sidesteps case it’s very heavily hinted that HG’s younger sibling who died in prison when they were like 12 is the basis for Sidesteps genetics at least with regards to appearance. Hence why they look similar to HG. But this isn’t absolutely certain.

You can get the bad ending without killing anyone. Bad ending meaning none of the rangers breaking you out after being caught by Ortega. Also Argent has for sure killed innocent people and you can even get her to do it again by accident on the bridge. Maybe Ortega hasn’t killed an innocent in cold blood sure but they have done a whole lot of other shit which is objectively wrong so they don’t have very much moral ground to stand on at all.

How so? I mean I guess. I think that I have seen all the bad endings so far. But on playthroughs where you haven’t killed anyone. You usually have to pick dialogue options that show you don’t regret what you did. And I think that only happens with Ortega. Cause they possibly end up thinking your a Regene I could be wrong tho. Can you tell me when Argent ends up killing innocent people? Besides the bridge thing which isn’t even her fault. So it doesn’t count considering it was the MC who was controlling her mind. In regards to Ortega, I’m not arguing that Ortega is some solid moral person. Yes they are a flawed character and have possibly done things that there not proud of. Similar to the other rangers. My argument is that its a far cry from killing innocent people. Which is why I disagree with saying the rangers are hypocrites. If they don’t forgive the MC.

Are there two places you can wake up in for the ending? I see people mentioning being broken out of a hospital, but I think my MC was brought to the Rangers’ medical ward or something. Maybe I misremembered my ending since it got so intense though.

Edit: Oh, how sneaky. I was scared to continue to page since I wanted to come back years later just to save. Wow, this game has so many surprises.

My Sidestep also actively protected people and showed remorse for her actions, and Ortega was supportive of her. I also came clean in the car, so maybe that contributed to it.

Yep, I’m about to try that save editor for the first time. God mode, here Aave comes! Well, as god mode as you can get in these games.

For any of you with 80+ scores in force and subtle, how high can they both be? I don’t want to break the game, I just want to see what happens if Aave has over 80 in them instead of 77 (subtle) and 67 (force). But geez, her political influence is 71 at the end.

After Mortum ghosted the MC after hearing the truth, I think it’s time to try the Ortega/Herald/Sidestep poly. She did think he was hot and kept getting hot and bothered by him, but she’s a walking hormone up until she and Ortega finally get it on.

Mine did the same for all of that. My issue was that I quit when I saw “The End” and figured that was it. I figured, why bother hitting the button when the end is so horrible?? I’m glad @Tyranniac told me to keep going or I may never have known!
