Dropbox not letting me share my demo?

Whelp, I’m not paying for access to a public folder and I can’t figure out how to use webs.com, so I’m wondering if someone here can help me. I followed the instructions on the wiki and the “Can’t post my Demo” thread, but my complete game will never show. At best, when I replace the stuff in the URL, I am greeted by the “show stats” and “restart” buttons with no text. I am computer illiterate, but I think the type of file that dropbox is sharing is wrong (not HTML). That could mean absolutely nothing, though.

Any help is appreciated!

Have you compiled your file first?

This can be done with the new dropbox.
This should tell you everything you need to know.

Yeah, I said in my first post that I have already followed those instructions and nothing went wrong. I just can’t get dropbox to link correctly.

Interesting… Are you using something other than firefox for the game compression? I do recall there being something about problems using chrome/explorer, but I don’t really know what the problems are.

I think I had a similar problem a while back. I fixed it by not opening the compiled file straight away, but changing the name to whateverthenameis.html and then opening in firefox.
I’m not sure if it’s the same problem though.

I assume that all your .text files are in the scenes folder in the mygame folder?

Nope.

Yeah. Could you explain what you did to make it work? Like, did you change the URL of the dropbox link to whatever.html or something different?

I changed the name of the compiled file to whateverthenamewhas.html, opened it with firefox, it worked, and then I uploaded it to dropbox and shared the link.
Then I opened the link in firefox just to make sure that it worked, and it did.
