Can I get the link as well?
Congratulations and best of luck with the submission! I’m sure you’ve got it covered, but do make sure you’re on the same page as the comp rules - as far as I remember, IF Comp for example requires that entered games remain freely available after the comp is over, so that may affect the HG publication process. (If that’s not applicable for the comp you’re entering, please feel free to disregard!)
Can I get the link, please?
I’ve reached out.
Thank you! Yep, CoG is aware of my participation in the Spring Thing, and Brian Rushton (Comp organizer and CoG writer) is aware that I’m initiating the publishing process now.
Unfortunately, it’s applicable too. Not to worry, there will be content exclusive to the HG release.
I might participate this year. Although I hear Felicity Banks is interested too. I might get eaten alive by an IFcomp veteran like herself.
Awesome, glad it’s all OK! I look forward to playing when Spring Thing comes around
Can I also get the link. This game definitely sounds like a game I would play during my free time
Can i also get the link
I’m very, very sorry, but I’ve made the decision to end access to the beta for new testers, since the game is now with HG. I’m leaving the thread open if existing holders of the link still wish to leave feedback, or if anyone has any general questions/comments, but I’m stopping further distribution. Again, I apologize, but you’ll need to wait for HG to release the final product. I’m planning to take down the beta in mid-Feb.
Also, general update. I have been cutting my forum activity lately as I’ve been under some stress over the last few days. I’m about 10k into the sequel, and I’m planning (no promises) to have a full draft by early July. If anyone wants a sneak peek, I’ve put some of the achievements below. (Edit: If you want to discuss these, please blur spoilers)
Crazy Kids: Reach a high relationship level with Pretessa Charity. (20 points)
The Lord of the Wings: Reach a high relationship level with Prince Oscar. (20 points)
I see Fire: Reach a high relationship level with Princess Mingzhu. (20 points)
Wild Ones: Reach a high relationship level with Afton. (20 points)
Sweet but Psycho: Romance Pretessa Charity. (20 points)
If My Heart Had Wings: Romance Prince Oscar. (20 points)
Love Like Fire: Romance Princess Mingzhu. (20 points)
Young, Wild and Free: Romance Afton. (20 points)
My Own Fairy-Tale: Romance Crown Princess Zoe. (20 points)
A God among Men: Complete the story on the “God Mode” difficulty setting. (10 points)
Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: Complete the story on the “Hard” difficulty setting. (50 points)
The Pursuit of Awesomeness: Complete the story on the “Brutal” difficulty setting. (50 points)
Also, hopefully, I’ve got a pretty nice announcement to make next week. If anyone is curious and doesn’t mind getting spoiled… well… take a look.
congratulations
Also, the Spring Thing release (the limited version), will be out on April 1st. The HG release will probably be out around May to July, although it’s hard to say how long it will really take.
Will our MC in the sequel finally be able to get the chance to become a Dragon or just stick to using Draconic powers? Or are we playing as someone new in the sequel?
The sequel takes place about a century after the first game. It will feature a new MC and a canon set of events - there will be no save game import.
An aerial battle with a dragon does sound like a totally awesome idea!
…aaand we’re in business. It’s not showing up on Google search yet, but I suppose we could give it some time.
Thanks again to everyone who showed interest in the game, who left a like and who left invaluable feedback to make this project even better.
(On another note, I’m curious as to how many people managed to try the Eternal Festival for the week or so that it was available on dashingdon.)
I have heard that this one will be entered for Spring Thing 2024. Well done and congratulations, especially considering what you’ll go up against as a first-time entrant! This one’s also on the radar, that’s for sure. If the sequel really makes it in time for IFComp '24, then judging from Choicescript entries in IFComp '23, this one is solid and will most likely be above average.
Thanks! I don’t think a choicescript game has entered the Spring Thing before, so we’ll be making history soon.
I have temporarily uploaded the HG copyedited version of the game to dashingdon. If anyone wants to playtest that version, please reach out to me, and check for any inconsistencies if you can. I will likely take this down early next week.
This offer is only open to people who have received the link previously and provided at least one feedback item and/or comment following their playthrough.
On another note, Scarlet Sorceress is behind schedule. No ETA for now.
Link of the game?
Sorry, I’m not offering the link to any new testers at this point. Since the game has been copyedited, I’m only handing it out to folks who have played through the original release, so that they can compare the changes and offer feedback based on that.
The HG release is tentatively in early May.
The Spring Thing (limited) release will be on April 1st. Anyone who previously received the link from me and left at least one comment or feedback item (thread or DM) after playing can try that version out first on dashingdon. Reach out to me for the link.
Hi all,
The Spring Thing version of the game will be out in roughly 24 hours from now. To ensure some fairness towards the HG release, I did take out quite a bit of content, including sidequests, romances and some chapters/endings. Nevertheless, I hope the Spring Thing release provides a free and entertaining experience for all of you.
If you have any questions about the game, feel free to ask me.
If you enjoy the Choicescript games in the Spring Thing, definitely feel free to write some reviews and vote them some nice ribbons, but a gentle reminder to take a look at the other non-choicescript games as well.
The HG release, which includes all the content, will be released in early May.
Edit: I might not put up a link to the Spring Thing release here. While the event does not explictly prohibit entrants from canvassing support, I’m working to avoid anything which could be perceived as a conflict of interest.
