Great management game you got there, had me replaying and making notes for the first time in a while to get that pesky Savior achievement.
Speaking of which, a min-maxy guide to achieve Savior (and/or Creator). Spoilers ahoy, I recommend using this after your first playthrough:
General tips
-
The only relationship you should be concerned with is your relation with Subicim, no one else matters. This is because Subicim can be one of the biggest thorns in your side lategame if they’re Hostile, and it’s best to avoid that happening.
Edit: Having Fiel and Davalon at Hostile can also be problematic in lategame, but if you follow the step-by-step guide to the letter, you can avoid these consequences/deal with them before they become an issue. -
In general, if the game gives you an option to not use divinity or to use divinity, always pick the option to use divinity. You will either get more divinity back for a net increase, an increase to your faith/templars, or avoid losing templars. There are couple of exceptions which I will note in the step by step guide.
-
Going from the above, if the game gives you a choice to use “little divinity” “some divinity” or “a ton of divinity,” always spend as much divinity as possible.
-
Getting as many templars as possible is important for avoiding a big problem that will crop up in the final chapter.
-
The more faith you have, the more divinity you will gain over time. The divinity gains from having high faith will eventually snowball into more than enough for those Divine Attacks during the lategame.
-
Prioritize gaining templars over gaining faith, but there are plenty of choices that will increase both at the same time.
-
Unless you are going for the “Omniscient” and “Traitor” achievements, there is no point to conserving divinity at the beginning of the game. Spend as much as possible!
Chapter 1 guide, step by step
-
Don’t pick “Push back against the pressure” at the very beginning, you will lose some divinity. It’s not worth the relationship changes.
-
There is basically no reason not to side with the priest faction over the anti-priest faction, you get faith for going with the priests, while siding with the anti-priests shifts personality stats (which, from my experience with four playthroughs, only changes flavor text)
-
Major exception for my “always spend divinity” advice: When the game gives you the option to observe the other deities’ domains, the Divine Mountains, and the Nether, just pick “return to your domain” without picking anything else (unless you want Omniscient and Traitor, which are incompatible with the “Savior” and “Creator” achievements). But you should pick these options on your first/a more relaxed playthrough, though, since you get some hints about what the other deities are up to and there’s some nice descriptions.
-
The best fate to implement for your believers after death is “Guardian Spirits (+Templars)”
and it’s not even close. You will get much more faith and divinity through later choices.
Edit: For a less min-maxy playthrough, you can go with Reincarnation, but choosing Guardian Spirits makes you have an easier time dealing with your most dangerous opponent in the endgame.
By this point you should have 135 divinity, 40 faith, and 595 templars.
-
Possess your believers, show off your divinity, and let the village be destroyed. If you deviate from this sequence, you will still get 50 templars, but if you follow this sequence you’ll get +1 faith on top of that.
-
Pick the warrior candidate for more templars, but you can probably get by with picking the priest candidate.
-
Possess the commander to avoid losing templars and gain faith.
-
Bless the templars and the soil for +5 faith and +200 templars. Or just bless the templars for +200 templars but no faith.
By the end of this chapter you should have 14 divinity, 51 faith, and 895 templars (or 53 faith and 845 templars if you went with the priest candidate two choices ago).
Chapter 2, step by step
-
The goal of chapter 2 is to please Subicim as much as possible and continue gathering our resources.
-
Be confident and imposing (+Subicim, -Davalon). Don’t be polite and neutral, this pleases Davalon (which does nothing for us) and angers Subicim.
-
If you’ve been following this guide religiously you should have more than 500 templars. If you don’t, Subicim will hate you more.
-
Never give up, never surrender. Agree to conquer Fiel (this isn’t a binding promise).
-
Say whatever you want to Fiel.Edit: Offering to help Fiel offends them. -
Don’t give Memmon anything - they won’t reward you, and making them stronger actively goes against your goal of gaining Creator and/or Savior.
-
There is no reason to refuse Davalon’s gift - it’s not a trap and every little bit helps.
-
Say whatever you want to Asiel.
By this point everyone (including Subicim) should still be at Neutral relationship. You might have Asiel at Friendly if you said all the right things to them, which is nice, but not necessary for Savior.
-
Spend 30 divinity to annihilate the shadows. This will avoid losing templars.
-
Don’t help Fiel if you want the Savior or Creator achievements, you have to fight them eventually and not helping will make it easier.
-
Treat the other faiths as blasphemers. Subicim should still be at neutral after this choice if you took all the actions that increase their relationship.
-
Create a divine spear. The principle “the best offense is a good defense” will be our guide for endgame. We need to wipe out the other side in as few turns as possible and the spear serves this purpose better than the others.
Edit: the sword is a less good spear. The shield can be okay if you somehow screw up with Subicim’s relationship and take too long to get Fiel/Subicim/Mammon out of the way, but for the purposes of this guide, Spear is the best. -
Investigate → confront for a net increase of 15 divinity and an achievement.
-
If you’ve been following this guide you should have the option of sentencing the intruders to death for -20 deity relations and +5 faith. If you’ve been buddy-buddy with the other deities (and have acted confident and didn’t give anything to Memmon) at the big meeting all the way back in the beginning of chapter 2, only Memmon and Davalon should be at hostile.
-
Choose “Block both” to avoid either losing Subicim relationship or losing Faith. Fiel should be hostile at this point, if they weren’t already there.
Chapter 3, step by step
At the beginning of chapter 3 I had 547 divinity, 99 faith, and 1300 templars, but YMMV depending on your choices.
-
Don’t pick “Side with Fiel” this will obviously make Subicim unhappy.
-
Take the lead (-30 divinity) → Chase the Nether Lord (-100 divinity) for the largest possible divinity increase (+120 net gain) and an achievement.
When you get to the final turn-based portion of the game, if you have Neutral or Positive Subicim relationship and at least 1200 templars, Subicim will not attack you and you will get an achievement.
Your objective is to defeat Fiel, and later Memmon, in less than 15 cycles. If you take longer than 15 cycles, you will have a choice - fight a much more powerful Memmon, or skip the fight and deal with the formidable Quanom and Davalon tag-team. This guide assumes you will want to steamroll everyone (except Subicim and Asiel) on time.
-
After the first cycle, focus your attention on sending Templars to attack Fiel, which should take around 3 - 5 cycles. By this point you shouldn’t need to waste time to increase faith or templars.
-
When you get signs of cultists, search for them personally, but sending templars is also acceptable. DON’T ignore them.
-
Do not accept Quanom’s offers.
-
Subjugating gives you +30 faith, +300 divinity (meaning a net loss of -200 divinity after divine attacking), +200 templars and an achievement. Erasing gives you +20 faith, +300 divinity, +200 templars, and a different achievement. Subjugating is more optimal, plus you’ll still get the Erase achievement by dealing with Memmon.
-
After Fiel is gone, your next target should be Memmon and only Memmon. Keep sending templars nonstop to attack them, which should also take 3 - 5 cycles.
-
If you have defeated Memmon in less than 15 cycles, you will have a choice between Asiel, Quanom, or neither. Choose Asiel if you want to get Savior, or if you want Creator without additional fighting. You can still get Creator if you pick Neither, you just have one more fight to deal with. Don’t pick Quanom, cause you won’t get either achievement (just Survivor).
-
If you sided with Asiel, pick “Oppose” to get Savior, or pick “Betray” to get Creator (the choice after “Betray” is just for flavor).
“But I want to fight Quanom and Davalon!”
Okay. Davalon will send Templars to attack you while Quanom will decrease your faith. You can only target Quanom for now, so just keep sending Templars. They’re stronger than Fiel and Memmon and take more cycles for their morale to decrease, but should go down without too much trouble. Davalon will surrender once Quanom is defeated. Subjugation or erasure won’t give you any divinity, faith, or templars, so just pick whatever choice you want.
After dealing with Davalon, just pick the first choice. You won’t even get any achievements if you choose to ignore the very clear warning, so just don’t do it.
Omniscient and Traitor guide
The achievement tips after the ending screen has it right: Save as much divinity as possible, explore the Nether all the way to the end without backing out, don’t tell anyone about being corrupted, and always prioritize yourself over other deities, even your so-called allies (AKA don’t help Memmon).
Did some clarifying edits based off comments from the author in the reply right below this one.
